Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Full text linkDie Zeitschrift "Cicadina" (vormals "Beiträge zur Zikadenkunde") ist ein Publikationsorgan für deutsch- und englischsprachige Originalarbeiten aus den Gebieten der Ökologie und Biologie, Systematik und Taxonomie sowie Zoogeographie und Faunistik von Zikaden (Fulgoromorpha und Cicadomorpha, Auchenorrhyncha) sowie Psylloidea (Blattflöhe) und weiterer systematisch und ökologisch assoziierter Artengruppen mit einem Schwerpunkt auf der Westpaläarktis. Bisher sind 12 Hefte und 1 Supplementheft erschienen (siehe Archiv). Ab dem Heft 13 (2013) erscheint die Zeitschrift als Online-Zeitschrift (open access) an der Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg.The Journal „Cicadina“ (formerly „Beiträge zur Zikadenkunde“) is a forum for covering the fields of ecology and biology, systematics and taxonomy as well as zoogeography and faunistics, published in German or English. It focuses on Fulgoromorpha (planthoppers), Cicadomorpha (leafhoppers) as well as on Psylloidea (jumping plant lice) and other groups which are associated systematically or ecologically. So far 17 issues and 1 supplement volume were published (see below and archive). With issue 13 (2013) the journal is an open access journal hosted by the Martin-Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (Germany)
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Full text linkWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. On the Auchenorrhyncha fauna of the Brocken plateau (Saxony-Anhalt) in the Harz National Park
No full textAuf fünf Untersuchungsflächen mit unterschiedlichen Vegetationsstrukturen auf dem Brockenplateau in 1.108 bis 1.138 m Höhe NHN (drei auf Grasland mit unterschiedlichen Vegetationsstrukturen, einem anmoorigen Standort und einem an der Baumgrenze) wurden die Zikaden an vier Terminen (am 1.6., 26.6., 31.7. und 25.8.2017) mittels standardisierter Kescher- und Saugfänge erfasst. Insgesamt wurden 1.872 Zikaden gefangen, die 45 Arten zugeordnet werden konnten. Pro Fläche wurden zwischen 16 und 25 Arten nachgewiesen. Unter den 45 festgestellten Arten befinden sich 14 Arten der Roten Liste Sachsen-Anhalts (Witsack 2020), davon eine Art der Kategorie 1 (vom Aussterben bedroht), zwei Arten der Kategorie 2 (stark gefährdet), drei Arten der Kategorie 3 (gefährdet) und acht Arten der Vorwarnstufe (V). Von den 45 Arten sind 19 Arten (inklusive der RL-Arten) in Sachsen-Anhalt selten. Eine Art (Kelisia sima) zählt zu den für Sachsen-Anhalt in den letzten Jahren erstmalig nachgewiesenen. Damit haben sich die untersuchten Offenlandflächen als artenreich und aus ökologischer und naturschutzfachlicher Sicht als relativ wertvolle Habitate erwiesen. Die Ergebnisse geben einen Überblick über die Zikadenbesiedlung dieser Extremstandorte auf dem „Brockenplateau“ in Höhen über 1.100 m Höhe NHN und bilden eine Grundlage für ein Monitoring, auch unter dem Aspekt von Klimaveränderungen.The Auchenorrhyncha fauna of the Brocken plateau (1,108 to 1,138 m asl) was studied on five sites with different vegetation structures (three grasslands, one spring mire and one open site near the tree line), on four dates in 2017 (1.6., 26.6., 31.7. and 25.8.2017) using standardized sweep net and suction sampling. The total catch included 1,872 individuals belonging to 45 species. Species numbers per site ranged from 16 to 25. Fourteen species were included in the Red List of Saxony-Anhalt, one of them as critically endangered, two as endangered, three as vulnerable and eight as near-threatened. Nineteen of the 45 species (including the RL species) are considered as rare in Saxony-Anhalt. Kelisia sima has been recorded as a new species for Saxony-Anhalt in recent years. The examined open land areas have proven to be species-rich and, from an ecological and conservation point of view, relatively valuable habitats. The results provide an overview of the Auchenorrhyncha populations of these extreme locations on the Brocken plateau at altitudes above 1,100 m asl and form a basis for a future monitoring, also under the aspect of climate change
Haltung und Zucht von Zikaden unter besonderer Berücksichtigung der Dormanzprobleme
Full text linkThe breeding and keeping of Auchenorrhyncha is often linked to failure, as problems of dormancy are not considered. This paper provides an overview on dormancy types in Auchenorrhyncha and the induction and termination conditions and allows the classification of the dormancy type of Auchenorrhyncha. Since the determination of the dormancy of a species often is time consuming and complicated, a simplified overview on dormancy types is given. Hence the conditions are derived to avoid or overcome dormancy in order to get a successful breeding. For selected species these conditions are presented.Die Zucht und Haltung von Zikaden ist oft mit Fehlschlägen verbunden, da Probleme der Dormanz nicht berücksichtigt werden. Die vorliegende Arbeit gibt zunächst einen Überblick über die Dormanzformen der Zikaden sowie die Induktions- und Terminationsbedingungen und ermöglicht die Einordnung der Dormanzen von Zikaden. Da die Bestimmung der Dormanzform einer Art häufig zeitaufwändig und kompliziert ist, wird alternativ eine vereinfachte Übersicht über die „Dormanztypen“ gegeben. Daraus werden die Bedingungen zur Vermeidung oder Überwindung der Dormanz und für den Ansatz der Zuchten abgeleitet. Für eine Anzahl von Arten können diese Bedingungen entnommen werden
