    Implementasi IPA terpadu masih banyak terjadi permasalahan, baik di tingkat sekolah maupun universitas. Pendidikan STEM menjadi sebuah trend baru dalam reformasi kurikulum pendidikan IPA. Pendekatan STEM diharapkan menjadi salah satu solusi untuk dapat menyelesaikan permasalahan yang berkaitan dengan pembelajaran IPA terpadu. Ada beberapa penelitian sebelumnya yang berkaitan dengan pendidikan STEM di pendidikan IPA, namun belum ditemukan penelitian yang mengintegrasikan Integrated Curriculum dan STEM melalui engineering design process. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan model perkuliahan IPA terpadu dengan pendekatan Integrated Curriculum - Science, Technology, Engineering, dan Mathematics (IC-STEM) melalui Engineering Design Process for Learning (EDPL). Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah mixed methods dengan embeded experimental model. Partisipan pada penelitian ini adalah 31 calon guru IPA di salah satu LPTK di Bandung, Indonesia. Pada penelitian ini menghasilkan sebuah model perkuliahan IPA terpadu dengan pendekatan IC-STEM melalui EDPL. Implementasi model perkuliahan tersebut menggunakan buku ajar yang dikembangkan oleh peneliti dengan pendekatan IC-STEM melalui EDPL. Model perkuliahannya menggunakan 9 tahapan pembelajaran yaitu understanding the concept, defining the problem, gathering information, designing, building, testing, evaluating, redesigning, dan communicating. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa implementasi model perkuliahan IPA terpadu dengan pendekatan IC-STEM melalui EDPL dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan interdisipliner calon guru IPA. Skor N-gain pada pengetahuan interdisipliner adalah 0,35 dengan kategori sedang. Selain itu, Implementasi model perkuliahan IPA terpadu dengan pendekatan IC-STEM melalui EDPL juga dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berkomunikasi calon guru IPA. Skor N-gain pada keterampilan berkomunikasi adalah 0,44 dengan kategori sedang. Profil produk kreatif calon guru IPA dengan skor rata-rata 87,40 dengan kategori sangat baik. Model perkuliahan IPA terpadu dengan pendekatan IC-STEM melalui EDPL dapat menjadi salah satu alternatif pendekatan pembelajaran sehingga model perkuliahan ini dapat diadaptasi untuk topik yang IPA terpadu yang lain. Tahapan pembelajaran dengan pendekatan IC-STEM melalui EDPL juga dapat diadaptasi untuk bidang yang lainnya. The implementation of science is still facing various problems, both at school and university levels. STEM education has then become a new trend in the reform of science education curriculum. STEM approach is expected to become one of the answers to problems related to integrated science learning. Previous studies on the implementation of STEM in science education were found; however not a single research has attempted integrating Integrated Curriculum and STEM through the engineering design process. Thus, the objective of this research is to develop integrated science lecture model with Integrated Curriculum - Science, Technology, Engineering, dan Mathematics (IC-STEM) approach through Engineering Design Process for Learning (EDPL). The research method used was mixed methods with an embedded experimental model. Participants in this study were 31 prospective science teachers at an Institute of Teachers' Education (LPTK) in Bandung, Indonesia. This study resulted in the creation of an integrated science lecture model with IC-STEM approach through EDPL. This lecture model was carried out with the help of textbooks that were specifically developed and written by researchers with IC-STEM approach through EDPL. There are nine (9) stages of learning: understanding the concept, defining the problem, gathering information, designing, building, testing, evaluating, redesigning, and communicating. The result of this research shows that the implementation of the science lecture model with IC-STEM approach through EDPL can enhance the interdisciplinary knowledge of prospective science teachers. N-gain score on interdisciplinary knowledge was 0.35 under the category of moderate. In addition, the implementation of science lecture model with IC-STEM approach through EDPL also improved communication skills with the score of 0.44 under the category of moderate. The creative product profile of the prospective science teachers scored the average of 87.40 under the category of excellent. This lecture model with IC-STEM approach through EDPL can be an alternative learning approach, and it can be adapted for other integrated science topics. The stages of learning with the IC-STEM approach through EDPL can also be adapted for other fields

Impeller pompa sentrifugal akan menciptakan gaya sentrifugal untuk mendorong fluida dari sisi tengah pompa (inlet) ke bagian luar impeller. Sehingga impeller berputar dengan energi mekanis yang dihasilkan oleh sumber penggerak. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui faktor penyebab kerusakan mechanical seal pada cargo oil pump, dampak yang ditimbulkan dari kerusakan mechanical seal pada cargo oil pump dan upaya yang dilakukan untuk mencegah penyebab kerusakan mechanical seal pada cargo oil pump di MT. Balongan. Metode penelitian yang penulis gunakan dalam penyusunan skripsi ini adalah deskriptif kualitaf dengan menggunakan pendekatan fishbone dan SHEL untuk mempermudah dalam teknik analisis data. Metode pengumpulan data yang penulis lakukan adalah dengan cara observasi, wawancara dan studi pustaka. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang telah penulis lakukan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa faktor kerusakan mechanical seal pada cargo oil pump di MT. Balongan adalah penerapan PMS (Plan Maintenance System) yang tidak dijalankan sesuai ketentuan, kondisi ball bearing yang sudah aus, adanya endapan karat pada filter suction pump, serta human error karena kinerja masinis kurang optimal. Dampak yang ditimbulkan adalah terjadinya penurunan tekanan pada saat discharge cargo dan salah satu bagian pompa mengalami kebocoran serta proses discharge cargo menjadi terhambat. Untuk mencegah faktor-faktor penyebab kerusakan mechanical seal pada cargo oil pump, maka upaya yang harus dilakukan adalah dengan menerapkan PMS (Plan Maintenance System) harus sesuai dengan ketentuan, pengecekan dan pemberian pelumasan untuk ball bearing secara berkala, membersihkan endapan karat pada filter suction cargo oil pump, serta pengawasan secara intensif terhadap pekerjaan para masinis. Centrifugal pump impellers will create centrifugal force to push fluid from the center side of the pump (inlet) to the outside of the impeller. So that the impeller rotates with mechanical energy generated by the driving source. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors causing mechanical seal damage to the cargo oil pump, the impact caused by mechanical seal damage to the cargo oil pump and efforts made to prevent the cause of mechanical seal damage to the cargo oil pump in MT. Balongan The research method used by the author in the preparation of this thesis is descriptive quality using a fishbone and SHEL approach to facilitate data analysis techniques. The method of collecting data that the authors do is by observation, interview and literature study. Based on the results of research that the author has done, it can be concluded that the mechanical seal damage factor on the cargo oil pump in MT. Balongan is the application of PMS (Plan Maintenance System) which is not carried out according to the provisions, the condition of the worn ball bearings, the presence of rust deposits on the suction pump filter, and human error because the engineers performance is less than optimal. The impact is a decrease in pressure during the discharge cargo and one part of the pump has a leak and the discharge cargo process is hampered. To prevent the factors that cause mechanical seal damage to the cargo oil pump, the effort must be made is to apply a PMS (Plan Maintenance System) must comply with the provisions, check and provide lubrication for ball bearings periodically, clean the rust deposits on the suction cargo filter oil pump, and intensive supervision of the work of engineers

    Using Inquiry-based Laboratory Activities in Lights and Optics Topic to Improve Students' Understanding About Nature of Science (NOS)

    The aim of this study was to determine the effect of inquiry-based laboratory activities on the students' understanding of the nature of science (NOS) in learning lights and optics topic. The method used in this research is quasi experiment. Sampling technique using cluster random sampling and the samples were taken from grade 8 in one of junior high school in Bandung. The sample was 45 students, consisting of the experimental class (n = 24 students) and the control class (n=21 students). The experimental class is taught by inquiry-based laboratory activities, while the control class is taught by non-inquiry laboratory activities. The result of this research shows that the experimental class got N-Gain of 0.60, while the control class got N-Gain of 0.44, and both classes proven to have statistically significant different improvement

    This reflective article describes the author\u27s experience of the common attitude of Indonesian Muslims who are basically uncourageous and afraid of murder, violence, terrorism, radicalism, or the like. Indonesian Muslims prefer to moderate attitude than extreme one. Therefore, Indonesian Muslims--both individual and communal-- will always be moderate from the first onwards. Both experiences while living abroad (Canada)  and notably in the country (Indonesia) proved to the author that Indonesian Muslims did not like violence. Moreover, the evidences suggested that the source of violence is external influence. One of related experiences on how Indonesian Muslims abroad tend to avoid violence was also experienced by the author during his lecture at McGill University, Montreal, Canada. In this article the author sketches briefly his story and conclude that the basic characteristics of Indonesian Muslims is moderate, and moderate Muslim trends or movements will be  well acceptable and grow up. Artikel yang bersifat refleksi ini memaparkan pengalaman penulis tentang kesamaan sikap muslim Indonesia yang takut pada pembunuhan, kekerasan, terorisme, radikalisme dan sejenisnya. Muslim Indonesia lebih menyukai sikap moderat ketimbang sikap yang ekstrim. Oleh karena itu, muslim Indonesia—baik secara individu maupun kolektif—akan selalu moderat dari pertama kalinya hingga seterusnya. Kedua pengalaman—ketika hidup di luar negeri dan khusunya di negeri ini (Indonesia) membuktikan kepada penulis bahwa Muslim Indonesia tidak menyukai kekerasan. Bahkan, ada banyak bukti yang menyatakan bahwa kekerasan pada dasarnya berasal dari pengaruh luar. Salah satu pengalaman yang terkait dengan bagaimana Muslim Indonesia di luar negeri cenderung menghindari kekerasan juga dialami sendiri oleh penulis selama perkuliahannya di Universitas McGill, Montreal Canada.     Enhancing Students’ Critical Thinking Skills and Motivation Using STEM Project-Based Learning (PjBL-STEM) Through a Simple Hydraulic Jack Project

    This study presents an investigation of the use of STEM Project-Based Learning (PjBL-STEM) as a treatment in the experimental class compared to conventional learning in the control class in improving students' critical thinking skills and learning motivation. The focus of the study was Pascal's Law lessons with a special project in the form of developing a simple hydraulic jack. So far, science learning carried out in schools has made students complain, as it is still rote, teacher-centered, unrelated to real-life developments, and rarely integrates technology. This study, therefore, used a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design involving 60 ninth-grade students in Pasaman Regency who were evenly divided into control and experimental classes using purposive random sampling techniques. Data was collected through a questionnaire on critical thinking skills and learning motivation, after the implementation of PjBL-STEM. The results demonstrated a significant difference between the two groups, with an independent T-test yielding a value of 0.24 for critical thinking skills and 0.33 for learning motivation. The PjBL-STEM model has been proven to improve student's critical thinking skills with an N-Gain of 0.46 (moderate category) and students' learning motivation with an N-Gain of 0.49 (moderate category).      Keywords: critical thinking skills, learning motivation, Pascal's Law, PjBL-STEM. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v25i4.pp1976-199

    THE MODELING OF BEEF-CATTLE BREEDING ACTIVITY BASED ON LABOR USAGE, INCOME, AND EXPENSE OF BREEDER HOUSEHOLD

    Purpose of the study Beef-cattle breeding development model involves few labors, including Grass Collecting Labor (TKSPRMP) and On-Family Cattle Breeding Labor (TKSPDKL). Metodology make regression analysis and survei methode in Beefcattle in Jember . Result of partial test on research parameters indicates that only number of beef-cattle is with obvious effect on grass collecting labor, and it is indicated by Pr>|t|=0.004 (<0.10). Other result shows that some variables, such as number of household member, number of beef-cattle, household income, and cattle development pattern, have simultaneous effect on the use of on-family cattle breeding labor. Novelty/Originality of this study is the use of Outdoor Family Rice Farmers (TKUTLKL), together, the variable land area, income from rice fields, family income and cattle development patterns have a significant effect on the use of laborers outside the family's paddy fields. The coefficient of determination (R2) for this model is 0.56503, which means that 56.503% of the diversity of labor use in paddy fields outside the family can be explained by the variables of paddy yield, family income and cattle development patterns, while 43,497%. &nbsp

    Psychological Barriers in Science Education: Correlation of Science Anxiety and Academic Performance

    Science anxiety is a debilitating combination of anxious negative emotion and cognition in the context of science education. This study investigates the relationship between students\u27 science anxiety and their academic performance in science learning at the junior high school level. Employing a quantitative descriptive approach with a survey-based research design, the study gathered data from 109 students aged 12 to 15 years old. The Science Anxiety was used to assess students\u27 levels of anxiety across personal and environmental dimensions. The survey result shown that science anxiety scale scale among junior high school students is 2.31, which both of them considered as low category. The findings reveal a moderate, negative correlation (r = -0.509, p < 0.001) between students\u27 science anxiety and their learning outcomes. This inverse relationship suggests that as students\u27 science anxiety increases, their academic performance tends to decrease. Conversely, lower levels of science anxiety are associated with better learning outcomes. The results highlight the significant impact of psychological factors, particularly anxiety, on students\u27 engagement and achievement in science education.  Based on the students’ answers to open-ended questions, they are feel comfortable when learning science at school because of kind and friendly teacher. On the other hand, students who feel anxious in learning science when they found difficulties to comprehend scientific formulas. The findings provide valuable insights for educators and policymakers to develop targeted interventions and strategies that foster a more positive and inclusive science learning experience for all students
