Oral history interview with Ceasar and Janice Williams
Ceasar and Janice Williams describe their experience during the COVID-19 pandemic. Ceasar, an active member of the Ponca tribe, talks about how the pandemic affected his participation in ceremonies, dances, and other tribal meetings. Janice, Sac and Fox and Choctaw, talks about her loss of work as a grant writer and how the Sac and Fox Nation, Ponca tribe, and government assistance helped them get through a difficult time. They both discuss the impact of the pandemic including the effects of social isolation and learning how to shop online for clothes and groceries. The COVID-19 in Oklahoma Collection is a series of interviews which document how Oklahomans were affected by the global COVID-19 pandemic. This project was made possible with support from the Institute for Museums and Library Services American Rescue Plan Grant

Literature Review and Auto Ethnographic Research
The purpose of this article is to look at the academic achievement gap between black and white students. The author analyzed a school in the Ohio area that prides itself on the excellence of its school system however the black students that school \u27lag\u27 significantly behind that of their white peers. The author states that the so called liberal interpretation of is that this gap is the result of economic disparities between the two ethnic communities that can be traced back to the legacy of slavery and other forms of oppression. (p.10) The so called conservative view is that economic factors are NOT the cause of the gap because some Asians that are economically worse off than African Americans excel in school. (p.10) The author believes that this is a shallow analysis and the achievement gap is very serious and analyses like these cause more harm than good because they make people choose between two unsavory options. The author believes that the problem is not hopeless; researchers must start looking at the problem in new and deep ways and avoid the temptation to seek simplistic one-shot solutions

Rural futurism, speculative fiction, And reckoning with a new era
Thesis: M.C.P., Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Department of Urban Studies and Planning, 2017.Cataloged from PDF version of thesis.Includes bibliographical references (pages 151-156).At the close of 2016, the United States finds itself deeply fractured, caught between clinging to a nostalgic past and pushing for progressive possibility. As we stand divided, a set of emerging great challenges threaten to rapidly change the world as we know. At such a juncture, I argue that the practice of imagination can help us to break out of habitual thinking and routine practice to see our challenges, and ourselves within them, more fully and clearly. By imagining alternative futures, and communicating them to a broader audience through fiction, I propose we may better understand, collectively, how to enact our agency in the present to address these challenges head-on. In this thesis, I argue for the practice of imagination through the lenses of three great challenges that we face as a nation: politics, the Anthropocene, and a culture of white supremacy. In an effort to identify and bridge the divides that exist within our current political and cultural moment, I propose a 'rural futurism' that centers the experiences, settings, and lives of rural America in imagined futures. I then operationalize the concept of 'rural futurism' on two levels; 1) the realizable potential of local democratic institutions, the rural electric cooperatives, as sites for democratic discourse and self-determination, and 2) speculative futures, communicated through fictional narratives, as a tool for developing critical consciousness in addressing the three great challenges imperative to re-imagining America. I present eight speculative fiction stories of alternative rural futures set in the American south to 'test' the concept of 'rural futurism' as a tool for addressing these challenges. The stories were reviewed by a focus group of southern writers and organizers, who provide the analysis, as well as my personal evaluation, of the stories effectiveness in addressing the challenges described and their resonance with the experience and context of the rural American south.by Grant Tank Williams.M.C.P
Besinning oor die twee ryke-leer
Reflections on the theory of the two kingdomsThe question concerning the so-called two kingdoms, the kingdom of God/heaven and the kingdom of the devil/earth is as old as the history of humanity itself. Does not Christ himself refer to what belongs to Ceasar and what belongs to God (Matt 22: 21)? In this article the author first of all tries to summarise the six great theological models, with modifications, and thereafter briefly researches the South African context. He comes to the conclusion that there is only one King, one kingdom, one Word and one life; distinctions may be drawn but divisions are confusing

Public participation in shantytown transformation in China : a case study
Thesis: M.C.P., Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Department of Urban Studies and Planning, 2015.Cataloged from PDF version of thesis.Includes bibliographical references (pages 88-89).Public participation is not a familiar concept in China but there is a growing demand from urban planners and policymakers in China to understand and utilize public participation tools. This research seeks to answer: How does the public participate in planning in China? What kind of participation is appropriate in China context? How do policymakers design for participation process in future planning projects? These questions are approached using qualitative methods such as field investigation, semi-structured interviews and policy document analysis. A case study on the use public participation in Baiwanzhuang to transform a shantytown in Beijing is the main lens for understanding participation in China. This is compared to the example of how participation was used in the Boston Demonstration Disposition program, another housing rehabilitation project. The author proposes a framework to explore the activities of participation that identifies and analyzes several phases of participation in each example to understand the differences between the two contexts. This research found that participation varies and that there are no uniform criteria of ideal participation for every context. To identify the appropriate participation, the context, goals and values must be understood. To do this, the author develops and uses a "Context-Value-Participation" model for "appropriate participation". This research also tries to summarize three main features of the China context development anxiety, elite governance and weak community. Policymakers in China can apply the "appropriate participation" model to China context when planning for future participation.by Luxi Lin.M.C.P
Effects of the theory of didactical situations’ application in mathematics education: A metasynthesis
Conceptualized in France during the sixties, the Theory of Didactical Situations [TDS] is a pivotal framework for developing mathematics teaching and learning processes. Despite the increasing qualitative studies over the last ten years, there remains a dearth of analysis of its effects on mathematics education. Through a Grounded Formal Theory approach, this paper presents the metasynthesis of 28 studies screened from four research databases— ProQuest, EBSCO, SCOPUS, and JSTOR. Data extraction was performed to enumerate the author/s, country, publication year, and connected theoretical approaches with TDS. Subsequently, the studies were categorized into three axial codes based on the studies’ goals of applying TDS: lesson sequence, teacher development, and learning innovations. The synthesis underscores TDS’ capacity to improve the sequence of mathematics lessons, particularly geometry and number patterns; develop teachers’ pedagogical practices in teaching elementary, high school, and college students; and be a practical tool in innovating didactical resources for learning mathematics. TDS was also associated with other theoretical approaches, such as constructivism, realistic mathematics education, gamification, and technology-based instruction. Most of these effects were rooted in the challenges experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic and the adaptation of TDS to the digital era, including distance and online learning. While the European and Western Asian countries have been at the forefront of TDS integration, the paper advocates for broader global adoption of this theory to enrich mathematics education worldwide
