No full textPoznámky o daném tématu komentují konkrétní případ nedavného založení edice, kde budou vycházet v italském překladu klasická díla středoevropských literatur a kde se tedy uplatní určitá představa o tom, která literární díla středoevropský status nejen mají, ale můžou být označeny za středoevropská již dokonce klasicky. Tím lze načrtnout charakter pojmu „Mitteleuropa“ v italském podání; není to pokus o náčrt dějin tohoto pojmu, nýbrž úvaha o jeho zdánlivě jasném a obecně srozumitelném obsahu, související s koncepcí Mitteleuropy, jak ji zformuloval italský germanista Claudio Magris.The paper deals with the Italian idea of "Mitteleuropa", which is different from the idea of Central Europe in the Czech and German context and owes much of its content to Claudio Magris and his Habsburg Myth in Austrian Literature

Characters and stories of Prague's underworld as reflected in late 19th and early 20th century fiction
Get PDFThe diploma thesis deals with various genres which, at the turn of the century, depicted life of the Prague offscourings, i.e. socially excluded and frequently humiliated inhabitants of Prague. The main objective is to give a characteristic of a homeless character, the man on the street, also known as the "Prague vagabond", a character which regularly appears in literature of the period. The thesis discusses several specific Prague vagabonds whom it subsequently compares to the literary type of vagabond (the author used Daniela Hodrová's theoretical findings about the literary type) and shows the impact the city environment has on him. Besides that, the author follows the way the city itself is described as the vagabond of Prague is closely connected with and to a large extent determined by his home city. Primarily, the thesis works with fiction (although a few plays are included as well) and aims to focus on authors of the period who are not widely known today, e.g. R. J. Kronbauer, K. L. Kukla, V. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

The selected works were Dáma u vodotrysku by Karel Schulz, Rinaldino by Karel Konrád, and Dlouhý, Široký, Bystrozraký by Vladislav Vančura. Besides comparation of selected works, the thesis also describes typical characteristics of each work, and the personal style and attitude of each author in relation to programme concepts of the Poetistic art written by Karel Teige and other members of U. S. Devětsil. The work concludes to typical characteristics of Poetistics art and explains why we can classify selected works as Poetistic although there are many differences between them
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
