Abstract Title: Den avvikande kvinnan - En kvalitativ studie om hur kvinnliga missbrukare framställs i romanform Author: Ebba Fors och Tanja Karlsson Supervisor: Johan Cronehed The purpose of this study was to investigate the perception of the female addict in Lotta Thells autobiographical five novels, in comparison to the scientific definitions of female abuse, based on discourse theory and social constructivism. We have been using selected concepts such as self-esteem, ‘’whore’’ and femininity to explore how the image of the female addicts are challenged and reproduced in our material. The result was that most of the beliefs surrounding the female addict correspond with the first of the scientific definitions where she is seen as vulnerable and deviant. The second scientific definition, sees the abusive woman like any woman. Though, this definition is not very prevalent in the books, apart from few occasions, where her friends mention her as “any woman”

Abstract Title: The picture of the Swedish church - Young peoples image of the organization in comparison with the organizations profile (Bilden av Svenska kyrkan – Unga människors image av organisationen i jämförelse med organisationens profil) Number of pages: 55 (57 including enclosures) Author: Ebba Göranzon Tutor: Göran Svensson Course: Media and Communication Studies C Period: Fall 2006 University: Division of Media and Communication, Department of Information Science, Uppsala University Aim: The aim of this essay is to study the external communication of the Swedish Church, and how they want young people (16-18 years old) to perceive them. Further I would like to compare that information with how young people actually perceive the Swedish church. Do the both pictures agree? Method/Material: Together with literature studies, a qualitive method has been used and four focus group interviews with a total of 16 informants have been conducted. Two of the groups contained young people that are active within the organization and the two other groups didn’t. Main Results: The main results from the focus group interviews showed that young peoples image of the Swedish church is complex. In general, young people, who are active within the Swedish church, have a more positive image of the organization than the others. Despite their positive image, the other groups are more negative in their judgements, which show that the Swedish church still have more to work with until the image and profile comphere with each other. Keywords: The Swedish church, organizational identity, profile, image, young pepol

Ebba and Horace - a Literary Battle? : An Analysis of the Reception of Ebba Witt-Brattström's Århundradets kärlekskrig and Horace Engdahl's Den sista grisen

This thesis is a study of the press reception of Ebba Witt-Brattström's Århundradets kärlekskrig (2016) and Horace Engdahl's Den sista grisen (2016). The study questions comprise the following; how the critics value the novels, what the critics' expectations are, and if non-literary assessment criteria have influenced the reviews and author personas. The study is performed by examining the critics' description, interpretation, and evaluation of the novels. Reception theory supplemented with literary criticism as well as author persona and medialisation are applied in the study. The conclusion is that Witt-Brattström's novel is highly valued for its contribution to confessional literature. The criticism of her novel is mostly based on the question of whether the novel should be read biographically or not. Engdahl's novel is valued as outspoken and provocative but also unconvincing and criticized for lacking credibility on certain subjects. The critics' horizons of expectation differ between the authors. The expectations of Den sista grisen lead to the fusion of the horizon because it corresponds to the expectations. The expectations of Århundradets kärlekskrig change the critics' horizon as the novel presents a new understanding of a contemporary topic. The non-literary assessment criteria have had an effect. Witt-Brattström addresses the issue of domestic violence and reinforces her persona. Engdahl is described as conservative and weakens his persona. In one area the authors are on the same level, medialisation. It involves an interplay between authors, literature, and media, which Witt-Brattström and Engdahl have mastered

Author: Ebba Eiroff Title: Students narratives of loneliness Supervisor: Kristina Göransson Assessor: Mats Hilte The aim for this qualitative study was to examine university students experiences of loneliness based on Erving Goffman’s dramaturgy theory, together with the conceptions of normality, shame and guilt. How students describe feelings of loneliness and how they relate their experiences to social situations and what strategies they use in order to cope with their experiences, served as guidelines to help answering the purpose of the study. By conducting six semi structured interviews with university students ages from 20-26, I collected, transcribed and analyzed my research data by using qualitative content analysis focusing on the students vocabulary, with influences of Gubrium & Holsteins method, analytical bracketing. The study found that loneliness was shown as a topic rarely spoken of amongst the participating students, due to discomfort and concern of how it would be recieved. It also showed how students tend to control their self-image of how they want to be perceived by others as a not lonely person. Moreover, the study also found that students experiencing loneliness were prone to feelings of guilt, and in some cases shame, regarding their loneliness. Other findings showed how students actively chose to be lonely when facing other more worrying situations which challenges the idea of loneliness by choice as a more positive phenomenon. Keywords: loneliness and students, Goffman, normality, guilt, sham

In the year of 1933, a large housing survey was carried out in Sweden, which was carried out against the background of the large housing shortage in the country, but most of all in the big cities such as Stockholm and Gothenburg. The results of the survey showed that the country needed housebuilding but foremost modern new houses and apartments which suited a modern lifestyle. In the song Rågsved (1963) the main protagonist is telling a story about the nice life in the new modern Swedish suburbs. Despite the optimism of the modern Swedish welfare state there are still those how oppose it as an example in the song Lyckliga Gatan (1967) by singer Anna-Lena Löfgren.  One of the new housing projects that were introduced was the upbringing of the so-called ABC-town. In the novel City in the World (1968) the Swedish author Per Anders Fogelström describes through the eyes of the character Erik Karge how Stockholm has grown and how Eriks family are moving into Vällingby as a way of living the dream of the modern lifestyle. In the same spirit as Fogelströms Erik in the author Lena Anderssons novel Sveas son (2018) we get to know the modern practical family man in Ragnar Johansson. First Ragnar builds his own house in which he and the family lives until he divorces his wife and moves to Vällingby with his new girlfriend Ingrid.  In 1964, the government of Sweden despite the success of the ABC-town decides to build a million new homes for families in a period of 10 years. In the documentary Children of Jordbro (1975) the director Rainer Hartleb follows a group of young children living their ordinary lives in the suburbs. In the following film Living in Jordbro (1981) the children are young adults who discusses the future in the suburbs at the same time as the world are in the middle of the big oil crises. In the town of Rågsved, the punk group Ebba Grön released their single Were only in it for the drugs no. 1 (1979) as a protest of the city in Vantör which has decided to move the culture association of Oasen from the public building. A year prior to Ebba Gröns hit single the progressive rock and theater group Nationalteatern released their hit Barn av vår tid (Children of our time) as a way of protest the lack of activities for young adults in the suburbs of Gothenburg.  The essays focus on how Sweden went from a land in crisis to a welfare state despite the growing segregation of the suburbs and how that was reflected through cultural expressions.

Abstract Title: Building condominiums in a recession Subject: Master's thesis in business administration, 15 credits Author: Ebba Fritz & Emmy Rabe Keywords: Recession, capital structure, housing market, household purchasing power Purpose: The purpose of the thesis is to investigate which factors affect the private real estate companies' ability to acquire capital to build and sell condominiums. The study will also investigate which factors are the basis for fewer condominiums being built in a recession. Method: This study used an abductive research approach with a qualitative method. The empirical data collection is based on interviews from six respondents who represent different companies that are active in Gothenburg. The theoretical frame of reference has been developed with the help of relevant scientific articles, literature and internet sources connected to the real estate & construction industry. Conclusion: The study's conclusion shows that the current market situation has made it difficult for private real estate companies to acquire capital to build condominiums. The restrictiveness of the banks has been shown through stricter requirements on the sales ratio, which has made it more difficult for the real estate companies to finance new projects. Surplus unsold condominiums, the increased interest rate and reduced demand due to economic uncertainty have also contributed to companies building less. The caution of households due to high interest rates and psychological factors has led to restraint and limited willingness to invest, which has been a contributing factor to the fact that property companies have had difficulties with their sales. The companies work with strategic planning to survive the recession and position themselves for the future
