Norm estimates for a broad class of modulation spaces, and continuity of Fourier type operators
We consider a broad class of modulation spaces M(ω, B),parameterized with weight function ω and a normal quasiBanach function space B of order r0 ∈ (0, 1]. Then we provethat f ∈ M(ω, B), if and only if Vϕf belongs to the Wieneramalgam space Wr(ω, B), and ∥f∥M(ω,B) ≍ ∥Vϕf · ω∥B ≍ ∥Vϕf∥Wr(ω,B), r ∈ [r0, ∞]. We use the results to extend and improve continuity andlifting properties for pseudo-differential and Toeplitz operatorswith symbols in weighted M∞,r0 -spaces, r0 ≤ 1, when actingon M(ω, B)-spaces
This study examines how Qatar and Russia utilize football as an instrument of foreign-policy. While previous reasearch has primarily focused on mega-events, such as the Olympic games and the FIFA World Cup, this thesis expands the scope by analyzing how footbal functions as a strategic tool for nation branding in both countries. The study employs a comparative qualitative case study appraoch, based on Simon Anholt’s nation branding framework, modified to include four dimensions instead of six. The analysis demonstrates that both Qatar and Russia leverage football to advance their foreign policy objectives, but in markedly different ways. Qatar uses football to promote modernization and economic diversification. In constrast, Russia utilizes football to reinforce domestic legitimacy and consolidate the regime’s authority. The findings highlight the varied strategic functions of football in international politics and contribute to a deeper understanding of nation branding and sportswashing deployment through football.
“Batteries, Power and Postcolonial Echoes: How Sweden Construct the Democratic Republic of Congo” : A critical discourse analysis about power relations: examining how Swedish state and civil society actors constructs the Democratic Republic of Congo in text on mineral extraction, development cooperation and international responsibility.
In recent years, the global demand for critical minerals and metals has intensified, putting the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) as a central supplier of these resources that are essential for the green transition. While these minerals and metals are crucial for Swedish and European industries, their extraction is closely connected with conflicts and power asymmetries. Although previous research has been conducted on the political economy of mineral extraction in the DRC, little attention has been given to how Swedish actors construct the country and its role in global value chains. This study therefore introduces a new perspective by analysing how Swedish governmental and civil society actors frame the DRC. This research shows that Swedish actors consistently frame the DRC as a country with instability, violence and weak governance, while positioning Sweden and Europe as responsible and normatively driven actors. The analysis also reveals notable silences, especially regarding Sweden´s own role in driving mineral and metal demand. Taken together, the results demonstrate a discursive pattern that reinforces Eurocentric assumptions while simultaneously opening space for emerging narratives on sustainability and transparency
Tidö-parties ideological convergence : A qualitative content analysis of the convergence of the Tidö-parties according to the economic left-right scale and the GAL-TAN scale before and after the Tidö-agreement based on the speeches at Almedalen in 2021 and 2025.
In 2022 Sweden held a national election where the results forced a coalitionconsisting of four parties to be created. The parties included were reachingfrom center-liberal to the party furthest to the right in the parliament. Withpolitical differences in between each other the parties made an agreementcalled ”Tidöavtalet” to create a collective policy platform that should be livedup to in the following election term. The purpose of this paper is to observe, analyze and discover if any ideological changes occurred with theimplementation of the coalition. The focus will be on analyzing if the partiesmoved closer together on the economical respectively the social/culturalideological scale. The theories used for this paper are firstly party positionsaccording to an economical scale, defined as a left-right scale, secondly partypositions according to a social/cultural scale, defined here as the GAL-TANscale and thirdly political convergence of parties and ideological change. Afourth and the last theory is a doctrine tool that will support the categorizationand interpretation of the scope. The material used to make the analysis is eachparty’s speech from Almedalsweek 2021 and 2025. The analyze was donethrough a qualitative content analysis, an idea analysis and a comparative casestudy where the content was analyzed and then categorized based on the sixareas of the Tidöagreement and the doctrine tool. Results showed ideologicalchanges on the cultural/social scale moving towards TAN within two of thefour parties but no change on the economic left-right scale comparing between2021 and 2025. However, results are telling and can be generalized beyond thespeeches at Almedal
Linguistic features, attitudes, and persona in contemporary Swedish rap lyrics
This study explores how personae are performed in contemporary Swedish rap lyrics, focusing on the interplay between attitudinal stance and linguistic heterogeneity. Employing discourse analytical tools from the Appraisal framework and sociolinguistic theories of linguistic styling, fourteen rap texts are analyzed to examine how attitudes and linguistic features interact with thematic content and genre conventions in enacting personae. The Appraisal analysis identifies various personae that (1) express emotional ties to socioeconomically disadvantaged urban places as well as non-urban places, (2) achieve financial and musical success, (3) adopt confrontational stances in contexts of violence and criminality, or (4) voice resistance to social injustice. These performances rely on genre-typical shifts between attitudes that construct the self as powerful and attitudes that position others as adversaries. References to persons, places, and phenomena play a pivotal role in invoking such attitudes by triggering cultural associations that listeners draw on to interpret the texts. This makes the performances dependent on the listener’s prior knowledge. The analysis of linguistic styling shows how features from different languages produce varied effects. Swedish Contemporary Urban Vernacular (CUV) tends to anchor a persona locally, while English indexes a globally recognizable rap persona. Features from languages such as Somali, Arabic, and Mandinka exert more text-specific effects. Building on these observations, the analysis highlights indexical links between linguistic features and attitudes, which are most evident in texts about violence and criminality where personae appear as deliberately exaggerated enactments of a characterological figure – the young man using Swedish CUV and who is associated with threat and danger. While some findings align with previous studies on rap, language variation, and identity performance (based on non-Swedish data), this study offers new insights into how such performances take shape in a contemporary Swedish context. By integrating the Appraisal framework with sociolinguistic theories, the study demonstrates how the rap lyrics both reflect diverse cultural affiliations and conform to genre conventions. They appear both innovative and rooted in tradition, with these dual aspects being central to persona performance
The Modern Space Race: A Bright Frontier Or A Fragmented Arms Race : An analysis on the modern space race, its challenges and Issues and Influence from Political Tensions
This bachelor thesis examines how international cooperation and global security dynamics shape the modern day space race. Space is a new frontier that increasingly becomes strategically important for states, especially areas and sectors that target cooperation, alliances and security threats have once again resurfaced. The use of securitization theory as a theoretical framework, this study aims to analyze and understand how space related activities are framed and how and why securitization matters. The five sectors that will be explored in this study is the military, political, economic, societal and environmental one. This study is based on a qualitative text analysis that analyses major space actors and their goals like NASA, ESA, CNCA and other secondary international sources like news agencies. The empirical material gathered in this study focuses on major space cooperations and agreements between states and nations, including the International Space Station (ISS), International Lunar Research Station (ILRS), and the Artemis accords alongside NASA, but also recent and relevant conflicts and incidents like the Ukraine war, satellite interference and growing tensions between the United States, Russia and China. What the study found was what space is increasingly securitized across more than one sector. This securitization of space has led to strategic alliances and cooperation, the isolation of political blocs and the evergrowing gold rush to capture and seize valuable resources and assert technological domination in space. While the study does not rule out cooperation and mutual understandings when it comes to areas of shared interests and safety, like in orbital safety or mutual benefits, the geopolitical tensions of the world proves a certain untrust and unrest between states and alliances' ability to trust each other and collaborate further. The conclusion of this study states that securitization theory provides a useful framework for understanding the dichotomies and relationships between partners and adversaries in the modern space race and comes to the conclusion of a likelihood of a more fragmented and competitive securitized space order in the foreseeable future

Archaeological mediation in video games Videos games make learning fun and a more engaging space. The purpose is to explore the ways video games can be relevant for archaeological mediation. Results from the web survey show that the participants experience joy and positive challenges, two important factors for a good learning environment and for a good gaming experience. The participants express the importance of video games that are scientifically accurate if archaeological mediation is present. Both participants and previous research are aware of the possibilities and risks of a video game for mediating archaeology. It’s important that the risks which include how the video games present ethics and morals are taken seriously if the aim is to create successful video games for archaeological mediation. Hopefully this thesis can be helpful for future research to better understand what possibilities and risks that holds for games inside didactic archaeology. Keywords: archaeological mediation, digitalization, video games, deep learning, immersive, didactic
Russian Soft Power and Strategic Communication: Russian influence in Burkina Faso : A Qualitative Case Study of Political Narratives and Communication.
This thesis takes a look at how Russian soft power is built and then communicated in Burkina Faso, it aims to understand why it has become politically significant in the country’s context. Instead of examining military presence or economic cooperation like similar research, the study looks at Russian influence through soft power and strategic communication, with a focus on symbolism, narratives, and efforts to establish legitimacy locally and internationally. The thesis uses a qualitative case study and as well as qualitative content analysis of publicly available material, including news reporting, official statements, and policy reports where available, published between 2020 and 2025. Through the usage of this material, the study identifies several recurring themes such as sovereignty, anti-colonialism, and a symbolic partnership. The study also examines how these narratives are communicated and later reinforced within Burkina Faso’s political and media environment. The findings point towards that Russian influence in Burkina Faso is mostly shaped by communication rather than material and developmental engagement. Russia’s appeal is created through the strategic use of symbols and narratives that connect with already existing political grievances and widespread dissatisfaction with previous Western partnerships such as France. Remarkably, these narratives are not just promoted from outside the country but are also repeated by Burkinabè political figures, helping to strengthen the junta's domestic legitimacy. In conclusion, the thesis shows that Russian soft power in Burkina Faso is rather fragile and highly dependent on the local context. Its influence is promoted by political instability, a restricted media environment, and common strategic communication practices, rather than by long term economic or military power
