Secondary zoospores in the algal endoparasite Maullinia ectocarpii (Plasmodiophorea).

    No full text
The present paper deals with the ultrastructure of zoospores produced by the plasmodiophorid Maullinia ectocarpii , living in the marine algal host Ectocarpus siliculosus. The zoospores described here are very similar to secondary zoospores of Polymyxa graminis and Phagomyxa sp. (the latter an algal endopara- site, also). Our results indicate that M. ectocarpii produces two types of plasmodia, and suggest that is a species with a complete life cycle, as it is known for all the Plasmodiophormycota that have been studied. Sporogenic and sporangial plasmodia produce, respectively, primary zoospores with parallel flagella within thick walled resting sporangia, and secondary zoospores with opposite flagella within thin walled sporangia.Fil: Parodi, Elisa Rosalia. Maullinia ectocarpii gen. et sp. nov. (Plasmodiophorea), an intracellular parasite in Ectocarpus siliculosus (Ectocarpales, Phaeophyceae) and other filamentous Brown algae.

    No full text
An obligate intracellular parasite infecting Ectocarpus spp. and other filamentous marine brown algae is described. The pathogen forms an unwalled multinucleate syncytium (plasmodium) within the host cell cytoplasm and causes hypertrophy. Cruciform nuclear divisions occur during early de- velopment. Mature plasmodia become transformed into single sporangia, filling the host cell com- pletely, and then cleave into several hundred spores. The spores are motile with two unequal, whiplash-type flagella inserted subapically and also show amoeboid movement. Upon settlement, cysts with chitinous walls are formed. Infection of host cells is accomplished by means of an adheso- rium and a stachel apparatus penetrating the host cell wall, and injection of the cyst content into the host cell cytoplasm. The parasite is characterized by features specific for the plasmodiophorids and is described as a new genus and species, Maullinia ectocarpii.Fil: Maier, Ingo. Renato Treves: from Italy and from Spain

    No full text
The author makes a brief personal and intellectual sketch of Renato Treves. A stay for widening studies in Germany, together with Norberto Bobbio and Ludovico Geymonat, will explain Kelsen’s influence in Treves’ theory of law, not compatible with Max Weber’s influence in his approach to legal sociology. In the second part of the article, the relationships of Renato Treves with Spain and LatinAmerica are analyzed from the increase of fascism in Italy that came out into his exile

I analyze four stories included in Renato Rodríguez´s Quanos (1997). From a particular thematic perspective, I demonstrate Rodríguez´s interest in ideological schemes attached to old Venezuelan customs. It is a sort of narrative involution that claims the attention of the scholars when studying this author\u27s general creative corpus

Some students dream of becoming authors of books, but what should we mobilize to achieve this aspiration? Looking at the present day, it is possible to observe a precarious contact with literature in schools, together with teachers who lack literary knowledge. For this reason, the theme selected for this research will move in this direction, seeking answers to the question: How to train children's literature authors? Thus, our general objective will be to investigate how Renato Moriconi became an author, mobilizing the following specific objectives: to verify how Renato Moriconi's insertion into the literary world developed; to detect how Renato Moriconi's growth occurred; to explore the creative process in the work "Bocejo"; and, finally, to identify the role of access to literature in the formation of the student and the teacher. Therefore, in order to achieve our goals, we opted for the qualitative approach of documentary research. The possible solution found will fall on the role of access to literature. Keywords: Author training. Renato Moriconi. Literary Practices. Image-book.

Renato Ortiz, cultura e modernidade - a França no século 19

The complex relationships between culture and modernity are the theme of this book. To understand the type of civilization that was born from the French and Industrial Revolution, Renato Ortiz reconstructs in Culture and Modernity, mainly through the categories of space and time, everyday life in Paris at the end of the 19th century. The author begins his book by admitting that, "at first glance, it may seem strange that a Brazilian intellectual would have been interested in 19th century France." However, Renato, in fact, discusses in this work the new forms of human relationships, consumption and leisure that gained ground with the expansion of electricity, electronic communications, large "magazins", of modern printing techniques, therefore, a more or less natural development of the research he has developed into the vigor and contradictions of modernity in cultural life.
