    The Current State of the OBI DICT Project: A Bilingual e-Dictionary of Oracle-Bone Inscriptions with AI Image Recognition

    This article reports on the current state of the OBI DICT project, a bilingual e-dictionary of oracle-bone inscriptions (OBI), incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) image recognition technology. It first provides a brief overview of the development of the lexicographical works on oracle bones. Subsequently, it identifies deficiencies in existing oracle-bone dictionaries and underscores the pressing demand for the compilation of a new dictionary. In the subsequent two sections, the article delineates the project's initiation and objectives and then outlines its design. The four principal phases of the project, that is, material collection, literature review, content and user interface design, and search engine and AI image recognition design, are described in detail in the third section. In the concluding section, it expounds on how the OBI DICT addresses users' search requirements and maximizes usability, thereby offering substantial support to contemporary oracle-bone research, streamlining the learning process for novices, and expanding the readership interested in oracle bones.MLBI

    English Thesis Title: Study of CE/MS in Chiral Separation Using Low Concentration and High Concentration Nonvolatile Cyclodextrin Buffer

    目前解決低濃度帶電荷環糊精修飾毛細電泳 (CD-EKC) 銜接電灑法質譜 (ESI-MS) 的問題,主要是利用counter-migration分離技術,使環糊精對於分析物訊號的抑制可被減緩。然而一般商業化毛細電泳質譜的介面,利用 counter-migration 分離技術,因環糊精無法由質譜端持續補充而導致分離的解析度會下降。本研究利用實驗室先前已開發的液體結合-低流速鞘流介面 (liquid-junction/low-flow interface),在液體結合槽中填入分離管所需的緩衝溶液,使分離管內的環糊精可藉由液體結合槽中的緩衝溶液來補充,而得以進行連續多次毛細電泳質譜的分析,也維持一定的分離效率。 另一方面,許多對掌異構物的分離必須使用高濃度的環糊精才可達到,此分離技術為carrier-mode separation。然而此分離技術銜接上電灑法質譜需改善高濃度環糊精對於分析物訊號所造成嚴重抑制的問題,故本研究利用液體結合-低流速鞘流介面,施加正向電場於銜接管中,使負電荷環糊精可以藉由電場作用停留於液體結合槽中,且為了避免環糊精將分析物帶至液體結合槽中,必須在液體結合槽中添加有機相以降低環糊精與分析物之間的作用力,使得分析物可以藉由本身的電泳淌度與電滲透流往質譜端移動。此外利用塗佈聚乙烯醇毛細管 (polyvinyl alcohol-coated) 作為分離管,此分離管無電滲流,故可避免液體結合槽中的有機相隨著電滲流進入分離管,破壞分析物與環糊精之間的作用,而影響分離。此方法不僅維持原有高濃度環糊精良好分離效率,且成功解決環糊精造成的訊號抑制。The counter-migration technique has been reported to couple low concentration charged cyclodextrin electrokinetic chromatography with electrospray ionization mass spectrometry detection without suffering ion suppression effect. However, if this approach is adoped to couple charged cyclodextrin electrokinetic chromatography with commercial CE-MS interface, the resolution could be decreased due to the depletion of charged cyclodextrin zone . With the use of a liquid-junction/low flow interface, the charged cyclodextrin migrated from the liquid junction reservoir to the separation column continuously to maintain the separation efficiency. However, certain enantioseparation operated under the condition that the higher concentration of cyclodextrin used to carry the analyte to achieve separation with negative polarity. A liquid-junction/low-flow interface was used to alleviate the ion separation by avoiding the entering of cyclodextrin into the ESI source. The charged cyclodextrin could be stayed in the liquid junction reservoir. Because of the higher interaction between the cyclodextrin and the analyte, the running buffer containing 20% methanol was added to the liquid junction reservoir to detach the cyclodextrin from the analyte. To avoid the entering of methanol into separation column during CD-EKC separation, a polyvinyl alcohol-coated column was used as the coating column. Both good chiral separation efficiency and low ion signal suppression could be achieved with this approach

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    水是維持生命所必需的物質,更是活命的泉源。住宅生活的用水可分為上水、中水及下水,「上水」即為自來水;「下水」泛指日常生活所產生的污水,可再區分為糞尿污水和生活雜排水,後者是指廚房、浴室洗滌及其他生活所產生之較低污染生活污水;「中水」是指水質介於上水和下水之間,生活污水經過適當處理後,可以被有效利用的水。 利用集中式系統處理生活污水具有本身特定之優勢,但並非是通用的方法。分散式污水處理與再利用(Decentralized Sanitation and Reuse, DESAR)在國外是較為新穎的水資源管理策略。本研究以水資源永續利用與流程創新為出發點,採用分散式處理系統的概念,針對台北市住六之六重劃區,提出雨水貯留供水(方案一)及人工溼地加上雨水貯留供水設施(方案二)兩項解決替代方案,並針對經濟效益、技術操作及附加價值等層面進行討論。此外,希冀藉由論文的呈現,以事前規劃取代事後改善的方式,能夠提供未來開發新建住宅社區之參考依據,進而打造社區水資源的永續經營。 方案一中針對案例地點高降雨高強度的趨勢,設計雨水貯留供水設施,將雨水利用於家庭住戶之廁所、清掃及植栽用水,每年每戶約可省下352噸的雨水,雨水回收成本為8.7元/噸,以自來水水費9元/噸計算,益本比為1.03;在方案二中係將一般生活污水做分類分管回收,以具備低污染、省能源及環境教育特點之社區型人工溼地處理生活雜排水,回用於家戶廁所、清掃及植栽用水,並貯留雨水做為溼地稀釋用水或補充水源。研究成果顯示在成本面較建築物污水處理設施造價便宜,所需技術層面不高易於維護管理,並具有開源(雨水貯留)及節流(雜排水處理回收再利用)的正面意義。Water is the essential material to sustain life, especially the source of living. The household water can be divided into water three categories: purification system, grey water system and sewage system, “water purification system” is the tap water ; “sewage system” refers to the sewage produced by daily life in general, which can be divided into the two sections: (1) excrement and urine sewage, (2) lower pollution sanitary sewage, the latter refers to waster water from , bathroom and other life produced ; while “grey water system” signifies that the water quality lies between tap water and sewage, which can be utilized effectively after the sanitary sewage is properly processed. By utilizing centralized system to process sanitary sewage has specific advantage, not a common use method nonetheless. Decentralized sanitation and reuse (DESAR) is the newly developed tactics of water resource management abroad. This research adopts the concept of dispersing process system to initiated continuous utilization and innovation procedure for water resource. Two alternative schemes are proposed: one is the rainwater catchment system and the other is the constructed wetland with rainwater catchment system; aspects of economic benefits, technical operation and additional value are well discussed in this text. Furthermore, the theme of this thesis displays the method of planning in advance to replace post-improvements, which shall be the future reference basis for the newly-built residential community to reach the sustainable management for the community water resource. The rainwater catchment and water supply facilities are designed according to the high intensity and rainfall in case study 1 (scheme 1) utilizes the rainwater in household toilet, cleaning and sprinkling usage; 352 tons of rainwater per household can be saved for reuse annually; the cost of rainwater retrieve is 8.7NTD/ton; the earnings-price ratio will be 1.03 if tap water is 9NTD/ton. General sanitary sewage is recycled by types and pipelines in case study 2 (scheme 2) processed by the community constructed wetland with the features of low pollution, energy saving and environmental education for reuse in the household toilet, cleaning and sprinkling usage; to store the rainwater for wetland dilution or water source supplement in addition.     隨著時代的進步,顯示器在生活中漸漸變成一種不可或缺的消費性電子產品,以液晶顯示器是近年來備受矚目的研究主題之一,其中的發展不外乎趨於尺寸越來越大或是解析度越來越高,當尺寸變大解析度變高之後,伴隨而來的就是影像品質的提升或色彩受喜愛的程度,而針對這些研究的方向常常可以分為硬體材料或是訊號處理這兩大部分。文針對訊號處理的部分提出一種應用在顯示器上增進影像對比度及色彩飽和度的方法。將輸入之畫面訊號進行色彩空間轉換至CIEL*a*b*色彩空間,在使用的色彩空間下進行影像對比度及色彩飽和度的提升,使畫面變得更清晰及更鮮豔。另外,此方法所建立在CIEL*a*b*色彩空間特性為亮度與彩度分離,能夠在個別處理亮度或色彩時不互相干擾,且為現階段所有色彩空間中包含最廣泛的色彩空間。後將所研究的影像處理演算法實現於FPGA實驗板以及顯示器上,利用有限的硬體面積及記憶體來達成此方法之硬體架構實現,使其可以應用於動態影像顯示。The consumer electronics with display becomes more and more important in life. Recent day, the liquid crystal display(LCD)has been one of technological research topic focusing on increasing size or enhancing resolution. Therefore, people focus on image quality and vivid color on the display. Hardware material and digital signal processing are two major parts of the direction of the LCD research.his thesis proposes digital signal processing which is application to enhance the quality of video display. Two main techniques are proposed in this thesis: To improve the chrominance and luminance of video frames on CIEL*a*b* color space. One, contrast enhancement method makes images bright and clear. Second, saturation enhancement method makes colors vivid and pleasant. Beside, the CIEL*a*b* color space separating chrominance and luminance is the widest color space nowadays.inally, the experiment of these two methods are implemented successfully on FPGA board and LCD monitor.     “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
