Sasajiscymnus dapae (Hoàng, 1978) (Figs 1f, 57, 79) Chinese name: ĤWḧ瓢• Pseudoscymnus dapae Hoàng, 1978: 111 (type locality: Tam Dao, Vinh Phu, Vietnam).— Hoàng 1982: 127; Yu et al. 1993: 469; Yu 1995b: 145; Pang et al. 2004: 87; Kovář 2007: 582. Pseudoscymnus kurohime: Ren et al. 2009: 62 [nec. Miyatake, 1959]. Sasajiscymnus dapae: Iqbal et al. 2020: 383. Diagnosis. This species closely resembles S. kurohime (Miyatake, 1959), but can be distinguished from the later by the penis guide blunt apically (Figs 57h–i). In S. kurohime, penis guide is pointed apically (Figs 58g –h). Body oval, moderately convex, surfaces covered with short pubescence (Figs 57a–c). Head black with antennae and mouthparts yellowish brown, interocular distance distinctly greater than eye width in frontal view. Pronotum black with anterior margin narrowly yellowish brown. Scutellar shield black. Elytra black with brown apices. Ventral surfaces black. Legs yellowish brown to black. Abdominal postcoxal lines incomplete, recurved toward the base of ventrite (Fig. 57e). Abdominal ventrite 6 of females with a deep terminal emargination (Fig. 57d). Male genitalia: Penis slender, penis capsule with long inner arm but without outer one, apex of penis pointed (Figs 57f–g). Penis guide long and slender in lateral view, widest at base, gradually narrowing to blunt apex; parameres about 1/6 as long as penis guide, with a tuft of long setae at apex; penis guide widest at base in ventral view, tapering towards blunt apex (Figs 57h–i). Female genitalia: Coxites shortened; styli absent; spermatheca worm-like, with basal ramus and nodulus. Material examined. Distribution. China (Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, Jiangxi, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Hongkong, Taiwan); Japan. Remarks. This species varies in elytral patterns. The specimens from Taiwan have yellow pronotum, sometimes with a black spot at base, yellow scutellar shield, and yellow elytra with five black spots. Some specimens from Hubei, Guangxi and Guizhou, elytra are yellow with characteristic black pattern as show in Figure 25d. This species closely resembles Propipus subopacus Weise, 1901 (Bielawski, 1961; Yu et al., 1993) from Sumatra, the type species of the monotypic genus Propipus Weise, 1901, and can hardly be distinguished from the latter. However, since we were not able to examine the type series of Propipus subopacus deposited in Senckenberg German Entomological Institute in Berlin, the relationship between Propipus and Sasajiscymnus remains unknown.Published as part of TONG, JUNBO, CHEN, XIAOSHENG, ZHANG, XIAONING, HUO, LIZHI, WU, GANG, PENG, ZHENGQIANG & WANG, XINGMIN, 2022, A review of the genus Sasajiscymnus Vandenberg, 2004 from China (Coleoptera, Coccinellidae), pp. 1-104 in Zootaxa 5207 (1) on pages 36-39, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.5207.1.1, http://zenodo.org/record/732808

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
