Series Report 1: Establishment of Zhigang Liu\u27s Authentic Video Library
Get PDFIn foreign language education, a real text corpus plays a vital role. With years of Chinese language education experience, author Mr. Zhigang Liu continuously reflects and refines what and how he teaches. He has assembled a set of text corpus consisted of videos that are derived from film and television for use in practice, where the outcome has proven its effectiveness. This issue will feature Mr. Zhigang Liu’s vision behind his library of videos, including its initiative, progress, and method of use. This article serves as a general introduction of the database, covers the basis of its establishment, viability in Chinese language education, and several major features. Through this series of reports, it is hoped that it will be of help to the frontline of Chinese language education and, at the same time, provide encouragement for the professional development of educators who are inspired to achieve greatness in teaching Chinese language

Coupled Richtmyer-Meshkov and Kelvin-Helmholtz instability on a shock-accelerated inclined single-mode interface
No full textThe coupling of Richtmyer-Meshkov instability (RMI) and Kelvin-Helmholtz instability (KHI), referred to as RM-KHI, on a shock-accelerated inclined single-mode air-SF6 interface is studied through shock-tube experiments, focusing on the evolution of the perturbation distributed along the inclined interface. To clearly capture the linear (overall linear to nonlinear) evolution of RM-KHI, a series of experiments with a weak (relatively strong) incident shock is conducted. For each series of experiments, various theta(i )(angle between incident shock and equilibrium position of the initial interface) are considered. The nonlinear flow features manifest earlier and develop faster when theta(i) is larger and/or shock is stronger. In addition, the interface with theta(i)>0(degrees) evolves obliquely along its equilibrium position under the effect of KHI. RMI dominates the early-time amplitude evolution regardless of theta(i) and shock intensity, which arises from the discrepancy in the evolution laws between RMI and KHI. KHI promotes the post-early-stage amplitude growth and its contribution is related positively to theta(i). An evident exponential-like amplitude evolution behaviour emerges in RM-KHI with a relatively strong shock and large theta(i). The linear model proposed by Mikaelian (Phys. Fluids, vol. 6, 1994, pp. 1943-1945) is valid for RM-KHI within the linear period. In contrast, the adaptive vortex model (Sohn et al., Phys. Rev. E, vol. 82, 2010, p. 046711) can effectively predict both the interface morphology and overall amplitude evolutions from the linear to nonlinear regimes

Magnetic quantum oscillations for the surface states of topological insulator Bi2Se3
No full textWe study quantum oscillations of the magnetization in Bi2Se3 (111) surface system in the presence of a perpendicular magnetic field. The combined spin-chiral Dirac cone and Landau quantization produce profound effects on the magnetization properties that are fundamentally different from those in the conventional semiconductor two-dimensional electron gas. In particular, we show that the oscillating center in the magnetization chooses to pick up positive or negative values depending on whether the zero-mode Landau level is occupied or empty. An intuitive analysis of these features is given and the subsequent effects on the magnetic susceptibility and Hall conductance are also discussed
