One phase voltage and current harmonic analysis / Wan Azlan Wan Hashim and Mohd Arman Adnan
Harmonic is one of part in power quality issues that it has grown and it has been discussed as major issues. Command problem in harmonics analysis are voltage and current harmonies which creating harmonics distortion. Nowadays, linear and non linear load used widely around the world and it give all engineers concern for harmonics distortion especially in AC power system. In this project, the investigation about this problem will be done and it is involving voltage and current harmonics analysis, due to non linear loads application. From the analysis result, the passive filler will be designed to reduce the harmonics distortion and it also improved the quality of AC power. Our mission is to analyze the harmonics and the way how can we reduces it with the filter that we have describe below in the following chapter. The filter that will be used will be designed by ourselves if we can manage it
Firing angle effect in fully controlled single phase bridge rectifier / Mohd Arman Adnan and Wan Azlan Wan Hashim
Rectifier is used to convert AC (alternating current) to DC (direct current). It is a important part of constructing power supply. Alternating current (AC) flowed in one way, then the other way. continually reversing direction. An AC voltage is continually changing between positive and negative. The rate of changing direction is called the frequency of the AC and it is measured in hertz (Hz) which is the number of forwards-backwards cycles per second.
An AC supply is suitable for powering some devices such as lamps and heaters but almost all electronics circuits require steady DC supply. Direct Current (DC) always flows in the same direction, but it may increase and decrease.
Our project is all about how to control the tiring angle in rectifier. One way how to control it’s by using thyristor. We cannot control the firing angle if we use the diode. It is an advantage if we using the thyristor because it can controlled the firing angle. The advantage of full wave bridge is it can conduct in both, positive and negative cycle. We choose Matlab Simulink to show the waveform that we get from the circuit that we design.
We have design the rectifier circuit with and without the capacitor. The capacitor is behaves like a filter that make the output waveform become smoother than not using capacitor. This rectifier is designed in basic design to provide ease constructing, troubleshooting, low power and cost

The Role of Religion in Higher Education Funding:Special Reference to Hinduism and Buddhism in Malaysia
Religion is one of the recognised factors which
play important roles in changing human lives.
It influences various aspects of man’s life
spectrum. Generally, each and every religion
promotes man’s well-being and brings guidance
to improve man’s lives psychologically,
sociologically, spiritually and economically.
From the economic point of view, every religion
therefore provides sacred instruments to improve
the society. In Hinduism and Buddhism, dana
(charity), through redistribution of wealthis one
of the economic sacred instruments practised to
enhance man’s well-being. Therefore, Hinduism
and Buddhism, amidst the other major world’s
religionsin Malaysia, strive to play their own
vital role in inculcating the sense of awareness
among its adherents on the importance of charity
and knowledge; for charity is known through
knowledge (dharma). Both religions maintain
that knowledge and hence, education has vital
values and roles in order for man to attain
happiness and prosperity in life, physically
and spiritually.
This research focuses on the economic role of
religion, specifically Hinduism and Buddhism,
in developing the society’s well-being through
funding for higher education in contemporary
Malaysia. It discusses the concept of dana
(charity) and its significance in the teachings
of the two Indian religions, as well as factors
encouraging their adherents to the practice
of giving and charity. This paper will also
examine the role and dana management of two
religious institutions, namely the Penang Hindu
Endowments Board (PHEB) and Malaysian
Buddhist Association in higher education
financing.
This research incorporates both library research
and field studies, wherein survey and interview
methods are applied. It suggests that the
doctrine of dana in Hinduism and Buddhism
plays important roles for the well-being of the
society in contemporary Malaysia, specifically
in economy and education
A review on recent available positioning technologies and its advancement
This paper reviews and compares the available positioning technology for location based application such as the Intelligent Transport System (ITS) and personal vehicle positioning. With the rapid growing trend of worldwide vehicle ownership, issues such as traffic congestion, environmental pollution, energy consumption and road accident cases are increasing. Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) which depends on location and positioning has been identified as one of the advocated key to resolve the issues. Global Positioning System (GPS) is one of the most promising ubiquitous positioning technologies accepted worldwide for ITS application. It is discerned that GPS alone in ITS application is not adequate since GPS faced Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) and multipath effect. New technology integrated is needed to overcome the drawback of the current system for continuous positioning; particularly important for ITS application to be fully functional. This is the significant motivation for tremendous research works had been carried out to improve the performance of positioning. In this paper, advantages and disadvantages of the recent available positioning technologies being used in the implementation of ITS such as satellite-based positioning, network-based positioning and location integration of several positioning technologies is found to be able to improve accuracy, reliability, availability and applicability of the ITS
A Conceptual Model for Inter-State Corporate Waqf Financing for Higher Learning
Higher education is over dependent on
public funds, cash endowments and business
contributions which are non-perpetual and may
only concern the current and immediate future
generations.A resource-based corporate waqf
to develop and sustain the higher education
sectorwill be explored in this paper.Theresourcebased
(from output of harnessing water, energy,
land banks and forests) corporate waqf financing
are by itself inherently perpetual and sustainable.
However, the conventionaltheory of perpetual
resource flows across state’s borders may
constrain the inter-state flow of waqf funds.
An Islamic economic theoretical framework
of resource-based corporate waqf financing is
explored in this study. The optimization of costeffective
allocation of burdens of responsibility
between many sources (power generators)
and receptors (higher education institutions,
students) of corporate waqf is modelled. A
literature review of Islamic approachesreveal
for example, the Islamic principles of Al-
Hisbah (administration of public interest) that
can minimize the burdens to be shared by the
inter-state sourcesand receptors in the interstate
model
COVID-19 pandemic: Public attitudes and opinions on a global health crisis among residents in Sarawak, Malaysia
In Sarawak, Malaysia, several exceptional safety
precautions and measures were adopted to prevent
the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)
pandemic from spreading. Individuals’ attitudes and
opinions have impact on their obedience toward control
procedures. Sarawak residents’ attitudes and
opinions toward COVID-19 were investigated in the
present study. An online questionnaire developed
using Google Forms was completed by 1,462 residents
from all 12 divisions in Sarawak. The findings show
that most Sarawak residents have positive attitudes
and opinions about current standard operating procedures
(SOPs) toward COVID-19. More than half of
the respondents stand unbiased for the effectiveness
of these SOPs, while most respondents have a neutral
standpoint regarding the current law enforcement.
The partial least square regression results found using
the WarpPLS 7.0 software indicate that Sarawak
residents’ attitudes, opinions about current SOPs, and
their effectiveness are significantly linked to practices
for the prevention of COVID-19 outbreak, whereas
these residents’ opinions about current law enforcement
were observed to have no significant relationship
with proper practices for measures
Cultivating a culture of post- COVID-19 prevention : understanding knowledge, awareness and practices of COVID-19 in Sarawak
Purpose – This study aims to examine the relationship between public knowledge, awareness and attitudes
towards post-COVID-19 infection prevention in Sarawak. At present, Sarawak is in the post-pandemic stage,
marked by a gradual return to normalcy, albeit with some persistent changes caused by the pandemic. Design/methodology/approach – Data were collected from various geographic areas in Sarawak through a Google Form link and QR code during a cross-sectional study, resulting in the acquisition of 1,128 responses. Data analysis was performed using SPSS 28.0 and WarpPLS 8.0. Findings – The result revealed that out of five hypotheses, four were found to be supported, indicating a positive relationship between public knowledge, awareness and attitudes towards COVID-19 infection prevention. However, an unsupported relationship was found between public awareness and infection
prevention practices. Research limitations/implications – This study is limited to the Malaysian population and has a
cross-sectional design, affecting generalizability. It is recommended that future research complete an in-depth
study of the knowledge, awareness and practices of COVID-19 using other data collection techniques. Practical implications – Public health and policymakers can use the study to implement effective communication strategies and prioritize digitalization for economic recovery. It highlights the importance of preventive measures and the public’s role in managing future pandemics. Originality/value – The originality of this research can be drawn from key findings that indicate that people overall gained knowledge on the prevention measures during the post-COVID-19 pandemic, and the accuracy of the information significantly impacts public knowledge, awareness and practices of COVID-19 infection prevention
The Moderating Impact of Local Communities’ Attitudes on Tourism Attributes towards Destination Competitiveness of Cat Museum in Kuching
Tourism attributes such as destination image, tourists’ satisfaction and tourists’ perceived values are nothing new in the research study on destination competitiveness. These are considered as factors that affect the competitiveness of a destination, however local communities’ attitudes (LCA) have yet to be tested whether it has an influence on the relationships on all these three attributes against competitiveness. Hence, Cat Museum in Kuching has been selected as a research site to be tested on, as this site carries its own unique selling proposition and believed to be able to satisfy tourists and given an utmost distinguished value in their travel. This study has introduced the local communities’ attitudes into the framework as moderator to test out whether local communities have an influence on these attributes that eventually affect destination competitiveness. For this study, 150 sets of questionnaires in total were collected. Both Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 23.0 and Smart PLS (version 3.2.7) were used for analyzing the data collected. The findings revealed that destination image, tourists’ satisfaction and tourists’ perceived values were significantly impacting on destination competitiveness and were proven as positively affecting the destination competitiveness. The implications of the study were further discussed
