Data for 'Studies on the Xiang dialects'

No full text
The data comprises IPA and partial Chinese character transcriptions of 22 narratives in Xiang, where speakers retell the events of the pear stories video. This is drawn from a larger corpus of 47 Xiang narratives collected by the author. Also included are .xlsx and .csv files including demographic data for the full 47 respondents, a dataset for Study #1 of the thesis entitled 'Studies on the Xiang dialects', and three datasets for Study #3 for the same thesis. </p

Xiang W. Testing possible gluon number fluctuations in HERA data. Indian Journal of Physics. 2011;85(7):1207-1213.The gluon number fluctuations in diffractive deep inelastic scattering (DIS) at low values of the Bjorken variable x is considered in the IIM model with fixed coupling case. We find that the IIM model with gluon number fluctuations can be better description for the diffractive DIS data than IIM model without fluctuations

Efficient separation of O/W and W/O micro-emulsion by thermally responsive superantiwetting PVDF membrane

No full text
Efficient separation of both oil-in-water (O/W) and water-in-oil (W/O) micro-emulsion was accomplished by a novel thermally responsive PVDF membrane. PNIPAAm-PVP-VTES micro-hydrogel was elaborately synthesized and incorporated into PVDF membrane, which was validated by transmission election microscopy (TEM), dynamic light scattering (DLS), X-ray photoelectron spectfoscopy (XPS), attenuated total reflection Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR-ATR), laser confocal microscopy and thermogravimetric respectively. The thermally responsive mechanism of the engineered PVDF membrane was proposed from aspects of molecule structure, micro-hydrogel, membrane topology and membrane performance. The permeability and separation efficiency for pure water, both O/W and W/O micro-emulsions were modulated by temperature. The engineered PVDF membrane exhibited superantiwetting, outstanding permeability, high separation efficiency (>99.90%), excellent antifouling property and reliability for long-term application. Moreover, multistage separation of oil-in-water micro-emulsion was achieved at nano-scale. Dispersed microemulsion droplets bigger than 20 nm and 40 nm were completely removed by manipulating the temperature below and above LCST, respectively. The engineered PVDF membrane highlights its great potential in micro-emulsion separation. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved

Wu-Han Xiao, Jian-Guo Wang and Lian-Xiang Li (2002) Taxonomic studies of parasitic nyctotherans from Chinese Anura amphibians III. Wichtermania. Zoological Studies 41(1): 69-76. This paper describes 6 new species belonging to the genus Wichtermania from Anura amphibians distributed in southern China. The 6 species are Wichtermania multigranularis sp. nov., W. oviformis sp. nov., W vesiformis sp. nov., W. reticulatis sp. nov., W granuliformis sp. nov., and W obliquoides sp. nov. The characteristics for diagnosis of the 6 new species are described in this paper

Detached Shock Past a Blunt Body

No full text
In R-2, a symmetric blunt body W-b is fixed by smoothing out the tip of a symmetric wedge W(0 )with the half-wedge angle theta(w )is an element of (0, pi/2). We first show that if a horizontal supersonic flow of uniform state moves toward W(0 )with a Mach number M-infinity >1 being sufficiently large depending on theta(w), then the half-wedge angle theta(w) is less than the detachment angle so that there exist two shock solutions, a weak shock solution and a strong shock solution, with the shocks being straight and attached to the vertex of the wedge W-0. Such shock solutions are given by a shock polar analysis, and they satisfy entropy conditions. The main goal of this work is to construct a detached shock solution of the steady Euler system for inviscid compressible irrotational flow in R-2 \ W-b. Especially, we seek a shock solution with the far-field state given as the strong shock solution obtained from the shock polar analysis. Furthermore, we prove that the detached shock forms a convex curve around the blunt body W-b if the Mach number of the incoming supersonic flow is sufficiently large, and if the boundary of W(b )is convex.
