Dyskryminacja w szachach? - problem nierównego traktowania kobiet i mężczyzn w świetle przepisów Konstytucji RP
No full textAt the highest level of chess, there are very large disparities between men and women chess players. The best female chess player is ranked 98st in the world. However, there are only 8 women among the top 500 players. As a result, FIDE and national chess federations created two systems — one open for all players regardless of gender and the other, which is designated only for women. The paper presents examples of differentiations the status of professional female and male chess players. The author answers the questions, whether such a separation is acceptable in the light of the constitutional principle of equality between men and women and whether it is not a sign of gender discrimination. It is necessary in this regard to analyse the reasons for different playing strength of male and female players. The author presented and discussed the fundamental reasons justifying the different strength of playing and concluded that they have a relevant character.Na najwyższym poziomie szachowym istnieją bardzo duże dysproporcje pomiędzy kobietami i mężczyznami grającymi w szachy. Najlepsza szachistka uplasowana jest na 98 miejscu światowego rankingu. Natomiast wśród 500 najlepszych zawodników znajduje się zaledwie 8 kobiet. W konsekwencji FIDE oraz krajowe federacje szachowe stworzyły dwa systemy rozgrywek jeden otwarty - przeznaczony dla wszystkich graczy niezależnie od płci i drugi przeznaczony wyłącznie dla kobiet. W opracowaniu przedstawione są przykłady rozróżnienia statusu wyczynowych szachistek oraz szachistów. Autor udziela odpowiedzi na pytania, czy takie rozdzielenie jest dopuszczalne w świetle konstytucyjnej zasady równości mężczyzn i kobiet oraz czy przypadkiem nie stanowi ono przejawu dyskryminacji ze względu na płeć. Konieczne w tym zakresie okazały się analiza przyczyn różnej siły gry zawodników i zawodniczek oraz stwierdzenie, czy stanowią one wystarczające uzasadnienie dla rozdzielenia statusu profesjonalnych szachistów i szachistek. Autor przedstawił i omówił zasadnicze przyczyny uzasadniające różną siłę gry i w konkluzjach stwierdził, że mają one relewantny charakter

No full textWe have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used

No full textThe kerygmatic interpretation of movies is a relatively new way of film interpretation. For the last few years it has been developing in association with the long-known interpretation of literature as a broadening of the art of interpretation by theological and religious discourse. The article explains the principles of kerygmatic interpretation. According to these rules, the author interprets Małgorzata Szumowska’s film In the name of…, whilst analyzing the films symbolism in the context of plot, literary and art allusions.In the name of… (W imię…), directed by Małgorzata Szumowska and released in 2013, has been one of the most acclaimed films of the past few years. It received, among others, Silver Lions in Gdynia, an award for the best directing and a best actor award for Andrzej Chyra, however the premiere caused much controversy. For some, the film was “anticlerical,” “one-sided,” “meager,” whilst for others it was the most interesting film at the Berlin Festival.In the article, the author also focuses on the role of the priest in the film, which seems to be a breakthrough in the portrayal of priests in modern Polish cinema. The conclusions stemming from the interpretation of the film are presented in the context of general thoughts concerning the roles of priests in Polish cinema.Kerygmatyczna interpretacja filmu jest stosunkowo nowym modelem spojrzenia na obraz filmowy. Rozwija się od kilku lat w odniesieniu do funkcjonującego już od dawna modelu interpretacji w literaturze jako poszerzenie sztuki interpretacji o dyskurs teologiczny i religijny. Artykuł przybliża zasady interpretacji kerygmatycznej. Autor interpretuje w tym duchu film W imię… Małgorzaty Szumowskiej, analizując jego symbolikę w kontekście aluzji fabularnych, literackich i malarskich.W imię… Małgorzaty Szumowskiej (2013) jest jednym z bardziej docenianych filmów ostatnich lat – otrzymał m.in. Srebrne Lwy w Gdyni, nagrodę za najlepszą reżyserię, nagrodę dla Andrzeja Chyry jako najlepszego aktora. Jednak premiera filmu wywołała wielkie emocje. Niektórzy nazwali go „antykościelnym”, „jednostronnym”, „miałkim”, inni określili najciekawszym filmem festiwalu w Berlinie.W artykule autor skupia się także na filmowej roli księdza, która wydaje się przełomem w portretowaniu księdza we współczesnym polskim kinie. Best-value in Korean public building construction
No full textAlthough the low-bid system has played a major role in public building construction sector for a long time, this system has arguably delivered work of low quality, an continued and rising number of claims within the industry. With these challenges in mind, the Korean government has sought to examine and possibly adopt best-value procurement as an alternative approach to delivering public building construction projects within Korea. The reality however is that although delivering arguably a number of advantages, best-value does present the government with its own peculiar challenges because of a lack of a precise understanding of what ‘best-value’ means. Hence, in this study, the author seeks to examine the concept of best-value and its application to Korean public building construction. To achieve the stated objectives, the author draws upon extant literature in ‘value’ procurement to critically examine the impact of ‘best-value’ concepts in Korean public building procurement. Data is obtained from a survey of 180 managers involved in the procurement and management of public buildings in Korea. Utilising ‘best-value’ criteria drawn from literature, the author employs Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to weight ‘best-value’ criteria identified through the survey. Based on the results of the AHP exercise, the following are found; (i) value depends on the state of each individual building which can be defined from a ‘need’ perspective, (ii) the primary criteria for ‘best-value’ in Korea public construction projects were ‘serviceability’, ‘safety’, ‘comfort’, ‘environmental friendliness’, ‘economical feasibility’, and ‘artistry’ and finally that (?) the importance of each primary criteria was dependent on the building type

No full textCelem poznawczym niniejszego artykułu jest prezentacja zasady dobra dziecka jako konstytuującej system wsparcia rodziny i instytucjonalnej opieki nad dzieckiem. Przedmiotem badań jest polski system opieki nad dzieckiem w kontekście realizacji zasady dobra dziecka. Poszukując odpowiedzi na pytanie o znaczenie zasady dobra dziecka w pedagogice opiekuńczej i systemie opieki nad dzieckiem, artykuł porusza wybrane, następujące zagadnienia szczegółowe: znaczenie zasady dobra dziecka w regulacjach międzynarodowych i prawie polskim w obszarze opieki nad dzieckiem, pedagogika opiekuńcza jako kontekst badań nad realizacją zasady dobra dziecka w systemie opieki nad dzieckiem widziany z perspektywy pedagoga resocjalizacji oraz współczesne przemiany systemu opieki nad dzieckiem zmierzające w kierunku realizacji jego funkcji profilaktycznej. Analiza współczesnych przemian systemu opieki nad dzieckiem prowadzi do konkluzji o konieczności podejmowania badań empirycznych w tym obszarze w kontekście ochrony praw dziecka i jego dobrostanu, regulowanych zapisami Konwencji o Prawach Dziecka 1989 roku i prawa krajowego. Badania te mogą zostać wykorzystane do reform sytemu opieki nad dzieckiem w kierunku optymalizacji ochrony praw dziecka. W artykule wykorzystano metodę analizy treści źródeł prawnych (prawa krajowego).The aim of this article is to present the principle of the best interest of the child as the principle that is crucial for the system of family sup-port and institutional child care. The subject of the research is the Polish child care system in the context of the fulfillment of the principle of the best interest of the child. Searching for an answer to the question about the meaning of this principle in the pedagogy of care and child care system, the article discusses some of the key issues. These include the meaning of the best interest of the child principle in international reg-ulations and in the Polish law related to child care; caring pedagogy as the context for the research on the fulfillment of the best interest of the child principle in the child care system, seen from the perspective of a resocialization pedagogue; and contemporary transformations of the child care system aiming at fulfillment of its preventive function. The analysis of contemporary transformations of the child care sys-tem leads to the conclusion about the necessity to undertake empirical research in this area in the context of the protection of children’s rights and their welfare, regulated by the provisions of the Convention on the Rights of the Child 1989 and the national law. This research can also be used to reform the system of child care in order to optimize the protection of children’s rights. The article is based on the method of content analysis of legal sources (national and international law) and interdisciplinary literature on the subject
