Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
The bond teacher-student with structural barriers and the building of the collective
The work aims to contribute to the literature that articulates the fields of psychoanalysis and education by highlighting how the meeting between teachers and students is fundamental in the process of school inclusion. The path chosen for this task is the discussion around the teacher\'s position in the bond with students with structural barriers (EE) in their psychic constitution. The research seeks to identify what makes this particular bond between teacher and student, enabling a possible place in the school, in their group, in collective productions and games. The proposed perspective sought to highlight the teacher in his condition of divided subject and his feasible making. In a second moment, the impasses experienced by students and teachers during the course of schooling were discussed to think about the possibilities of opening to the bond. The study presents the process of constitution of the subject, from the psychoanalytical framework, to identify what can hinder this process and thus think about the possibilities of avoiding both the merged position (student-teacher) and the position of exclusion from the group. The work uses the qualitative method through interviews with teachers to identify the teacher\'s position that allows students with structural obstacles to be linked in collective productions, giving voice to those actors who are central in the inclusion process
The power of interaction between children: working device on inclusion
The objective of this dissertation is to analyze the power of interaction between children, taking this as a relevant device of children including work in the classroom environment. This is qualitative research, with a psychoanalytic approach, which falls within the field of articulations between psychoanalysis and education, emerging with the intention of thinking about what one child can do for another in the field of identifications with others, considering the interaction between children as a powerful event, with inclusion value. With a focus on subverting the concept of childhood potential, the documents that support and guide early childhood education in São Paulo City Hall were analyzed, as well as the unveiling and involvement of teachers in the children\'s scene as a necessary contribution to sustaining the role of similarity in school. The Logbook was used as an instrument or methodological resource, and the reports contained in it highlighted the effects of interactions between children, with a view to pointing out the existence of something that the child can bring as novelty, and that can be taken as a communication device. work on the inclusion of children with obstacles in their psychic structure
The unofficial pedagogical discourse on autonomy: a case study in a democratic school
In this work we aimed to question the notion of autonomy present in the pedagogical discourse of schools called democratic. Therefore, in the first chapter, we worked with definitions and made distinctions in order to show the transformation of the term as well as the authorship that we related to it. At the end of this chapter, we show the particularity of the autonomy of our time by highlighting its individualistic dimension, in addition to offering an example of an autonomous child. In the second chapter, we started to oppose this fiction from the notion of discourse and discursivities that testify to the ethical position of adults towards children. We indicate the beginnings of the school as a republican institutional program, the issues that involved its democratization process in our country, as well as the movement that gave rise to the lineage of democratic schools that we deal with. The ethnographic experience begins with the attempt to contact one of these schools. It was at this stage of the research that we were able to map out his official discourse from material formulated by representatives of great expressiveness on the national scene. In the third chapter we return to the notion of common to which the school was focused as an institutional program and the autonomy that is aimed at forming with an individualistic view that places the child at the center of its work. From an ethnographic immersion, now in a specific school, we were able to have access to its unofficial dimension. We organized this material in the form of testimonials from teachers about their work and vignettes that mainly concern activities that differentiate a democratic school from others. With that, at the end of our argument, we were able to indicate some practical implications of such a configuration, as well as to affirm that the common that we have with other generations works in favor and entails authorship instead of preventing it as many times supposed
The meanings of continuous teacher training courses: an exit psychoanalytic
What are the relations between the teachers and the continued education courses that they take? What are the meanings of these continued education courses? We were based on these questions in order to carry on a research that intents to think about the place occupied by the teacher education nowadays, specially the continuous education courses, which are the ones that happen after the beginning of the work as a teacher. We had eight interviews with female teachers and one interview with a male ex-teacher and, based on the references about teacher education, we found a few purposes that can be related to teacher education, which are: that one that came with the technical rationality, leaving the teacher in an application role (teachers apply the knowledge that was produced in other places) and making them focus on the means, not on the purposes of their job; the ones which intend to get the teachers closer to the proletariat or to a professional of the education, as the perspectives of proletarianization and professionalization, respectively; the so called compensatory education, that was created to compensate bad instruction in the graduation; the one to develop professional competences which are considered necessary for a teacher; the one that intends to give theories or practices that emerge as innovations in pedagogical scenarios, among others which are developed throughout their work activity. We point that the meanings of the continuous education courses and their implication in reality are more related to the singularity of the person, in other words, to the teacher\'s condition as subject to unconscious desire, than to the tools given in the courses. Based on the clinic method and in the transmission, both from psychoanalysis, we propose ways of working which assume the teacher as a subject of desire, not only as an individual of cognition, such as: the personal analysis, groups of discussion and the write of reports, narratives and diaries
Authority in the democratic family: children, political subjects?
This article discusses the transformations that allowed the modern family to assume a democratic setting and the consequences for the parental authority from parents to the children. The arendtian concept of social defines, in several levels, the foundations of these changes, as well as the time we call contemporaneity, to refer, mainly, to the second half of the 20th century. This kind of family, private in conjugality and public in parenting, although detached from institutions that defined it before, intends to function like a small democracy and the parental authority is no longer more an evident aspect in education. Based on this context we asked the following questions: which may be the consequences for education when a concept of the political and public scope is transported to a private scope? What changes in the affiliation bond when authority is deprecated in favor of a supposed equality or democracy? Can children support a political view, even in private life? Our hypothesis is that the idea of equality is extended to the filiation bonds, and in its most radical side, disregards the specificity of the education causing difficulties in this area. Our objective was to verify how transformations in the public and private spheres interfere at the familiar dynamics, characterize the democratic family and demonstrate that authority doesnt have only the negative bias that many people want to fight against. Wed concluded that, although in nowadays kids are holders of rights and that family works as a small democracy, they are not political subject. Under their infant perspective, children are unable to sustain the action and the speech on their behalf as a member of the polis. Before them, it is still necessary that an adult person has the authority position that does not belongs to politics
What does a teacher want? Complaint, demand and desire in teacher education
In the current educational context, there are numerous offers of courses that present themselves as continuing education tools for teachers, claiming to provide increasingly innovative improvements for the good and qualified exercise of teaching practices. The abundance of models, contents and methods aims to guarantee prescriptions on the effectiveness and performance of knowledge and teaching practice. However, despite the growing proliferation of these courses, numerous complaints continue to be made by teachers and addressed to those responsible for their training, denouncing that neither the profusion nor the models offered seem to be sufficient to meet the stated demand. This mismatch led to the question that triggered this research with a psychoanalytical method: what would be behind the teachers\' complaints? To achieve this goal, ten interviews were conducted with teachers working in basic education and, based on psychoanalytical references, it became possible to carry out readings that allowed problematizing and reflecting on the position of teachers in relation to training, as well as inferring the meaning of their complaints, since, given the context composed of reparatory training models, the interviews brought evidence that the teachers\' complaints denounce the insufficiency of the hegemonic training model which, by basing itself on technical rationality and on the yield of knowledge, leaves out the dimension of the subject of unconscious. Thus, based on the perspective of Psychoanalysis and Education, it was possible to identify how the training models that take into account the subject of the unconscious and, therefore, the recognition of their knowledge can be seen as a fruitful path to be trodden towards understanding what a teacher wants beyond his manifest complaints
Psychoanalysis and education: from \"period of adaptation\" to (im)possible adapt
The present research is located in the area of psychoanalysis and education. Our theme is the school day-care practice known as period of adaptation. The focus is to analyze its vicissitudes in early childhood education, seeking to examine the term adaptation and reach implicit elements of this practice as a dispositive. If, for pedagogy, the child that just arrived at school is a a stumbling block to institutional dynamics offering risks of dismantling the already established moorings and, consequently, being necessary to adapt this one like the others as soon as possible; for psychoanalysis there is, at the very least, a fundamental ambivalence intrinsic to this process, which has enabled us to decompose and expand some understandings about the entrance of a child into the institutional educational universe. Thus, from a perspective of psychoanalytic research aligned with other fields of knowledge, our hypothesis is that adaptation, according to a hygienistic bias, would bring risks to the emergence of singular subjects and increase conflicts within the institutional educational context, culminating in a brutish pedagogy. On the other hand, an adaptation perspective that include the structural condition of the human being of impossible completeness could offer a more favorable environment to the singularities, supporting the process of (dis)adaptation as something constitutive, civilizing and educational inherent to the human, establishing ways for emancipatory education. Therefore, assuming the period of adaptation as a dispositive, we will arrive to the notion that this school practice diffused, seemingly without questioning entails a dynamic of power and resistance between the elements that compose it, articulated in such a way for the maintenance of the power. To understand the main elements of this dispositive, we will resort to a historical review of the two main characters of our dissertation day care and childhood noticing their feature intrinsic to political, economic and social transformations of a civilization over time. In addition, identifying that Brazilian education and childhood are strongly marked by hygienism, culminating in eugenic and adaptive conceptions and practices, we will trace a path through social medicine, evolutionism, psychology and psychoanalysis, aiming to identify influences that preserve the hygienist discourses notion of adaptation and some attempts to instil resistance into it. From a shattering of the term adaptation and its derivations to maladaptation and inadaptation, we come to the institutional dispositives devised by psychoanalysts and to my experience as an educator in order to offer a place of rupture and subversion to hygienistic pedagogical discourse. With this, we hope to achieve our initial goal of problematizing the educational practice commonly called period of adaptation, making it useful for at least adults, when faced with a child, not to underestimate or ignore the complexity that is to (un)adapt yourself in order to (re)exist to the social environment
Education under the logic of the capitalist discourse and its effects on the production of neoliberal subjectivity
The purpose of this work is to consolidate research based on a professional experience that consisted of implementing a private education system in public elementary schools. The problematization will be woven using the psychoanalytic concept of capitalist discourse. To this end, we will present the tenor of professional experience, seeking to highlight the elements of both a practical nature (the experience itself) and a logical nature (speech). From this, we will be able to operate the conceptual apparatus of the discourse as proposed by Lacan, to make speak of this paradoxical bond of the capitalist discourse that we understand, operated in the referred experience. By making this device speak in its articulation with the aforementioned experience, we will argue that its logic in the school context tears apart the possibility of a common experience, necessary for the educational bond to produce its civilizing effects, as well as affecting the bonding capacity of this bond, the which results in subjectivity devoid of marks. We will also propose an analogy between capitalist discourse and neoliberalism (which here is not merely an economic model, but a system of production of subjectivities), supporting the totalitarian face of the interview in the way the interface of the company in question with the schools unfolded. Thus, the education system, as configured in this research, contributes for the insidious entry of the market logic in the context of fundamental and public education, and its inputs (of the education system) assume the status of a technical-scientific object, which on the one hand, it makes the educational act autonomous and, on the other, it silences its bearer. Finally, we propose to make this research a formalization that makes it possible to affirm with certainty that scientific work reserves us, that public, republican and democratic education is rendered unfeasible when the logic of capitalist discourse prevails in its context
