Letter from Eberhard E. Fuhr to Michi Weglyn, March 1, 1977
In this letter to Michi Weglyn, Eberhard Fuhr, former German internee, comments on Weglyn's book "Years of Infamy." He takes issue with Wegyln's assertion that Germans were not interned. He explains that in the Crystal City camp, for example, there were more Germans than Japanese internees.Collection of notes, articles, correspondence, photographs, and term papers collected by Yukio Mochizuki, a student at CSU Dominguez Hills, while researching Japanese American incarceration and Japanese Peruvian internment during World War II
Do True Metabolic Pathway Models Exist?
Metabolic systems are among of the oldest applications of mathematical modeling. Spanning a time period of over one hundred years, the repertoire of options for structuring metabolic models and for formulating reactions has been growing constantly, and yet, it is still unclear whether or to what degree some models are better than others and how the modeler is to choose among them. This situation begs the question whether there are representations of metabolic processes that are true over reasonably wide ranges, yet mathematically tractable. A glimpse into such representations is provided by Dynamic Flux Estimation which, under ideal conditions, reveals the actual shapes of functions representing metabolic processes, although not their mathematical formats. While intriguing, DFE is only directly applicable if a pathway system contains as many dependent variables as fluxes. Because most actual systems contain more fluxes than metabolite pools, this requirement is seldom satisfied. Some auxiliary methods have been proposed to alleviate this issue, but they were quite ad hoc. Here I demonstrate a generic strategy that renders DFE applicable to moderately underdetermined pathway systems. A second challenge with DFE is the need to identify explicit functional formats that have shapes as close as possible to those inferred. Clearly, even if this inference is feasible, the result is necessarily biased. As an alternative, I demonstrate that good time series data allow us to circumvent this step and to develop nonlinear dynamic models in an entirely nonparametric fashion. The resulting nonparametric models offer a surprisingly wide range of analytic tools, including stability and sensitivity analyses. I will finish with some comments on dynamical model reduction, using power-law models.

Fabeln aus alter und neuer Zeit: Malbuch für Kinder von 7 Jahren an
It is hard to date and place this comic book. It is old enough to have cost one Deutsch Mark. There are sixteen pages, and both interior covers are used, too. The outer covers present FC. The texts are all written out in longhand. Fables take up one or two pages and are enhanced with simple, large drawings suitable for coloring with crayons. A good variety of fabulists appear here. We have LM from Aesop; Bewaffneter Friede in verse by Wilhelm Busch; Der Hund und das Pferd by Krylov; FS by La Fontaine; Zwei Ziegenböcke by K.D. Uschinskij; Der Schwan, der Hecht, und der Krebs by Krylov; Schönheit Allein Tut's Nicht (about the peacock wanting to be king) by Aesop; CJ by Krylov; Eule und Star by Busch; and DS by Phaedrus. The two by Busch are excellent. I look forward to enjoying more fables by Busch.Language note: GermanEntwurf: Eberhard Erns
Reflection on the Eberhard Schockenhoff's Text
In his studies of human dignity Eberhard Schockenhoff confronts traditional topics about attributing moral status and moral protection to a human person advancing discussion to relevant elements. This is an exceptional wealthy text that deals with a significant topic. Naturally, the author does not deal with any important factors concerning the writing of the text as far as elements that are completely acceptable are concerned instead dealing exclusively with posing some questions that appear to remain contentious even after reading Schockenhoff's text
'ČETIRA POSLIDNJA DUGOVANJA' BY EBERHARD MARIA KRAGEL
Eberhard Maria Kragel (1725.-1788.), born in austrian village Cundrava (Au), had a very important place in the literature of Burgenland Croatians during 18th century. That servite monk was published his main work under the title Csetveroverstni duhovni perstan (1763.), the best book of Burgenland Croatian fiction from this period. In his paper the author analyzes stilistic point of Kragels texts from a perspective of Middle-europian literary baroque

„Schamlos ist nur eine Kunst, die keine Kunst ist“. Die Bedeutung der Erotik in Eberhard Hilschers Romanen
“Shameless is only that art, which is not art.” The meaning of the erotic in Eberhard Hilscher’s novelsThe following article is an attempt at exploring the meaning of the erotic in Eberhard Hilscher’s novels Die Weltzeituhr, Venus bezwingt den Vulkan, Glückspieler und Spielverderber. The analysis focuses not only on the erotic adventures of the protagonists, but also on the role of the erotic in Hilscher’s esthetic programme. The detailed examination close reading of the novels leads to the following conclusion: the author presents different possibilities of the representation of the erotic, which in his view should be conducive not only to the entertainment, but also to the education of the reader.“Shameless is only that art, which is not art.” The meaning of the erotic in Eberhard Hilscher’s novelsThe following article is an attempt at exploring the meaning of the erotic in Eberhard Hilscher’s novels Die Weltzeituhr, Venus bezwingt den Vulkan, Glückspieler und Spielverderber.
