An Evaluation of the Bioclimatic Chart for Choosing Design Strategies for a Thermostatically-Controlled Residence in Selected Climates
To be successful in sustainable building design, architects must consider energy
efficient design strategies in the early design stage. Unfortunately, many architects still
rely on simplified analysis, synthesis techniques, and historical examples. Although,
building energy simulations are becoming more common in the design of buildings,
architects rarely use simulation in the early design stage.
The ���Bioclimatic��� charts have been used in the early design stage to define
potential building design strategies to achieve indoor thermal comfort. Currently, many
architects use the Givoni-Milne bioclimatic design chart (Milne and Givoni, 1979),
which was developed based on principle reasoning and heuristics. There have been many
attempts to develop computerized programs to further the bioclimatic analysis; however,
there have been very limited efforts to test and evaluate the design strategies of the chart
using simulations of a thermostatically-controlled building.
Therefore, the purpose of this research is to promote comfortable buildings that
reduce energy use through appropriate building design strategies. The objectives of the
research are to develop a more accurate bioclimatic chart for a thermostaticallycontrolled
residence by testing and evaluating the Givoni-Milne bioclimatic chart. The
analysis is performed with DOE-2.1e program (Winkelmann, 1993) and TMY2 weather
data (Marion and Urban, 1995) for several climates. To achieve these objectives, four
main tasks were accomplished: 1) investigate the Givoni-Milne Bioclimatic Chart using
representative weather data from several climates, 2) analyze and modify the design
strategy boundaries using DOE-2 program and TMY2 weather data to simulate the effects of varied conditions of a thermostatically-controlled residence in different
climates, 3) compare these new design strategy boundaries to the original Givoni-Milne
design strategy boundaries, and 4) develop general guidelines for the new bioclimatic
chart.
In summary, there were some differences in the results from the Givoni-Milne
bioclimatic chart and the DOE-2 simulation results. These results imply that without
further modification, the G-M Chart may have only a limited use for a thermostaticallycontrolled
residence. Therefore, to improve the usefulness of the bioclimatic chart the
new bio-climatic chart for choosing design strategies for a thermostatically-controlled
residence in the hot-humid climate of Houston, Texas, was developed. This new
bioclimatic chart for a thermostatically-controlled residence will be a useful tool for
architects and engineers in the early design stage. Similar versions of the new
bioclimatic for other climates could then be developed
The Daylight Performance of an Integrated Skylight and Shading Dome for the Tropics
This paper evaluates the daylighting performance of an integrated skylight and shading dome with natural
ventilation (SDV) for residential buildings in the tropics using the RADIANCE lighting simulation program and
the Energy Plus Weather (EPW) file for Bangkok, Thailand. Indoor illuminance levels at work plane height of a
simulation model with the SDV was compared to that of from similar physical scale model located in natural
environment. A typical unit base case model (1.35 m x 1.35 m x 2.80 m) with a circular translucent opening (60%
transmittance, r = 0.175 m) was developed to relate with sizing of available conventional roofing materials and
typical residence room’s height. Daylighting performance of the base case based on Daylight Autonomy (DA 300
lux) was compared to the original SDV and the modified SDVs, which the skylight plate replaced with different
translucent materials (40%, 50%, and 60% transmittance). The results show that the modified SDVs’ DA are all
above 50%. Four typical units of the modified SVD (60% transmittance) were developed to represent an
application and compare to a conventional translucent sheet in an extended residence area. The results confirm
that the modified SDV has better daylighting quality than the translucent sheet which has similar opening area
and light transmittance value (60%). With proper design and material selection, the modified SDV (60%
transmittance) could significantly reduce direct sunlight, which is the cause of glare and heat problems for

Regional Original Revenue (PAD) is managed by the Regional Government with the aim of financing regional government expenditures and used for regional needs for the greatest prosperity of the people. In Sukabumi City, local taxes are managed by the Regional Financial Management Agency (BPKD) of Sukabumi City. There are several types of taxes managed, one of which is the Street Lighting Tax (PPJ). Street Lighting Tax is one of the regional revenues that contributes to the increase in PAD. The Street Lighting Tax is divided into two, namely the use of electricity from PT PLN and the use of self-generated electricity (Non PLN).
This research was proposed to determine the progress of PPJ PLN and PPJ Non PLN receipts, to know the procedures for receiving the information tax, to know the obstacles faced in the implementation of the receipt of the information tax, and to know the efforts made in the implementation of the receipt of the information tax. The author uses descriptive research methods in compiling this Final Report. The data collection technique used in this research is through field studies and literature studies. The field studies carried out were observations and interviews while the literature study used was through reference books, government regulations, journals, and trusted internet sites.
Based on the research conducted, it can be concluded that the development of street lighting tax revenue in Sukabumi City has an important effect on Regional Original Income (PAD). Revenue from 2017 to 2020 always reached the target with the highest achievement of 118.04%. The procedure for receiving the Street Lighting Tax at the Regional Financial Management Agency is in accordance with the Sukabumi Mayor Regulation Number 22 of 2016 concerning the Regional Tax Implementation System and Procedure. Taxpayers are expected to understand and comply with all the requirements set by the government along with its regulations. An Application of Cuckoo Search Algorithm for Series System with Cost and Multiple Choices Constraints
AbstractThis paper presents an application of Cuckoo Search Algorithm (CSA) for solving reliability optimization problems for a series system. The aim of research is to select hardware from multiple choices for each subsystem to maximize the overall of system reliability and under cost constraints. CSA is a new metaheuristic algorithm inspired from behavior of Cuckoos laid their eggs in the nests of other species with the Lévy flight distribution. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm has been evaluated with two groups of examples from the existing literature. The computational results show that the CSA has effectively been able to find the global optimal solution

La traduzione letteraria è una branca molto importante della traduzione, ed è costituita da una moltitudine di sotto-tipologie. Tra queste figurano la traduzione di opere letterarie per bambini e la traduzione poetica, due declinazioni di un tema molto complesso da trattare e di testi particolarmente difficili da tradurre e adattare.
Nella tesi vengono fuse queste due realtà traduttive, creando quindi le fondamenta della tesi stessa: la traduzione di poesie per bambini. Nella tesi vengono trattate le principali teorie di traduzione letteraria, poetica e di adattamento culturale che sono alla base di questa tipologia traduttiva, così come un’analisi linguistica dettagliata del linguaggio infantile e dell’alterazione morfologica. Le teorie e le analisi presentate a livello teorico trovano, poi, un’applicazione molto più pratica, dato che i due capitoli finali della tesi sono incentrati sulla traduzione di un’opera appartenente a questo genere, ovvero “Versos para meninos que comem sempre a sopa toda” della scrittrice portoghese Manuela Ribeiro.
Literary translation is a very important branch of translation studies that consists of multiple sub-categories. These include translation for children’s literature and poetry translation, two expressions of a topic which is very difficult to handle properly and of texts that are particularly hard to translate and adapt.
These two translational aspects combine and create the basis of the thesis, which is translation for children’s poetry. The thesis will discuss the main literary and poetry translation theories and adaptation techniques that are fundamental to this translation field, together with a linguistic analysis of children’s language and morphology. Theory will then be put into practice in the two final chapters which cover the translation of a book belonging to this genre, “Versos para meninos que comem sempre a sopa toda” written by Portuguese author Manuela Ribeiro

Poetic Machines: an investigation into the impact of the characteristics of the digital apparatus on poetic expression
This thesis aims to investigate digital methods of signification in order to examine the impact of the apparatus on poetic expression. This is done through a critical analysis of the translation process from analogue to digital, in the sense that even as we read a page we are in fact translating sight into sound. The resulting effects of this change in form are explored in order to understand their impact on meaning-making in the digital realm. Through this interrogation the comprehension and definition of ePoetry (electronic poetry or digital poetry) is extended, by exposing the unique affordances
and specificities of digital expression.
Digital poetry theorists such as Loss Pequeño Glazier posit that the emerging field of electronic literature is composed of interweaving strands from the areas of computer
science, sociology, and literary studies. This is reflected in the interdisciplinary nature of this thesis, which necessitates an engagement with the broad areas of translation, literature, and digital media studies. Currently the pervasiveness of digital technology
and access to the Internet means that the creation and consumption of online content such as ePoetry is becoming seamless and apparently effortless. Whilst recent studies
have explored electronic literature as a field, there is a noticeable deficit of research that specifically focuses on ePoetry, a deficit that this thesis seeks to rectify.
Within this work cybernetic and technosocial theories of communication are drawn on which provide as much emphasis on the apparatus, as is afforded to the author and
reader. Traditional poetry criticism is problematised with reference to its suitability for application to online works in order to develop a comprehensive ePoetry rhetoric
that explores not only what is being said, but also crucially how it is being said. Theories of translation are also used as a context in which to analyse the transposition
of poetry from analogue to digital. This framework then forms the basis for a study that explores the move from print to pixel by analysing qualitative ePoet interviews as
well as their corresponding ePoems

Media coverage analysis of the four most important federal laws is carried out. These legislative initiatives - "The law on the protection of children", "Lugovoi's law", "Russian SOPA" and the "Blogger law" regulate legal relations in the Russian segment of the Internet. The research shows that Russian and foreign media reaction to these laws is sharply negative and quite similar. The author assumes that there are various reasons for this assessment. The Russian media see these laws as the violation of fundamental freedoms of speech and expression and regard them as the tool of censorship and suppression of opposition. The situation is quite natural, because the legal field of Internet regulation in Russia is now at the initial stage and legislators sometimes react too rigidly to the rapidly changing reality and growing influence of the virtual space, while foreign media direct their criticism primaryly to the Russian political regime, using it as the tool of information warfare and pressure on the world public opinion

Analysis and design of a limit-cycle envelope amplifier for wireless transmitters
Limit-cycle or self-oscillating power amplifiers (SOPAs) are seen as a compact option to achieve efficient yet linear amplification of either complete RF signals or only their base-band envelopes. This paper summarizes the work carried out in the Master Thesis of the author, which consisted on the analysis and design of a limit-cycle amplifier, taking into account the propagation delay of the relay. For that, the theory of its working principle is discussed, and a prototype is built. During the work, a method to increase the self oscillation frequency for a fixed propagation delay and loop filter was proposed, which consists on replacing the relay with one that exhibits a novel kind of hysteresis. To validate the concept, simulations are carried out to compare the behavior of existing types of SOPA with the proposed one
