Characterization and modelling of the PEKK thermomechanical and creep behavior above the glass transition temperature
The present work focuses on the characterization and the modelling of the PEKK 7002 thermomechanical behavior at temperatures between the glass transition temperature, Tg (≈160 °C), and 200 °C, as experienced in tensile, load-unload-reload and creep-recovery tests. A novel strain measurement image analysis based tool (IAT) is presented and compared with existing measurement setup, and employed for the validation of the strain measurement acquired during the thermomechanical tests. The crystallization kinetics between 165 °C and 200 °C is described and the coupling with thermomechanical solicitations is investigated. An analytical description of the identified mechanisms is proposed for the tensile, load – unload and creep-recovery solicitations and it constitutes a 1-D model of PEKK 7002, which is employed for understanding the experimental results
Characterization of the subventricular zone of the adult human brain: evidence for the involvement of Bcl-2
The subventricular zone (SVZ) is an embryonic remnant that persists and remains mitotically active throughout adulthood. The rodent SVZ harbors neuronal precursors, principally in its anterior part, and generates neuroblasts that migrate tangentially into the olfactory bulb, thus forming the so-called rostral migratory stream. This study aimed at characterizing the SVZ in the human brain. Antibodies raised against the widely used SVZ molecular markers nestin, glial fibrillary acidic protein, beta-tubulin-III and polysialylated neural cell adhesion molecule, have allowed us to characterize in detail a zone similar to the rodent SVZ in humans. Virtually all portions of the lateral ventricle, as well as the ventral (hypothalamic) sector of the third ventricle, displayed immunoreactivity for most of the molecular markers. The midline region of the septum (septal recess) and the ventral portion of the SVZ displayed a particularly intense immunostaining for all SVZ markers. These two regions may represent zones of adult neurogenesis that are unique to primates. Furthermore, the anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2 was found to be actively synthesized and co-expressed with all the other markers throughout the entire SVZ. This study reveals that a well-developed SVZ exists in the adult human brain and suggests that Bcl-2 might play an important role in the functional organization of such a system
Assessment and simulation of the thermomechanical tensile and creep behavior of C/PEKK composites for aircraft applications above the glass transition temperature
The present work focuses on the assessment and the simulation of the thermomechanical tensile and creep behavior of Poly Ether Ketone Ketone 7002/carbon fibers composites behavior under tensile and creep solicitation between the glass transition temperature and 200 °C, via a multiscale approach starting from the behavior of the PEKK 7002 neat polymer. Tensile and creep polymer and composite experimental curves are employed to develop and validate generalized Semi – Analytical Homogenization / Localization Method for the simulation of the thermomechanical tensile and creep behavior of composite laminates. Through the employment of the model, a similarity of behavior between polymer and composites is demonstrated. The proposed algorithm capabilities of simulating the thermomechanical tensile and creep behavior of composites with different ply orientations and stacking sequences are then presented
L'aspect et la copule vide dans la grammaire des titres
M.-T. Vinet
The aim of this paper is to discuss the structure of predicate constructions without a copula in French headlines. We show that the categorial selection for the syntactic realization of predication is here partly determined by the semantic properties of a lexical verbal element. We also demonstrate the role of a non-overt Aspectual head in licensing DP predicates which are obligatorily free adjuncts in this register of French. Finally, a brief comparison of predicate constructions in Moroccan Arabic serves to emphasize the universality of certain aspects of these constructions.Vinet Marie-Thérèse. Coupling between thermal ageing/degradation and creep behavior of PEKK and C/PEKK composites above the glass transition temperature
The present work aims at investigating the coupling between thermal ageing/degradation and creep behavior of PEKK and C/PEKK composites at 200 °C, above the glass transition temperature (which is close to 160 °C). Ageing tests were carried out at 200 °C, under 5 bar of oxygen conditioned atmosphere. DSC scans and DMA tests were carried out. Tests results discussion were supported by indentation tests and image analysis of the aged specimen cross-section. Coupled oxidation-thermomechanical-creep tests were carried out on C/PEKK samples at 200 °C under a 5 bar O2 environment. The resulting strain response was compared to creep tests carried out on C/PEKK samples at 200 °C under air at similar creep stress. Such comparison allowed to investigate the presence of degradation phenomena in C/PEKK samples. The analysis of X-rays μ-tomography scans allowed investigating the possible occurrence of degradation, and to discriminate between pure thermal and thermomechanical coupling with degradation phenomena
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
