Stochastic Search Equilibrium
Get PDFWe analyze a stochastic equilibrium contract-posting model. Firms post employment contracts, wages contingent on all payoff-relevant states. Aggregate productivity is subject to persistent shocks. Both employed and unemployed workers search randomly for these contracts, and are free to quit at any time. An equilibrium of this contract-posting game is Rank-Preserving [RP] if larger firms offer a larger value to their workers in all states of the world. We show that every equilibrium is RP, and equilibrium is unique, if firms differ either only in their initial size, or also in their fixed idiosyncratic productivity but more productive firms are initially larger, in which case turnover is always efficient, as workers always move from less to more productive firms. The RP equilibrium stochastic dynamics of firm size provide an explanation for the empirical finding that large employers are more cyclically sensitive (Moscarini and Postel-Vinay, 2009). the normal inter atrial septum are illustrated, followed by representative examples of
all the possible defects of inter atrial septum. All the images have been reproduced in
a uniform pattern which is similar to the view of the inter atrial septum that is seen in

No full textDocente di storia del cristianesimo e teologia pratica alla Facoltà Valdese di Roma, Valdo Vinay è stato una delle figure di riferimento del protestantesimo italiano della seconda metà del Novecento. Molto vicino a K. Barth in termini di teologia sistematica, dal punto di vista storiografico ha lavorato intensamente sui classici della Riforma, quali Lutero e Calvino, ma anche sul protestantesimo italiano dell’Ottocento. Seguì con partecipazione le vicende del Concilio Vaticano II e si impegnò nel dialogo interconfessionale, collaborando con la Comunità di Sant’Egidio, il Segretariato Attività Ecumeniche, il Pontificio Ateneo S. Anselmo. Negli ultimi anni sostenne che la vocazione attuale del protestantesimo italiano fosse quella di stimolare il rinnovamento evangelico della Chiesa cattolica, posizione che lo rese una figura stimata ma piuttosto isolata nella sua comunità.

Professor of the history of Christianity and practical theology at the Waldensian Faculty in Rome, Valdo Vinay was one of the key figures of Italian Protestantism in the second half of the twentieth century. Very close to K. Barth in terms of systematic theology, he worked intensively on the classics of the Reformation, such as Luther and Calvin, as well as on Italian Protestantism of the nineteenth century from a historiographical perspective. He actively followed the events of the Second Vatican Council and engaged in interconfessional dialogue, collaborating with the Community of Sant\u27Egidio, the Ecumenical Activities Secretariat, and the Pontifical Athenaeum S. Anselmo. In recent years, he argued that the current vocation of Italian Protestantism was to stimulate the evangelical renewal of the Catholic Church, a position that made him a respected but somewhat isolated figure in his community.

Get PDF“Our discourse on race in this country has largely been framed around black or white,” said University of New Mexico civil rights law professor Vinay Harpalani.
But assumptions about varying shades of skin color can, for example, lead someone who is Indian, like himself, to be mistaken as Hispanic, he said.
Academics who’ve studied racial discrimination say discrimination based on a person’s skin-tone exists across many racial and ethnic groups and generally manifests as a systematic preference for lighter skin over darker skin.
Harpalani explains it can be the other way around in some instances, such as the bullying Clark experienced as a child.
Colorism “gives us a broader understanding of race and racism,” Harpalani explained. “It kind of shows how the same ideology of race and racism can be played out within groups and in different ways. As far as skin color goes there’s a hierarchy dating way back… to the days of slavery where lighter-skinned black slaves were treated better.

However, as Vinay Harpalani, associate professor of law at the University of New Mexico, has noted, “even when the U.S. Supreme Court makes rulings that seem to favor people of color, those rulings usually serve the interests of wealthy, elite White Americans.”
Harpalani cited how the Brown decision stemmed in part from Cold War strategy and the need for the United States to appeal to people in African, Asian and Latin American countries. “Racial segregation at home did not bode well in this context, especially when contrasted with communism’s emphasis on equality,” Harpalani said. “So civil rights advances like Brown also had the effect of increasing America’s global economic and military reach, which of course benefits elite White Americans the most.
