Salbiah*** Key words: cabbage, organic, poultry manure, nutrient and nitrate contents, soil improvement Abstract This study investigated the effects of various rates of an organic fertiliser (processed poultry manure) on the growth, yield and nutrient content of cabbage grown under shelter on a clay soil, in the lowlands. Treatments consisted of varying rates (0, 15, 30, 45 and 60 t/ha) of processed poultry manure (PPM). The control treatment was an inorganic fertiliser (N:P 2 O 5 :K 2 O: MgO = 12:12:17:2) applied at 2 t/ha. Canopy diameter increased significantly from 32.0-59.5 cm when PPM was increased from 0 -15 t/ha, while the corresponding values for head diameter were from 13.8-15.2 cm. A quadratic yield response to rates of organic fertiliser, represented by the equation Y= 9.832 + 0.636x -0.008x 2 , where Y = yield in t/ha and x = organic fertiliser in t/ha, was obtained. The optimum rate of organic fertiliser was 39.75 t/ha. Yield obtained at this rate was 22.47 t/ha. Organic fertiliser rates had significant effects on P and K contents in the outer leaves and, K and Ca contents in the head. Nitrate contents did not differ significantly. Organic fertiliser improved soil chemical properties compared to the inorganic fertiliser. It is concluded that about 40 t/ha of processed poultry manure as the sole source of nutrient, can be used as a guide for organic cultivation of lowland cabbage grown on clay soils under shelter

No full textIntroduction: Prematurity is the first cause of infant mortality (before 5 years of age). Complications due to prematurity are motor, cognitive and sensorineural disorders. Bobath concept is a tool that can be effective to treat motor disorders and it can be combined with Vimala massage for the cognitive and sensorineural disorders.
Objectives: To compare the effect of an early preventive long-term treatment with Bobath concept combined with Vimala massage with the effect of a treatment with Vimala massage only on postural control, functional mobility and quality of movement in very preterm children.
Methodology: Sample will be composed by 150 children born before or at 32 weeks of amenorrhea. They will be randomly divided in 2 groups of 75: one intervention group (Bobath + Vimala massage) and one control group (Vimala massage). Postural control will be assessed by the Test of Infant Motor Performance, functional mobility by the Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory-Computer Adaptive Test and quality of movement by the Alberta Infant Motor Scale. The measures will be realized before the intervention, at 15 days, at 1 year of corrected patient age and at 2 years of corrected patient age. It will be considered as significant value p < 0,05.
Expected results: A significant improvement of postural control, functional mobility and quality of movement in children of the intervention group is expected in comparison with those of the control group.
Conclusion: Bobath concept combined with Vimala massage can be more effective as a preventive treatment of motor disorders in very preterm children.Introducción: La prematuridad es la primera causa de muerte infantil (antes de 5 años). Las complicaciones debidas a la prematuridad son trastornos motores, cognitivos y neurosensoriales. El concepto Bobath es una herramienta que puede ser eficaz para tratar los trastornos motores y se puede combinar con masaje Vimala para los trastornos cognitivos y neurosensoriales.
Objetivos: Comparar el efecto de un tratamiento preventivo precoz a largo plazo con el concepto Bobath combinado con masaje Vimala al efecto de un tratamiento solo con masaje Vimala sobre el control postural, la movilidad funcional y la calidad de movimiento en niños grandes prematuros.
Metodología: La muestra será compuesta de 150 niños nacidos antes o a 32 semanas de amenorrea. Serán divididos aleatoriamente en 2 grupos de 75: un grupo intervención (Bobath + Masaje Vimala) y un grupo control (Masaje Vimala). Se valorará el control postural con el Test of Infant Motor Performance, la movilidad funcional con el Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory-Computer Adaptive Test y la calidad de movimiento con la Alberta Infant Motor Scale. Las medidas serán realizadas antes del tratamiento, a los 15 días, a 1 año de edad corregida del paciente y a los 2 años de edad corregida del paciente. Se considerará como valor significativo p < 0,05.
