The growth in usage of addictive substances among adolscents raises requirement in studying this topic even in younger age. Pilot research covered 149 children from Czech Republic at the age of 9,62. Results was obtained by project International Visegrad Fund No. 11320057. The survey was aimed on usage of addictive substances and attitudes towards them. Based on the result, we states, that children from research group have experiences especially with drinking of alcohol (wine 72,48 %; plum brandy etc. 43,62 %). Alcohol is usually offered by parents or familly members (26,17 %). An experience with smoking have 33,56 % of probands and 8,5 % from them smokes repeatedly. Alarming is fact, that some probands (5 %) was offered even a drug (marihuanna). The necessary support of preventive programs focused on active spending of leisure time and active lifestyle is obviuos. The state should support the creation and realization of these programs.Miklánková Ludmila, Reich Petr, Klimešová Iva, Rechtik Zdeněk. Substances in the life of children 8–10 years old. Title: Comparison of pubescents' achievement in leisure time activities and in school Author: Mgr. Bc. Iva Žlábková Doctoral advisor: doc. PhDr. Jaroslav Koťa Year of submission of dissertation: 2012 Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague, Department of Education The dissertation has a theoretically-empirical character and deals with the solution to the problem of comparing the pubescents' achievement in leisure activities and in school. The aim of the work was to map out the theoretical solutions of the problem and their authentication via the research survey. In the theoretical part of the work, first of all, the achievement in education processes is analyzed from the point of view of sociological theories and researches. Subsequently the analysis of the causes of school pubescents' achievement and underachievement follows. On the basis of the analysis the assumptions are deduced for pubescents' achievement in organized leisure time activities. The empirical part of the work describes a quantitatively oriented research which includes a solution to the research problem: "What is the relationship between the pubescents' achievement in their leisure time activities and in school?" The questionnaire method and the semantic differential have been used to solve the research problem. The..

The 19 Unifying Questionnaire Constructs of Artificial Social Agents

    No full text
In this paper, we report on the multi-year Intelligent Virtual Agents (IVA) community effort, involving more than 80 researchers worldwide, researching the IVA community interests and practises in evaluating human interaction with an artificial social agent (ASA). The effort is driven by previous IVA workshops and plenary IVA discussions related to the methodological crisis on the evaluation of ASAs. A previous literature review showed a continuous practise of creating new questionnaires instead of reusing validated questionnaires. We address this issue by examining questionnaire measurement constructs used in empirical studies between 2013 to 2018 published in the IVA conference. We identified 189 constructs used in 89 questionnaires that are reported across 81 studies. Although these constructs have different names, they often measure the same thing. In this paper, we, therefore, present a unifying set of 19 constructs that captures more than 80% of the 189 constructs initially identified. We established this set in two steps. First, 49 researchers classified the constructs in broad theoretically based categories. Next, 23 researchers grouped the constructs in each category on their similarity. The resulting 19 groups form a unifying set of constructs, which will be the basis for the future questionnaire instrument of human-ASA interaction.Green Open Access added to TU Delft Institutional Repository ‘You share, we take care!’ – Taverne project https://www.openaccess.nl/en/you-share-we-take-care Otherwise as indicated in the copyright section: the publisher is the copyright holder of this work and the author uses the Dutch legislation to make this work public.Interactive Intelligenc

Questionnaire Items for Evaluating Artificial Social Agents - Expert Generated, Content Validated and Reliability Analysed

In this paper, we report on the multi-year Intelligent Virtual Agents (IVA) community effort, involving more than 90 researchers worldwide, researching the IVA community interests and practice in evaluating human interaction with an artificial social agent (ASA). The joint efforts have previously generated a unified set of 19 constructs that capture more than 80% of constructs used in empirical studies published in the IVA conference between 2013 to 2018. In this paper, we present expert-content-validated 131 questionnaire items for the constructs and their dimensions, and investigate the level of reliability. We establish this in three phases. Firstly, eight experts generated 431 potential construct items. Secondly, 20 experts rated whether items measure (only) their intended construct, resulting in 207 content-validated items. Next, a reliability analysis was conducted, involving 192 crowd-workers who were asked to rate a human interaction with an ASA, which resulted in 131 items (about 5 items per measurement, with Cronbach's alpha ranged [.60 - .87]). These are the starting points for the questionnaire instrument of human-ASA interaction.Interactive Intelligenc

O IVA na Atividade de Empreitadas na Construção Civil

    No full text

    No full text
In recent decades, the tax burden in the context of Urban Regeneration has been a relevant topic among investors at the decision-making moment. In particular, the tax incentives connected to VAT on Urban Regeneration works represent a very attractive benefit. Much discussion has taken place around paragraph 2.23 of List I, annexed to the Portuguese VAT Code, whether due to inconsistencies in administrative guidelines, due to the diversity of jurisprudence and doctrine, or due to the most recent proposal to amend the paragraph in the “Mais Habitação” package of measures proposed by the government. For this reason, we aim to identify the main problems that have arisen in the interpretation and application of paragraph 2.23 of List I, annexed to the VAT Code, seeking to offer solutions to the identified issues

Direct replacement of antibodies with molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) nanoparticles in ELISA - development of a novel assay for vancomycin

    No full text
A simple and straightforward technique for coating microplate wells with molecularly imprinted polymer nanoparticles (nanoMIPs) to develop ELISA type assays is presented here for the first time. NanoMIPs were synthesized by a solid phase approach with immobilized vancomycin (template) and characterized using Biacore 3000, dynamic light scattering and electron microscopy. Immobilization, blocking and washing conditions were optimized in microplate format. The detection of vancomycin was achieved in competitive binding experiments with a HRP-vancomycin conjugate. The assay was capable of measuring vancomycin in buffer and in blood plasma within the range 0.001-70 nM with a detection limit of 0.0025 nM (2.5 pM). The sensitivity of the assay was three orders of magnitude better than a previously described ELISA based on antibodies. In these experiments nanoMIPs have shown high affinity and minimal interference from blood plasma components. Immobilized nanoMIPs were stored for 1 month at room temperature without any detrimental effects to their binding properties. The high affinity of nanoMIPs and the lack of a requirement for cold chain logistics make them an attractive alternative to traditional antibodies used in ELIS

Agents United: An Open Platform for Multi-Agent Conversational Systems

    No full text
The development of applications with intelligent virtual agents (IVA) often comes with integration of multiple complex components. In this article we present the Agents United Platform: an open source platform that researchers and developers can use as a starting point to setup their own multi-IVA applications. The new platform provides developers with a set of integrated components in a sense-remember-think-act architecture. Integrated components are a sensor framework, memory component, Topic Selection Engine, interaction manager (Flipper), two dialogue execution engines, and two behaviour realisers (ASAP and GRETA) of which the agents can seamlessly interact with each other. This article discusses the platform and its individual components. It also highlights some of the novelties that arise from the integration of components and elaborates on directions for future work.Interactive Intelligenc
