Springback, the elastic recovery of material on the release of applied load, is the major factor in obtaining the accurate and consistent dimensions of the final parti The mechanics of springback is essential for its effective prediction and compensation. The aim of the paper is to present a theoretical analysis of the torsional springback in thin tubes ofbi-linear work hardening material. The bi-linear behavior of the material is approximated by using modified Ludwik type stress-strain relation. The theoretical analysis is based on membrane and sand heap analogies. The analytical calculations establishes relationship for angle of twist to twisting moment and residual/springback angle of twist per unit length for thin tubes under plastic torsion in non-dimensionalized form. The theoretical analysis is supported by experiments performed on thin tubes of mild steel and aluminium with different geometry and mechanical properties. A comparison between the results obtained for thin tubes on bi-linear and nonlinear work-hardening material loaded under torsion is also made

A theoretical analysis of the springback of thin tubular sections of non linear work-hardening materials under torsional loading has been carried out. The non-linear behavior of the material is approximated by using Modified Ludwik type stress-strain relation. The theoretical analysis is supported by experimental results for different tubular section viz. square, triangular and rectangular sections of different thicknesses. Finally analytical generalized expressions relating angle of twist to twisting moment and residual/springback angle of twist per unit length for thin tubular bars under plastic torsion are obtained in non-dimensionalized form. A comparison between the results obtained for thin tubes on non-linear and linear work-hardening material loaded under torsion is also made

The current paper examines the WCCoCr coatings using HVOF sprayed on AISI316L stainless steel and their oxidation behaviour 50 cycles at 900 °C. Oxidation kinetics was developed by calculating weight changes for uncoated and cermet sprayed samples, and the outcomes were evaluated against uncoated and coated stainless steel. Element mapping, EDS, FESEM, and XRD methods were used to examine uncoated and coated AISI316L oxidation samples. Non-protective oxide scale Fe2O3 is formed and broken due to oxidation in the uncoated sample. The scale's high Fe2O3 content caused considerable weight gain in uncoated AISI316L steel substrate. On the other hand, WCCoCr HVOF sprayed samples to have an oxide scale, and it was found that the protective Cr2O3 and WO3 phases offered notable oxidation resistance. The cermet coating reduced the weight gain of AISI316L stainless steel by 73.83%. The HVOF-sprayed AISI316L stainless steel showed superior oxidation resistance to an uncoated specimen

Sustainable Performance Assessment towards Sustainable Consumption and Production: Evidence from the Indian Dairy Industry

The current global economic status quo is widely seen as unsustainable in the food sector. The field of sustainability science is still rather fragmented, covering a wide range of techniques and issues, despite the large number of publications in this area. Due to population growth, the food supply chain (FSC) and farmers have to produce more food. The UN estimates that one-third of edible food is wasted, producing greenhouse gases. A balance must be struck between company operations and social, environmental, and economic activities for sustainable development of the FSC. To assist FSC organizations in managing sustainable advancement, this study created a methodology for the assessment of sustainable performance. We provide a sustainable assessment system using a fuzzy analytic hierarchy process, fuzzy VIKOR, and fuzzy TOPSIS. Our research framework evaluated the sustainability of three cooperative-society-run Indian dairy firms. Our study gives environmental criteria the highest weight (0.33) and social criteria the lowest (0.16), with economic reasons (0.306) and business operations (0.204) falling in the middle. Supply chain costs, on average, are given the highest weight, and capacity utilization, the lowest weight. Three dairy industries are ranked (DPI3, DPI1, and DPI2) based on sustainable performance. By modifying the maximum set utility value and validating VIKOR results with TOPSIS, we have checked the robustness of this performance assessment tool. This research aids dairy businesses in achieving several Sustainable Development Goals, including sustainable production and consumption, through the regular assessment of their sustainable performance

Circular economy adoption challenges in the food supply chain for sustainable development

Food loss and waste are major issues in the food industry, and they affect all stages of the food supply chain (FSC). Food loss and waste are linked to environmental deterioration, economic loss, and an increase in hunger. Therefore, the food industry requires sustainable consumption and production (SCP) to reduce losses and waste. The circular economy (CE) concept has become a popular strategy for reducing food waste and boosting sustainability. Therefore, with efficient reverse logistics in the FSC, food producers can help achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs) like SCP and zero hunger. In literature, minimal research has been available in identifying the CE adoption challenges in FSC. This research identifies 15 critical challenges from the literature and discussion with the panel of experts. The relationship between the challenges has been established through an interpretive structural modeling (ISM) technique. The challenges were characterized in cause–effect according to their relational intensity obtained using the grey decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) technique. Grey's relational theory is applied in DEMATEL to minimize uncertainty and vagueness of the expert judgment. The findings of this study suggest that creating policy from the government, providing incentives, and strictly enforcing environmental regulations are the most critical challenge. Hence, by focusing on the above, the effective adoption of the CE principle is achieved. This result also suggests that by addressing the challenges of CE, corporate social responsibility (CSR) can be performed. This study provides some recommendations for the practitioners to adopt CE towards sustainable development targets

Food security necessitates a multifaceted strategy, ranging from social protection to providing healthy food. Change in existing food systems is needed to create a more equitable and sustainable society. Hunger is one of the significant challenges in the world that arise due to food insecurity, bad quality, food waste, and losses that leads to damage of public health. The implementation of green food supply chain management (GFSCM) practices in the food supply chain helps in lowering food wastage, carbon emissions, food quality, and safety. To strengthen food security/safety and quality, digital transformation of the supply chain is required, and IoT and blockchain can help in achieving this. Digital transformation of GFSCM has helped to improve food security, safety and quality control. This study identifies modern enablers of food security, safety and quality that transform the GFSCM through Internet of things (IoT) and blockchain to reduce hunger. Zero hunger goal is far behind in India as India reported 117th rank in hunger index, indicating an urgent need to study the digital transformation in green food supply chain towards achieving food quality and security. In this study twelve enablers out of 16 suggested in earlier literatures has been selected and reconfirmed with the feedback of seventeen academia and Industrial experts from Indian food supply chain. We used a two-step combined Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) and Analytical Network Process (ANP) technique to examine the enablers contextual interrelationships and significance weights. Findings reveal that IoT and blockchain technologies are the main actuators of the contemporary GFSCM enabling system. ISM provides eight core enablers system that can transform the GFSCM digitally to achieve food quality and security along with achieving zero hunger (SDG2). Inventory management is the least ranked enabler, whereas IoT and blockchain are the top two. Towards achieving zero hunger, some management, theoretical, and policy implications have been suggested.Journal of Cleaner Productio
