The Spoken Wikipedia Corpora
The Spoken Wikipedia project unites volunteer readers of Wikipedia articles. Hundreds of spoken articles in multiple languages are available to users who are – for one reason or another – unable or unwilling to consume the written version of the article. Our resource, the Spoken Wikipedia Corpus, consolidates the Spoken Wikipediae, adding text segmentation, normalization, time-alignment and further annotations, making it accessible for research and fostering new ways of interacting with the material.

European Society for Paediatric Infectious Diseases Consensus Recommendations for Rotavirus Vaccination in Europe: Update 2014
The first evidence-based recommendations for rotavirus (RV) vaccination in Europe were prepared at the time of licensure of 2 live oral RV vaccines (Rotarix, GlaxoSmithKline Biologicals, and RotaTeq, Sanofi Pasteur MSD) in 2006 and published in 2008. Since then several countries in Europe and more globally have adopted universal RV vaccination of all healthy infants as part of their national immunization programs (NIPs). The experience from these NIPs has produced a wealth of post-introduction effectiveness data that, together with the evidence from prelicensure efficacy trials presented in the 2008 Recommendations, support the case of RV vaccination in Europe. The prelicensure safety trials of Rotarix and RotaTeq, each in populations of more than 60,000 infants, did not reveal risk of intussusception (IS), but postvaccination surveillance in several countries, particularly Australia and Mexico, has established that the risk of IS for both vaccines after the first dose might be between 1:50,000 and 1:80,000. Although it may be argued that the risk is acceptable vis-à-vis the great benefits of RV vaccination, this argument alone may not suffice, and every effort should be made to reduce the risk of IS. Considerable evidence, including postvaccination surveillance data from Germany, suggests that the risk of IS can be reduced by early administration of the first dose of oral RV vaccine. The previous European Society for Paediatric Infectious Diseases/European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition recommendations held that the first dose of oral RV vaccine should be given between 6 and 12 weeks of age; this recommendation is sustained but with an emphasis toward the lower range of the recommended age, that is, preferably between 6 and 8 weeks of age. At the time of the earlier recommendations, experience of RV vaccination in premature infants and other special target groups was limited. It is now recommended with greater confidence than before that prematurely born infants should be vaccinated according to their calendar age as recommended for full-term infants. It is now strongly recommended that all HIV-infected or HIV-exposed infants should be vaccinated with oral RV vaccine. Although specific information on many immunodeficiencies is lacking, infants with known severe combined immunodeficiency should not receive live RV vaccine

Implementing Universal Varicella Vaccination in Europe: The Path Forward
Varicella is a common vaccine-preventable disease that usually presents as a mild disorder but can lead to severe complications. Before the implementation of universal varicella vaccination (UVV) in some European countries, the burden of varicella disease was broadly similar across the region. Despite this, countries adopted heterogeneous varicella vaccination strategies. UVV is currently recommended in 12 European countries. Known barriers to UVV implementation in Europe include (1) a perceived low disease burden and low public health priority; (2) cost-effectiveness and funding availability; (3) concerns related to a shift in varicella disease and incidence of herpes zoster and (4) safety concerns related to measles, mumps, rubella and varicella-associated febrile seizures after the first dose. Countries that implemented UVV experienced decreases in varicella incidence, hospitalizations and complications, showing overall beneficial impact. Alternative strategies targeting susceptible individuals at higher risk of complications have been less effective. This article discusses ways to overcome the barriers to move varicella forward as a truly vaccine preventable disease

Este artículo presenta un estudio sobre la educación artística comunitaria en la Universidad de Laponia en Finlandia. En primer lugar se analizan las líneas principales de este modelo formativo y de su plan de estudios. En segundo lugar se presenta una entrevista con Timo Jokela, Decano de la Facultad de Arte y Diseño de la Universidad de Laponia y director del Departamento de Educación Artística en esa misma Facultad. En la entrevista Timo Jokela habla de las relaciones entre arte, medio ambiente, comunidad y educación partiendo de su propia experiencia como artista y centrado en el contexto finlandés. También sobre los aspectos sociales, culturales, artísticos y educativos que están implícitos en el modelo de educación artística comunitaria que se pone en práctica, como itinerario formativo, en la Universidad de Laponia.
This article presents a study on community-based art education at the University of Lapland in Finland. First, the main guidelines of this training model and its curriculum are analysed. Second, the author includes an interview with Timo Jokela, Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design of The University of Lapland in Finland and Director of the Department of Art Education at the same faculty. In the interview Timo Jokela draws upon his own experience as an artist in Finland to talk about the relationships between art, the environment, community and education. He also talks about the social, cultural, artistic and educational aspects, which are central to the community-based art education scheme in place at The University of Lapland
