TRA VALORIZZAZIONE DEL PATRIMONIO E GEOTURISMO: APPROCCI SOSTENIBILI PER LA RIGENERAZIONE DEI GEOPARKS UNESCO
The research stems from the desire to understand the importance of natural and cultural heritage within the processes of enhancing and regenerating a territory, highlighting how sustainable tourism can serve as a catalyst for designing, planning, and defining intervention strategies aimed at local development. Within UNESCO heritage sites, these territorial policies are highly focused on, particularly in Geoparks. Arising from grassroots management needs, the heritage of Geoparks is not strictly associated with geological heritage but is valued according to its relationships with natural, cultural, and intangible heritage. To identify the most virtuous and effective management strategies related to tourism, an initial analysis was conducted on European UNESCO Geoparks. Five
Geoparks were selected, followed by a comparative assessment with quantitative evaluations of the results obtained. The same approach was applied to understand the dynamics of Geoparks in Italy, specifically analyzing the Madonie Geopark in Sicily and the Sesia Val Grande Park in Piedmont. In comparing them with European countries, the latent potential of Italy’s rural built heritage emerged. The discovery of residual quality elements could lead to the implementation of the action plan through the recovery of these architectures for tourism purposes
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
ARCHITETTURE DISMESSE: RAPPRESENTAZIONE E VALORIZZAZIONE
The starting point of this brief study is the knowledge of an industrial complex known as the headquarters of the former Federazione dei Consorzi Agrari, built between 1938-40 in Catania by architect Francesco Fiducia. The study and enhancement of disused and abandoned architectures implies a multidisciplinary approach in which architectural history, conservation and representation can play a decisive role. Through a reflection on the meaning of knowledge, preservation and protection, the contribution aims to propose, by means of digital representation techniques, new possibilities for the fruition of an architecture no longer accessible but of great value for the history of the city of Catania
I balconi in travertino di Alcamo. Analisi e conoscenza per un recupero compatibile
This study analyses the construction techniques of balconies made of Travertine in the historical building of Alcamo, a small town in western Sicily. The study, supported by tests of mechanical characterisation of the travertine, provides the first supporting information for the proposal of intervention methods for compatible consolidation and restoration. After analysing the general characteristics of balconies in historical construction in the Mediterranean area, the individual components of the balconies of Alcamo - the soils and corbels - were analysed from a geometric-constructive and static point of view. In the second part of the paper, the results of the laboratory mechanical tests performed on the travertine are analysed, and some considerations are proposed based on the comparison between the results of the verification performed with the finite element method (FEM) and the failures found in real cases. The main purpose of this study is to provide the first data to contribute to the definition of good practices for a compatible recovery of these fragile architectural elements for which indiscriminate demolition is increasingly resorted to in the event of instability

A retroperitoneal cyst with unusual urinary histogenesis: clinical and immunomorphological characteristics
Primary retroperitoneal cysts are rare benign lesions which often present as an incidental radiological finding and also cause abdominal symptoms. A 47-year-old woman was admitted to the surgery unit because of right-sided abdominal pain. Computed tomographic scan investigation confirmed a circumscribed, oval, dishomogeneous mass in the right anterior pararenal space. The final diagnosis was obtained after laparotomy excision and pathological evaluation. Immunohistochemical profile was characterized by positive expression of epithelial cystic cells for CKAE1/AE3, CK7, CK8, and CK18, with EMA sustaining the diagnosis of a benign retroperitoneal cyst of urinary system origin
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
