PERCEPÇÕES DISCENTES SOBRE AVALIAÇÃO: ENTRE PARADIGMAS DE REGULAÇÃO E DE EMANCIPAÇÃO
Get PDFWithin a context marked by social inequality and elevated levels of anxiety among young people, it is essential to understand the meanings attributed to assessment practices and the impacts they generate on students. This study aims to examine the interpretations and significances ascribed to Mathematics assessments, and how students’ perceptions are articulated in relation to mechanisms of symbolic power and the ideologies embedded within the school environment. The research adopts a qualitative approach, grounded in the theoretical perspectives of Bourdieu, Apple, and Giroux, as well as in the Discursive Textual Analysis developed by Moraes and Galiazzi. Data were obtained through a questionnaire completed by 58 students from a public secondary school. Three analytical categories emerged from the corpus: emotional impacts and self-esteem; social and familial relationships; and the function and meaning of assessments. The findings suggest that students frequently associate assessments with feelings of fear, frustration, and inferiority, often internalising academic failure as a form of personal inadequacy. The influence of familial context and the availability of cultural capital also shape their experiences with Mathematics. The majority of participants perceive assessments not primarily as tools to support learning, but rather as instruments of control and selection.En un contexto marcado por la desigualdad social y los elevados niveles de ansiedad entre los jóvenes, resulta fundamental comprender los significados atribuidos a las prácticas evaluativas y los impactos que estas generan en el alumnado. El presente estudio tiene como objetivo analizar los sentidos y significados conferidos a las evaluaciones en Matemáticas, así como la manera en que las percepciones del alumnado se articulan con los mecanismos de poder simbólico y con las ideologías presentes en el espacio escolar. La investigación adopta un enfoque cualitativo, sustentado en los marcos teóricos de Bourdieu, Apple y Giroux, así como en el Análisis Textual Discursivo desarrollado por Moraes y Galiazzi. Los datos fueron obtenidos a partir de un cuestionario respondido por 58 estudiantes de un centro educativo público. Del corpus analizado emergieron tres categorías interpretativas: impactos emocionales y autoestima; relaciones sociales y familiares; y función y sentido de las evaluaciones. Los resultados evidencian que el alumnado suele asociar las evaluaciones con sentimientos de miedo, frustración e inferioridad, interiorizando el fracaso académico como una forma de incapacidad personal. El contexto familiar y el capital cultural disponible también influyen significativamente en sus experiencias con las Matemáticas. La mayoría percibe las evaluaciones no tanto como instrumentos de apoyo al aprendizaje, sino más bien como mecanismos de control y selección.Em um contexto de desigualdade social e altos níveis de ansiedade entre os jovens, é fundamental entender os significados atribuídos às avaliações e os impactos que elas produzem nos alunos. O objetivo é compreender os sentidos e significados atribuídos às avaliações em Matemática e de que forma as percepções dos alunos se articulam com os mecanismos de poder simbólico e com as ideologias presentes no espaço escolar. A pesquisa é qualitativa, com centralidade nos pressupostos teóricos de Bourdieu, Apple, Giroux, na Análise Textual Discursiva de Moraes e Galiazzi e nas respostas de um questionário respondido por 58 alunos de uma escola pública. A partir da análise do corpus emergiram três categorias: impactos emocionais e autoestima; relações sociais e familiares; função e sentido das avaliações. Os resultados indicam que os alunos associam as avaliações a sentimentos de medo, frustração e inferioridade, internalizando o fracasso como incapacidade pessoal. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
