Initial Version of Matlab/Simulink Based Tool for VHDL Code Generation and FPGA Implementation of Elementary Generalized Unitary Rotation
This paper describes a Matlab/Simulink GUI based tool for automated FPGA implementation of complex Jacobi-like Elementary Generalized Unitary rotation (EGU-rotation). The present work is targeted on multiplier-adder based rotation algorithm. The developed tool supports a large number of EGU-rotation matrix (EGURM) faces. The Symbolic Math Toolbox is used for operations with formulas. An intensive text processing has been used to get elementary expressions suitable for HDL coding. The tool uses Simulink HDL coder to generate implementable VHDL code. Three kinds of tests and a comparison of results are used. Estimation of rotation quality is based on the mean square error. An interaction between Matlab/Simulink and Altera Quartus II/ModelSim involves the using of scripts
Initial Version of FPGA-Based CRAIMOT Spectrum Analyzer
This paper describes the first implementation of Altera's FPGA-based CRAIMOT domain spectrum analyzer. The basics of CRAIMOT spectrum analysis are given. Some examples of shapes of basis function(s) (BF) and spectrum are presented. The core of spectrum analyzer is a serial generator of CRAIMOT BFs that generates each value as a product of powers of sine and cosine values for a given set of rotation angles (parameters). The CRAIMOT spectrum analyzer is implemented as Altera’s Cyclone FPGA. A simplified block diagram and parameters of the analyzer are provided. CRAIMOT spectrum express analysis of speech is aimed to be the first application of the analyzer
Initial FPGA Design for Generalized Orthogonal Nonsinusoidal Division Multiplexing
Generalized Orthogonal Nonsinusoidal Division Multiplexing (GONDM) is a novel multicarrier modulation technique and a promising alternative to the well established OFDM and the wavelet based OWDM. Complex CRAIMOT (CCRAIMOT) transform is used in GONDM, as an alternative of conventional IFFT/FFT. Simplified digital parts of GONDM transmitter and receiver have been implemented into Altera's FPGA. Hardware tests of simplified GONDM with AWGN channel in the baseband have been performed. Bit error rate (BER) performances of OFDM and GONDM for different rotation angles and QPSK mapping are compared. Preliminary results show that GONDM is a promising modulation technique for the building of adaptive data transmission systems
Automation of FPGA Implementation of Unitary Transforms Based on Elementary Generalized Unitary Rotation
This paper presents the basics of complex Jacobi-like Elementary Generalized Unitary rotation (EGU rotation) and the basics of building of parametrical unitary transforms using EGU rotations. EGU rotation matrix (EGURM) is multifaceted and takes 64 different shapes and up to several hundred faces for different sets of used angles. For EGURM addressing, up to 8 parameters are necessary. Multiplier adder based rotation algorithm is discussed in more detail because of its suitability for high speed applications. The number of multipliers and adders varies in a wide range. The development of devices based on unitary transforms is a task of high complexity. The present work can be treated as a basis for or a road map to development of automated tools

This paper presents the basics of fast orthonormal parametrical transform called as “Constant Rotation Angle In Matrix Orthonormal (orthogonal) Transform” (CRAIMOT), briefly described in [1]. This transform can be treated as a parametrical transform or a class of transforms. Some examples of shapes of basis functions (BFs) are presented. The algorithm for generation of CRAIMOT BF is based on the product of powers of sine and cosine values for a given set of rotation angles (parameters). Introduction into the Parametrical Decomposition-Reconstruction Filters Based on Haar-like Orthonormal Transforms
Novel classes of orthogonal (orthonormal) Decomposition Recons-truction Filter(s) (DeReFs) are presented. Described DeReFs work similarly to classical Haar or other DeReFs (e.g. wavelets filters). But, the present filters use generalized Haar transforms (Rotation Angle based Haar-like transforms – RA HT) in contrast to the well known Haar DeReFs. Additionally, RA HT DeReFs behave like parametrical devices in dependency on rotation angles (parameters). The filters can be used for both extraction and rejection of arbitrary signals. An example of extraction of the single pulse-like signal by the Constant RA HT (CRA HT) filter is provided. Preliminary results show a noticeable improvement of extraction in comparison to the classical Haar DeReF
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
