Interface and results visualization of WMN-GA simulation system: evaluation for exponential and Weibull distributions considering different transmission rates

We call this system WMN-GA. As evaluation parameters, we consider Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), throughput and delay metrics. For simulations, we used ns-3 simulator and Hybrid Wireless Mesh Protocol (HWMP). From simulation results, we found that PDR for Weibull distribution is higher than Exponential distribution. But, the throughput of Exponential distribution is higher than Weibull distribution. Increasing Trustworthiness of Face Authentication in Mobile Devices by Modeling Gesture Behavior and Location Using Neural Networks
Personal mobile devices currently have access to a significant portion of their user’s private sensitive data and are increasingly used for processing mobile payments. Consequently, securing access to these mobile devices is a requirement for securing access to the sensitive data and potentially costly services. Face authentication is one of the promising biometrics-based user authentication mechanisms that has been widely available in this era of mobile computing. With a built-in camera capability on smartphones, tablets, and laptops, face authentication provides an attractive alternative of legacy passwords for its memory-less authentication process, which is so sophisticated that it can unlock the device faster than a fingerprint. Nevertheless, face authentication in the context of smartphones has proven to be vulnerable to attacks. In most current implementations, a sufficiently high-resolution face image displayed on another mobile device will be enough to circumvent security measures and bypass the authentication process. In order to prevent such bypass attacks, gesture recognition together with location is proposed to be additionally modeled. Gestures provide a faster and more convenient method of authentication compared to a complex password. The focus of this paper is to build a secure authentication system with face, location and gesture recognition as components. User gestures and location data are a sequence of time series; therefore, in this paper we propose to use unsupervised learning in the long short-term memory recurrent neural network to actively learn to recognize, group and discriminate user gestures and location. Moreover, a clustering-based technique is also implemented for recognizing gestures and location

Although computer supported collaborative learning has been widely adopted in many educational institutions over the last decade, there exist still drawbacks which limit their potential in collaborative learning activities. Among these limitations, we investigate information security requirements in on-line assessment, (e-assessment), which can be developed in collaborative learning contexts. Despite information security enhancements have been developed in recent years, to the best of our knowledge, integrated and holistic security models have not been completely carried out yet. Even when security advanced methodologies and technologies are deployed in learning management systems, too many types of vulnerabilities still remain opened and unsolved. Therefore, new models such as trustworthiness approaches can overcome these lacks and support e-assessment requirements for e-Learning. To this end, a holistic security model is designed, implemented and evaluated in a real context of e-Learning. Implications of this study are remarked for secure assessment in on-line collaborative learning through effective trustworthiness approaches.Peer Reviewe
DMA zoning at Regional Water Company Prishtina - Prishtina Distribution Network
Pavements Many water utilities operate their pipe networks as an open system where water is fed from more than one Water Treatment Plant (WTP) into an inter-connected pipe network. Generally, NRW management in an open system is undertaken in a passive manner where NRW reduction activities are initiated only when the loss becomes visible or is reported. A more effective approach is to move towards Active NRW Management where dedicated teams are established and sent out to look for water losses or other causes of NRW such as reservoir overflows, in main pipes, distribution networks up to the customer, inaccurate meter reading, and illegal connections. Active NRW Management is more cost effective when using zones to measure the NRW, where the system as a whole is divided into a series of smaller sub-systems for which NRW can be calculated individually. These smaller sub-systems, often referred to as District Meter Areas (DMAs) should be hydraulically isolated so that dedicated team would be able to calculate the volume of water lost within the DMA. When a supply system is divided into smaller more manageable areas, the utility can better target NRW reduction activities, isolate water quality problems, and better manage overall system pressure to allow for 24/7 water supply throughout the network. These include the analysis of minimum night time flows (MNFs) into District Metered Areas (DMAs), as well as the results of active leakage control surveys carried out in District Metered Areas. The author seek to emphasize that from his professional experience at Prishtina Regional Water Utility, the issue regarding NWR, in most of the Water companies in Kosovo and or in Albania, should focus on one of aggressive, system-wide metering from sources, to production and storage reservoir meters, through district metering areas, and finally to customer meters. Therefore, this paper will contain network zoning and design of DMA, active control of leakages, and achieved results in water loss reduction in metered areas. Customer Relationship Management is the most vigorous tools in our era and is the integration of trust, business and technology to gratify the requirements of the clients. CRM is a strategy of dealing with people, technology and process and need to be implemented precisely. CRM is the most outstanding business strategy that consolidates internal procedures and externals to generate and convey value to the spotted customers and CRM can easily neutralize competitive perils, provide a good source of roadmap for the company and customers. Moreover it may clarify the potential pitfalls in creating success for the company.CRM involves validating and evaluating critical success factors, which cover the three perspectives of CRM as the theoretical base, and which constitute a guide for companies in the implementation of the applications. Due to this, the desired benefits have intensified customer satisfaction and maintenance, by generating personalized products and value-added services. In this paper, the author investigates the factors that can positively leverage the implementation and use of CRM and creates differentiation among these factors and knowledge management factors. Towards Trustworthy Edge Intelligence: Insights from Voice-Activated Services
In an age of surveillance capitalism, anchoring the design of emerging smart services in trustworthiness is urgent and important. Edge Intelligence, which brings together the fields of AI and Edge computing, is a key enabling technology for smart services. Trustworthy Edge Intelligence should thus be a priority research concern. However, determining what makes Edge Intelligence trustworthy is not straight forward. This paper examines requirements for trustworthy Edge Intelligence in a concrete application scenario of voice-activated services. We contribute to deepening the understanding of trustworthiness in the emerging Edge Intelligence domain in three ways: firstly, we propose a unified framing for trustworthy Edge Intelligence that jointly considers trustworthiness attributes of AI and the IoT. Secondly, we present research outputs of a tangible case study in voice-activated services that demonstrates interdependencies between three important trustworthiness attributes: privacy, security and fairness. Designing cloud-based electronic health record system with attribute-based encryption

http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s11042-013-1829-6With the development of cloud computing, electronic health record (EHR) system has appeared in the form of patient-centric, in which patients store their personal health records (PHRs) at a remote cloud server and selectively share them with physicians for convenient medical care. Although the newly emerged form has many advantages over traditional client-server model, it inevitably introduces patients' concerns on the privacy of their PHRs due to the fact that cloud servers are very likely to be in a different trusted domain from that of the patients. In this paper, aiming at allowing for efficient storing and sharing PHRs and also eliminating patients' worries about PHR privacy, we design a secure cloud-based EHR system, which guarantees security and privacy of medical data stored in the cloud, relying on cryptographic primitive but not the full trust over cloud servers. Based on our proposed basic EHR system, we provide several extensions including adding searchability, supporting revocation functionality and enabling efficient local decryption, which fills the gap between theoretical proposal and practical application.Peer Reviewe
