    Land grabbing e diritti umani

    No full text
The present article discusses the question of land grabbing with a focus on human rights related issues. In particular the paper argues that the international dimension of this phenomenon requires specific attention to the applicability of international human rights rules and principles. When large acquisitions of agricultural land and water resources occur, involving either State or private land grabbers, negative consequences on local populations are present. The author thus analyses the social impact of land grabbing within the framework of the violation of right to food, right to water and gender discrimination. The positive obligations embedded within international rules on right to food and right to water require territorial States to act with due diligence in order to avoid negative impact of large scale acquisitions of land and water resources. At the same time, the paper argues that the obligations on human rights protection are to be referred to foreign investors and multinational enterprises who are also requested to comply with the same set of international rules. Mechanisms providing for the accountability of those international actors are deemed necessary in order to guarantee the full respect of fundamental human rights affected by land grabbers

In the 1970s, with Arlie Russell Hochschild’s studies, human sciences re-evaluated the emotional dimension. Emotions are now considered a boost to individual action and socializing element. Analyzing the Jean Baudrillard’ work De la seduction (1979), this paper intends to highlight the important contribution the author can give to sociology of emotions. In particular, the aim of the work is to compare Baudrillard's reflection with that of Georg Simmel, a sociologist who first gave a more organic structure to the study of emotions. According to Baudrillard, in our society, subjects undergo the attractiveness and seductive force of objects. Baudrillard describes the domain of objects and the subsequent supremacy of cold emotions. Unlike Simmel, in Baudrillard: a) There isn’t interpersonal relationship; b) The subject is not emotionally involved. In Baudrillard, the man experiences new emotions: dominion, affection, anxiety. After comparing the different approach of the two authors, this paper assumes the birth of the man impatiens, a man who is surrounded by emotional situations and fast excitement. A man who lives a constant challenge in search of the best emotional performance

    Jean Baudrillard: cynism or truth?

Jean Baudrillard was one of the leading intellectuals of the twentieth century. Baudrillard, who died on 6th March 2007 in Paris, conceived an acute observation and, on many occasions, complex, ambiguous and difficult interpretation of contemporary society for him (and us). Reassuming the observations that revolve around the French philosophy’s simulacra concept during the 1960’s1, Baudrillard focused his attention on the relationship which is established between this concept and the vast, symbolic horizon produced by the simulative condition present in society. Considered as being the father of the simulacra concept and according to this author, postmodern society is differentiated from the previous period, the modern age, because of its being organised in compliance with a new, simulation logic and on the continuous interchange of images and signs. Differently, in fact, from modern society, which was structured according to the linear and precise production logic; current society is based on the proliferation of codes, models and signs and the new rules dictated by simulation. Some, important thematic nucleuses and perspectives emerged from his analysis and shall be expanded upon below
