Dalla Lean Production alla Lean Supply Chain: come lo snellimento delle procedure può migliorare gli approvvigionamenti. Il caso Benelli Armi s.p.a.

The purpose of this thesis is to show the applicability of the Lean Thinking to the other activities of the value creation flow not only the production process, in this case the supply chain. The first step of the research is the analysis of continuous improvement as one of Total Quality Management principles and how it is implemented by organizations through Lean Production meth-odology. The second step is the initial study of the characteristics of supply chain and Supply Chain Man-agement in order to understand what aspects can be combined and improved with lean methods, and the final study of Lean Supply Chain. The last phase is the presentation of a case study, a successful implementation of continuous im-provement in the supply function with the establishment of long-term relations with suppliers with the aim to eliminate waste connected with controls on materials supplied

The "COSMOB QUALITAS PRAEMIUM": a quality brand in the Italian furniture sector

In recent years, attention by enterprises towards environmental issues is increased, taking on a strategic role in the activity of the same. The quality environmental standards are higher. The "Green Economy" theme has become a central topic of economic and social debate and many companies use it to improve their competitive performance. In Italy, for example, from 2008 to 2013, already 328,000 companies have invested in green technologies to reduce their environmental impact. Moreover, the consumer often wants to have certainty on the environmental commitment of the company or the environmental performance of the product he is about to buy. In many industries and for many products there is some confidential information to the customer. In the wood-furniture sector, this information is not explicitly defined. The aim of the paper is to analyze a tool to guarantee the consumer for the environmental quality of the product in the wood-furniture sector: the COSMOB QUALITAS PRAEMIUM (CQP), one of the few voluntary eco-labels in Italy, along with the "CQA" brand, the market leader

Application of the lean manufacturing approach in an Italian firm: the case of the IMAB GROUP S.P.A.

The purpose of the paper is to present a study on the successful application of the lean manufacturing model by a firm in Italy. Lean manufacturing or lean production is a production practice that considers the expenditure of resources for any goal other than the creation of the value for the end customer to be wasteful, and thus a target for elimination. Lean manufacturing involves the production of goods using less of everything: less waste, less human effort, less manufacturing space, less investment in tools and less engineering to develop a new product. This model implies a strategic, proactive and global approach that could prove effective in a turbulent and changing environment, such as the one businesses are currently facing. The case of the IMAB GROUP s.p.a. presented herein is a good example of how a firm has managed to implement the lean manufacturing model. The case study furnishes an example of a well-designed lean method application. The IMAB GROUP's excellent results and growth have attracted the attention of industry rivals in Italy and internationally, and the authors highlight how the principles of TQM and lean manufacturing can help a firm to be successful and to maintain that success

Bathing water quality on the coastal belt of the province of Pescara (Italy, central Adriatic sea)

The quality of bathing water is fundamental, not only from an environmental point of view but also due to the economic importance of tourism. This paper examines the water profile in the coastal belt of the province of Pescara (Italy, Central Adriatic Sea) with reference to the microbiological parameters Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci required by Directive 2006/07 of European Commission. The water quality of 15 coastal beaches was surveyed; data were produced from monitoring and controls made available by the Abruzzo Regional Environmental Prevention and Protection Agency (ARTA) and extracted and elaborated for the period of interest (2010–2013). The data highlight critical situations in various parts of the coast; these problems can be attributed to river pollution, mainly due to the malfunctioning of the treatment plants for urban wastewater

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
