Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Life Satisfaction, Courage, and Career Adaptability in a Group of Italian Workers
Today’s work market is both unsteady and unpredictable, and this requires taking urgent and practical actions aiming at creating work opportunities and “better” jobs, promoting a social and solidarity economy, and encouraging the development of moral strength in the workplace. From the Life Design approach perspective, our study examines two variables necessary to cope with the current labor market, courage, and career adaptability, and their role in life satisfaction. Through courage, a full mediational model between life satisfaction and career adaptability was tested in the 525 (291 men and 234 women) employees involved in the present study. Results support the mediational model. Mainly, life satisfaction was predicted indirectly by career adaptability through courage. Such outcome has important implications for practice and highlights the need to support workers in planning their life design by developing career adaptability and workers’ voluntary feeling to act, according to different levels of fear, when facing a threat to the achievement of a significant result or objective, which in turn will positively influence their feelings of life satisfaction
in rapido aumento.
Development and Validation of the Decent Work for Inclusive and Sustainable Future Construction Scale in Italy
Although different assessment instruments have been developed to assess decent work, there is a need for a new instrument that takes into consideration the importance of decent work in achieving sustainable development. This article reports the development and psychometric requisites of the Decent Work for Inclusive and Sustainable Future Construction Scale, that is, a parsimonious measure regarding the perception of decent work for an inclusive and sustainable career construction. Overall, the research involved 1626 Italian adults, 740 men (45.5%) and 886 women (54.5%), aged between 16 and 76 years (M = 26.17; SD = 9.42), that were randomly involved in 1 of the 5 studies. Study 1 developed the scale and found the unidimensional structure of the scale via exploratory factor analysis (EFA). In Study 2, we confirmed the unidimensional structure of the six items based on confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Study 3 examined the concurrent validity of the scale, finding positive correlations with meaningful work and life satisfaction. With Study 4, we provided measurement invariance across gender. Finally, Study 5 tested a model in which the tendency toward a social and equitable socio-economic view in career activities predicted decent work through career curiosity. Results provided strong psychometric support for Decent Work for Inclusive and Sustainable Future Construction Scale as a valid unidimensional instrument that, compared to the already existing scales, proposes the evaluation of decent work from a broad perspective that also looks at inclusion and sustainability

Knowledge and Misconceptions About the Causes of Disabilities and Functioning in Children and Preadolescents: Mixed‐Models Analyses
Background: Accurate knowledge of disabilities is connected to social acceptance and a high chance of initiating and facilitating meaningful social interactions with students with disabilities. The present study investigated the effect of type of disability and school grade level on knowledge of the causes of four disabilities (i.e., hearing, visual, motor and intellectual), misconceptions about the causes of these disabilities and knowledge of the functioning of peers with disabilities. Methods: A sample of 868 Italian students (Mage = 9.92, SD = 2.33; school grade levels 1–8; 436 boys and 432 girls) was interviewed about their knowledge of causes of four disabilities, potential misconceptions and the knowledge of functioning of peers with disabilities. Mixed-effects models were applied with the GAMLj module of the JAMOVI statistical platform. The effects of type of disability and school grade level and their interaction were estimated as fixed effects, and gender was introduced as a control variable. Results: Mixed-model analyses found a main effect of type of disability for knowledge and misconceptions about the causes of disabilities and knowledge of the functioning of peers with disabilities. A main effect for school grade level was also found, showing a progressive growth trend in knowledge of the causes of disabilities and of the functioning of peers with disabilities and a decrease in misconceptions with the increase in school grade levels. Lastly, a significant interaction effect of Type of Disability × School Grade Level was found for knowledge and misconceptions about the causes of disabilities, suggesting that the effect of school grade level varied across the type of disability. Conclusion: Overall, the study found that children and preadolescents have a rudimentary and limited understanding of disabilities, suggesting the necessity for a specific formal education about disabilities during the school years for children and preadolescents
