No full textNella città neoliberista, le molteplici comunità che vi coesistono sono caratterizzate da un insieme complesso di pratiche sociali e mediali che ne modificano continuamente le identità. Si tratta di "spazi liminali a confine tra due spazi dominanti, senza far pienamente parte di nessuno
dei due: non vi sono confini chiari, né pratiche intrecciate con le aspettative sociali, le routine e le norme.
Nella prospettiva della riconfigurazione degli spazi sociali liminali, questa ricerca pone attenzione ai processi di partecipazione ibridi (on site e digitali) realizzati, in corso di realizzazione e ipotizzati dagli attori sociali e istituzionali. Il volume si propone inoltre di indagare le pratiche trasformative delle comunità liminali nelle città metropolitane italiane, con una verifica costante e puntuale delle principali ipotesi di ricerea teoriche avanzate su questi ambiti e servendosi anche dei risultati raccolti nella ricerca sul campo
Liminalities: Social Vulnerabilities Between Participatory Processes and Digital Space in the Neoliberal Era
Full text linkThis article explores the development directions of liminal spaces and cities as a whole within the broader framework of neoliberalism in the Italian metropolitan context. First, neoliberalism was defined and considered in the context of liminal spac-es and urban development, according to the international literature perspective. Then, with specific reference to the Italian case, through semi-structured interviews, it was found that liminal spaces, despite facing marginalisation, translocalisation and defamil-iarisation, acted as antagonists and nuclei of resistance to the encroaching framework of neoliberalism. The article also explores the role of digital ecosystems as tools for empowerment; it also emphasizes the role of liminal spaces in fostering communitari-anism while resisting the change experienced and brought about by the surrounding urban space
La valutazione di impatto sociale dei progetti del volontariato toscano
No full textValutare il volontariato e le sue azioni potrebbe rappresentare un paradosso. Il luogo della solidarietà, della spontaneità e della gratuità non può essere valutato perché è già nella sua esistenza e nel modo di proporre le sue azioni, qualsiasi esse siano, che si esprime la sua positività per la società intera. E' ovvio che una affermazione del genere porterebbe ad una posizione a-valutativa e assiomatica: il volontariato è buono, punto e basta. Per poter superare questa paradossale visione assiomatica, è necessario affrotnare alcuni temi che hanno a che fare con il volontariato e con la cultura della valutazione. Il volume, dopo una riflessione sul ruolo politico del volontariato, analizzala prgettualità come un tratto distintivo dell'azione volontaria, concludendo con una prima introduzione ai ruoli posibili della cultura della valutazione nel volontariat
Knowing through Metaphors: Metaphorical Devices from Science Communication to Science Education
No full textPreparing students for life in an increasingly technical, complex, and global dimension is a relevant aspect of the current educational reform. To this end, international education researchers and practitioners are focusing on improving the persistence and success of students in scientific disciplines. The connections between Science Education and Science Communication, intended as a cultural activity that produces meaning about science, are receiving growing attention and have relevant educational potentialities. Scientific evidence shows that using metaphorical devices can improve learning processes involving scientific concepts (Amin, 2020; Fuchs et al. 2018). This contribution presents and discusses the research project “Knowing through metaphors”. The project’s central research hypothesis is that metaphorical-narrative teaching methodology, compared to traditional Science Education methodologies, is characterized by: a deeper understanding of scientific contents; the development of the ability to recognize implications and to activate new connections and easier access to scientific concepts for students with special educational needs. Such hypotheses were tested by developing experimental lesson plans that systematically use metaphors. The teaching models were implemented in six classes: two classes of the fourth grade (Primary School), two classes of the fifth grade (Primary School); two classes of the first grade (Middle School). For each grade, two parallel classes took part in the project. One acted as an experimental group, and the other as a control group. The emerging results suggest that the narrative-metaphorical methodology supports the long-term acquisition of the scientific contents and is more effective in activating new connections and supporting interaction. Finally, the presentation addresses the critical aspects that emerged from the research project

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
