The Multiple Perception of Innovation: The Case of Micro and Small Enterprises in the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace
This paper explores how innovation is perceived, on the one hand, by the scientific literature and, on the other, by the everyday practice of small and micro enterprises operating in the less developed socioeconomic system of the Greek region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. Our aim is to find out whether there are different perceptions of innovation from two different “worlds”, the theoretical and the practical. For this, we conducted an introductory and qualitative field research on a sample of small and micro enterprises in the region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. We found there is a notable distance in the perception of innovation between the scientific theory and the everyday practice of micro and small enterprises in this less developed region in Greece.

Ep025 about writing children's book, and teaching children about history and folklore in fun and exciting ways.
Charis Cotter is an award-winning children’s writer, actor and storyteller who has worked extensively in schools telling Newfoundland ghost stories and encouraging students to collect local ghost stories from their communities. In 2013 she published The Ghosts of Baccalieu, a book of traditional ghost stories by students from Tricon Elementary in Bay de Verde. Her latest storytelling presentation, The Ghosts of Grates Cove, is an hour of ghost stories from one of the most haunted places in Newfoundland, Conception Bay North. We discuss Charis’ work as an author, how she teaches children facts through games and fun, school programs, and ghost stories

Change Management and Innovation in the “Living Organization”: The Stra.Tech.Man Approach
This paper is part of the broader theme of change management studies with the view to present, in particular, the approach of managing change and innovation in terms of Stra.Tech.Man (Strategy-Technology-Management synthesis). After a brief review of the principal theoretical approaches and the main study directions in the analysis of the problem of change management, this paper examines the critical dimensions in the study of contemporary organizational change perceived in the theoretical perspective of a “living organism” as against the “mechanistic” approach to organizations. It concludes by examining change management in terms of Stra.Tech.Man, expounding and analyzing the five steps of Stra.Tech.Man as a new conceptual approach to managing change
Towards a new approach of innovation in less developed regional business ecosystems
Purpose: The purpose of this article is to propose a new approach to innovation in less developed regional business ecosystems, focusing on the integration of business’ strategy, technology and management dynamics. Design/Methodology/Approach: By performing a literature review, the purpose of this article is to investigate whether the policy on innovation is able to either aim at improving regional innovation conditions or focus more on the specific needs of SMEs in those regions. All these are envisaged and enhanced under the prism of a new approach to regional innovation systems: the Stra.Tec.Man (Strategy, Technology, Management) method. Findings: It seems that innovation may be concentrated on a practical field, with distinct targeting, but it must transplant the organism's intrinsic capability (material or intangible) in the particular circumstances of its external environment, within the specific regional dynamics. Its productivity, its innovativeness and, finally, its ability to survive and expand is always synthetically coordinated by the business (and its specific physiology), the industry (and its special dynamics) and the socio-economic environment (and its particular historical evolution). Practical Implications: To be used by local authorities as a guide tool for regional business development. Originality/value: The main objective of this study is to present the Stra. Tech. Man's multidimensional analytical specter, including the theoretical approach of innovation in order to map the factors that affect business ecosystem growth and development in less developed regions.peer-reviewe
Towards a Restructuration of the Conventional SWOT Analysis
Today, the use of SWOT analysis is increasingly popular for the strategic planning of businesses. However, we argue that a traditional and conventional way of approaching the SWOT analysis contains an interpretative mistargeting which, in the background, derives from the absence of a comprehensive evolutionary methodological framework. Therefore, a conventional SWOT analysis that articulates lists of strengths-weaknesses and opportunities-threats in an absolute and non-correlative way is probably inappropriate to give answers to the needs of strategic planning. In this direction, by also exploring elements from the criticism to the traditional SWOT analysis, we counter-propose a new conceptual framework that perceives SWOT analysis in a correlative and evolutionary way, for all the kinds of socioeconomic organisms
The Current Evolution of International Political Economy: Exploring the New Theoretical Divide between New Globalization and Anti-Globalization
This study explores the evolving theoretical divide within the field of International Political Economy (IPE), focusing on the debate between the advocates of new globalization and critics from the anti-globalization perspective. By conducting an integrative review of the contemporary literature, we explore the foundational theories, core components, and primary theorists of both perspectives, aiming to understand their predictions for future global dynamics. The investigation reveals a polarization in theoretical orientation, reflecting divergent views on the implications of globalization. Through a critical analysis, the paper identifies the liberal international order and the respective contemporary neo-Marxist viewpoints as central to the debate, evaluating their critiques and contributions to understanding the new globalization’s trajectory. We suggest a synthesis of these perspectives, positing that the future of globalization—or “new globalization”—will be influenced by structural changes in global power dynamics, ongoing crises, and technological progress. This is encapsulated in the “evolutionary structural triptych” (EST) approach, which perceives the world economy as an evolutionary result of political, economic, and technological structures, which correspondingly reposition the objectives of stability, growth, and innovation in the new emerging era. In conclusion, we advocate for a balanced approach to globalization, emphasizing the need for policies that promote fairness, sustainability, and cooperation in the changing global environment. This leads to the re-introduction of an appealing concept for globalization’s future: a new, realistic, open, and innovative global liberalism
Tech.
Tech. Tech.
Dante's Beatrice ("dolce amica") and Petrarch's Laura ("dolce nemica") : "charis" and poetry
The article contains an analysis of two most famous female characters in Italian literature: Beatrice and Laura and the role which their charis performed in the oeuvre of Dante and Petrarch. The author also analyses the poets’ understanding of the functions of poetry. Charis was described as beauty, grace, but also internal beauty, or even mercy – as in the case of Beatrice, and an internal image of Laura full of contradictions which affected the relation of the poet to her. The object of the research is not the historical attributes of Beatrice and Laura (we even do not know whether the latter actually existed), but their literary representations existing in different works of both authors. In the interpretative analysis the author refers to "Vita Nuova" and "Divina Commedia" by Dante and "Secretum" and "Rerum vulgarium fragmenta" by Petrarch. The auto-destructive amorous illusion of the younger poet has
been juxtaposed with the evolutionary dimension of affection by Alighieri: both phenomena decisively influenced the development of their artistic work
Implementation of a class-wide intervention to teach behavioral expectations in Head Start
Children and teachers were recruited from two Head Start programs in a Midwestern city to participate in this study focused on behavioral expectations. Using a multiple probe design across four classrooms, the impact of scripted stories, role play, and prompts was examined. Teachers were trained on how to implement effective strategies to teach behavioral expectations to young children. Although a functional relation was not established, teachers implemented the evidence-based strategies with high fidelity which resulted in adherence to behavioral expectations for two child participants.Submission published under a 24 month embargo labeled 'U of I Access', the embargo will last until 2017-12-01The student, Charis Price, accepted the attached license on 2015-11-19 at 16:13.The student, Charis Price, submitted this Dissertation for approval on 2015-11-19 at 16:36.This Dissertation was approved for publication on 2015-11-30 at 11:13.DSpace SAF Submission Ingestion Package generated from Vireo submission #8812 on 2016-03-02 at 14:06:00Made available in DSpace on 2016-03-02T20:23:34Z (GMT).
