A MODELLING METHOD FOR DISCRETE LOW SAMPLMG FREQUENCY TEMPORAL SERIES ON THE EVALUATION OF INTRACYCLIC SWIMMING SPEED FLUCTUATIONS
Profiles of intra-cycle swimming speed fluctuations has been widely used as a high informative parameter on swirn~ningb iomechanics. Methods described in Iiterature can be divitled on: (i) frec swimming and (ii) linked swimming approaches. Linked swimming methods allow high sampling frequencies. NevertheIess, they present the disadvantage of mechanical links between the swimmer and the registration device. In the other hand, free swirmni~lgm ethods (eg. film ar~ti video methods) (nay allow CG stirdres, but tliey are very tirne consuming and low interactive if we consider high sampling frequencies. Interactivity with training, llowever. call be improved. if we can use a modelling method that can respect the phenomena cyclical characteristics. and requiring low sampling frequencies than, for instance, Fourier time series. 111 this paper, a method of discrete intra-cycle velocity fl~~ctuatioan alysis with reduced sampling frequencies is described. The method was used over velocity/time series obtained from intermittent light-trace photographic evaluation, and consists in a transformed polynomial repression to the estili~ationo f the first and last dependent temis of the regression equation (equal initial and final velocities and instantaneous accelerations). Three consecuti\re breaststroke cycles, sampled with a 5Hz frequency, were superimposed in accordance with a cycle period (T). estimated from the time interval between two consecutive absolute minimllnls. Changes in Muscle Morphology, Neuromuscular Capacity and Tendon Function with Training: Implications for Athletic Performance, Patient Rehabilitation and Aging Individuals
Resistance training is well known to induce adaptive changes in the morphology and architecture of human skeletal muscle, while also leading to adaptive changes in nervous system function (Aagaard, 2003, Aagaard et al., 2020). As discussed below, these changes contribute to the marked increase in maximal contractile muscle force and power that can be seen with resistance (strength) training not only in athletes but also in previously untrained persons, including frail and very old (>80 yrs) adults and patients. Perhaps most importantly, the training induced improvements in skeletal muscle size/architecture and neuromuscular function are translated into improved athletic performance in younger adults while correspondingly leading to an enhanced functional capacity during activities of daily living in aging individuals and patients, respectively.</p

Este artigo pretende apresentar as linhas gerais de uma hipótese investigativa sobre o fundamentalismo contemporâneo que parte das reflexões de Friedrich Nietzsche sobre o niilismo com o objetivo de esclarecer como seria possível compreender que a emergência e a consolidação de diferentes modalidades de fundamentalismos religiosos ao longo das últimas décadas são reações tardias originadas do aprofundamento da crise de valores iniciada na segunda metade do século XIX e enfrentada pela civilização ocidental até os dias atuais. A argumentação tomará por base a interpretação de alguns aforismos da obra A Gaia Ciência, explicitando o sentido da expressão “Deus está morto” e mostrando as profundas imbricações entre o niilismo, a vontade de verdade e o fanatismo. Em seguida, procederemos a uma caracterização dos fundamentalismos como diferentes conjuntos de discursos e práticas reativas que tencionam enfrentar o niilismo por meio da recuperação de certas verdades e valores considerados sagrados
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Assessment of shoulder girdle elevation motion using daid smart shirt : A reliability and validity study

All rights reserved.Muscle function around the shoulder girdle can be impaired by pain, which leads to abnormal movement e.g. elevation. Movement faults should be assessed specifically, therefore individual sport rehabilitation strategies can be implemented. Smart garments are efficient for upper body movement assessment. There is a lack of literature stating that smart textile garments are reliable and valid for shoulder gridle elevation. The purpose of the study was to examine reliability and validity of the DAid smart shirt during shoulder girdle elevation. Twenty-one female volunteers aged 24.3. (SD3.3), body mass index 19.3 (SD 0.5) were recruited. The DAid smart shirt and 2D movement video analysis software Quintic Biomechanics v26, UK were the assessment tools utilized. Cronbach alpha coefficient and Interclass Correlation Coefficient were calculated to assess the within-session test-retest reliability. Bland - Altman analysis was applied to determine validity. Results: reliability for the right side measures: Cronbach alpha coefficient α ≥ 0.9, ICC ≥ 0.9. Reliability for the left side measures: Cronbach alpha coefficient α ≥ 0.9, ICC ≥ 0.91. Bland-Altman analysis presents that DAid smart shirt measures are valid during shoulder girdle elevation. Conclusion: smart shirt measures are reliable and valid during shoulder girdle elevation movements.Peer reviewe
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
