Oltre al neo segretario generale Xi Jinping e al premier Li Keqiang, il nuovo gruppo dirigente comprende Zhang Dejiang, Yu Zhengsheng, Liu Yunshan, Wang Qishan e Zhang Gaoli; di essi è stata effettuata un'accurata analisi delle carriere e delle competenze acquisite nella loro precedente esperienza di amministrazione e di governo.The main purpose of this essay is to provide biographical sketches of the seven leaders of the Politburo Standing Committee appointed at the 18th Party Congress in November 2012. The analysis of the political careers of each of them includes an outline of their political ties, family connections and international exposure. The biographical data were collected from different sources, such as Xinhua News Agency, China Vitae database and news reported by influent Chinese newspapers, even those not aligned with the regime. The outcome of this exam could be useful for a better understanding of the strategy which the new administration will put into practice for the next years

No full textThe third World Internet Conference (WIC), hosted by the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) and the Zhejiang provincial people’s government, was held in November 2016 in the river town of Wuzhen. Under a theme of “Innovation-driven Internet development for the benefit of all – building a community of common future in cyberspace”, the conference was aimed at promoting the Chinese Communist Party’s vision of a multilateral approach to Internet governance to an international audience, while at the same time highlighting the importance of the key concept of ‘Internet sovereignty’ (wangluo zhuquan). This article describes the evolution of the WIC from its inauguration in 2014 to the present day, analyzing in depth the idea of cyber-sovereignty advocated by the Chinese leadership, and showing the consequences that the multilateral model entails for the regulation of online content in China

No full textThis essay is a preliminary study of the strategies employed by the Chinese government to tighten its control over the media in the era of the mobile Internet. In the first section, statistical figures show how the development of mobile technologies has played an important role in bridging the digital gap between rural and urban China. This part will be followed by a discussion of a rising academic debate on the spread of the so-called "negative information" within the Chinese new media environment, often focused on the role of mobile messaging applications. As conclusion this essay will offer a brief outline of the new set of guidelines, issued by the government between 2014 and 2015, to manage online public opinion and exert ideological control over the usage of the mobile Internet

Get PDFLa presente ricerca analizza l’impatto degli opinion leader del web (wangluo yijian lingxiu) sulla formazione dell’opinione pubblica in Cina e descrive il modo in cui il loro operato influenza la società contemporanea. Con l’importanza accordata dal governo al settore delle tecnologie dell’informazione e della comunicazione (ICT), e in particolare con l’avvento dei nuovi media e di internet nel 1994, sia le forme che i contenuti della comunicazione di temi politici e sociali nella Repubblica popolare cinese si sono trasformati radicalmente, agevolando in talune circostanze una maggiore partecipazione della popolazione al discorso pubblico nazionale. È in questo mutato contesto tecnologico, e più precisamente nello spazio astratto che intercorre tra i media tradizionali e le masse, che si colloca la figura dell’opinion leader online. Tra gli attori più interessanti sulle piattaforme digitali cinesi, giornalisti, autori, intellettuali e imprenditori che fanno parte di questa categoria sono capaci di influenzare l’opinione pubblica in settori differenti, stimolando spesso il dibattito su temi sensibili di natura politica e sociale (mingan huati). Sfruttando la relativa libertà di cui possono godere sulle piattaforme digitali, essi filtrano e interpretano i messaggi ufficiali dei media e li diffondono verso i milioni di utenti che ne seguono l’attività, condizionando il livello di priorità dei temi sull’agenda politica nazionale. Rispetto ai media tradizionali, hanno inoltre una maggiore efficacia poiché al pubblico la loro azione appare trasparente, priva di secondi fini e di conseguenza maggiormente credibile
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
