Microbiology for general ophthalmologists
Since ocular surface infections are very common in everyday ophthalmic practice, every ophthalmic personnel are familiar with their etiologies and the basic techniques for the diagnosis
Vertebrobasilar dolichoectasia
Dolichoectasia is the increase in the length and diameter of vessels. It is a rare disease effectin g major vessels. For an ophthalmologist awareness of this entity is important to avoid unwanted investigation since this disease present as external ophthalmoplegia
Prime Cordial Labeling on Graphs
A prime cordial labeling of a graph G with vertex set V is a bijection f from V to {1, 2, ..., |V |} such that each edge uv is assigned the label 1 if gcd(f(u), f(v)) = 1 and 0 if gcd(f(u), f(v)) > 1, then the number of edges labeled with 0 and the number of edges labeled with 1 differ by at most 1. In this paper we exhibit some characterization results and new constructions on prime cordial graphs
Generalized soft multi connectedness and compactness
The significance of connectedness and compactness plays a vital role in studying the properties of topological spaces. Numerous authors explored several characterizations of topological spaces using these notions. Researchers had attempted to generalize the concepts of connectedness and compactness in various generalized topological spaces like ideal topological spaces, soft topological spaces, fuzzy topological spaces etc. In the year 2013, Babitha and John studied the concept of connectedness in soft multi topological spaces. Since then the study of these concepts has created a gap in the literature. The uniosity about the generalizations of connectedness and compactness in soft multi topological spaces explored this article
Studies On The Impact Of Heavy Metal Chromium On Protein Metabolism In Sphaerodema Rusticum (Heteroptera: Belastomatidae)
The effects of median lethal concentration of heavy metal chromium (14ppm for 48h) exhibited a significant decline in the contents of protein and amino acid in the haemolymph, fat body, testis, seminal vesicle. The toxicity impact of chromium on S.rusticum was appropriate to be comparatively higher than any other insects, since it was its own tolerance limit beyond 48h (14 ppm) concentration in the aquatic environment. This suggests that the non-target organisms like S.rusticum could be used as an effective indicator to assess the extent of chromium pollution in the aquatic environment
Conjunctival melanosis with retinal vessel tortuosity: An unusual presentation of Sturge–Weber syndrome
Sturge–Weber syndrome (SWS) is a rare neuro-oculocutaneous disorder. The classical signs are unilateral facial port wine stain, leptomeningeal angiomas, and their sequele with ipsilateral glaucoma. Here, we are reporting two cases of SWS associated with conjunctival melanosis and retinal vascular tortuosity. This unusual coincidence maybe representative of a unique entity named phacomatosis pigmentovascularis
Karuthavattu Ointment - An Approach to Pharmaceutical Modification
Repositioned or reformulated products are those products which are reconstituted into a new form investigating their impact on market demands. It has great relevance on drug research and development. As a result of such market needs, pharmaceutical companies are looking for cost-effective products and making it more patent friendly. Developing a new formulation or indication for already known drugs can be considered as an appealing strategy for drug developers. Aim of form change is to increase patient friendly usage of a product without compromising its quality and potency. Lepa kalpana is one among the Bahirparimarjana Chikitsa used in Ayurveda. Karutha vatu is a traditional Gulika yoga explained in Sahasrayoga Gutika prakarana for the treatment of headache. The formulation is intended to apply externally over forehead or bregma with suitable medium for the cure of various types of head ache. The formulation contains Kundurushka (Oleo gum resin of Boswellia Serrata), Kanya rasa (Aloe vera), Kathini (silicate of magnesia), Karigoodha (Karndivenna) and Sahasravedhi (limonite). Making Lepa out of pill is a tedious task for the patients in present scenario due to their busy life schedules. It also creates problem of non-uniform mixing. Hence a form change of this tablet into ointment is necessary for greater patient’s acceptance. The formulation is tested for its analytical values and discussed in this article
"Comparative Hemodynamic Effects of Yoga and Zumba in Middle-Aged Women"
This meticulously designed study evaluated the impact of Zumba dance training and yoga practices on mean arterial blood pressure (MAP) and resting heart rate (RHR) in middle-aged women. A random group design was employed, involving 45 sedentary middle-aged women with a mean age of 35±1 years, a mean weight of 78.1±1.4 kg, and a mean height of 161±1 cm. The participants were selected from Kerala, India. Before the intervention, the selected subjects were assessed for their MAP and RHR. The participants were then divided into three groups of 15 each: one group underwent eight weeks of yoga practice, another group engaged in eight weeks of Zumba dance training, and the third group served as a control group, receiving no training. Following the eight-week intervention period, post-intervention assessments were conducted to measure the MAP and RHR of the subjects. The collected data were statistically analyzed using covariance (ANCOVA) analysis, with the significance level set at 0.05. The findings, based on rigorous analysis, indicated that both yoga practices and Zumba dance training significantly reduced the mean arterial pressure compared to the control group. Moreover, Zumba training had a more pronounced beneficial effect on resting heart rate than both the yoga practice group and the control group, with these differences being significant at the 0.05 level. These findings are significant as they provide evidence for the potential of Zumba and yoga in improving cardiovascular health in middle-aged women
