Soomaa National Park's visitors satisfaction research compared with Soomaa National Park's visitors satisfaction research in 2005
Antud uurimistöö probleemiks on Soomaa Rahvuspargi piirkonna külastajate reisieelsete ootuste ning saadud külastuskogemuse väljaselgitamine ning saadud tulemuste 2005. aasta Soomaa külastajate rahulolu- uuringu pilootprojektiga võrdlemine. Uuring eesmärkideks oli teada saada:
- külastajate eelistused reisimisel;
- Soomaa Rahvuspargi kui reisisihtkoha tugevad ning nõrgad küljed;
- külastajate motivatsioonitegurid;
Küsimustiku koostamisel tugineti Holiday Satisfaction (HolSat) ServQual mudelile.
Antud töö tulemusi võrreldi 2005. aasta Soomaa Rahvuspargi külastajate rahulolu- uuringu pilootprojektiga, et saada teada, missugused muutused on viimase seitsme aastaga toimunud. Töö käigus selgus, et kõige suuremad erinevused võrreldes 2005. aastaga on tekkinud valimi osas, välismaalaste päritolu osas, ööbimiste osakaalu osas, samuti ka külastajate motivatsioonitegurites ja külastuse rahulolus, kus hinnati mõningaid aspekte erinevalt.Soomaa National Park’ s satisfaction research was conducted in 2011- 2012 July to October. Survey’s goal was to find out Soomaa National Park’s profile of visitors, motivational factors and favourites and also destination strengths and weaknesses as a travel destination. Survey’s total was 201 visitors, 56% were Estonians and 44% foreigners (most of them were Germans, Dutch, Finns and Americans). More then half (52%) were in 31- 45. age.
60% of respondents were Soomaa National Park’s first- time visitors. The main motivational factors of visiting Soomaa were beautiful nature environment, active vacation, Soomaa history/ culture, new unknown destination and suitable for a short vacation. The goals of visiting Soomaa were connected to vacation (52% of visitors) or study tour (34% of visitors). Soomaa area’s attractiveness based on ability to spend active vacation in a beautiful nature environment and rest in silent and calm.
Mostly visitors used car (50% of Estonians) to reach to the destination. Among the foreigners the most popular means of transport were also car (43% of foreigners). Those who came by car were Soomaa final destination (73% of visitors), 67% of visitors who used shuttle bus, were planning to travel farther. Soomaa National Park was part of a big road trip mostly to foreigners, of whom 85% went to ohter places in Estonia or in another country. The following most populaar destinations for travellers were Tallinn (46%), Pärnu (48%), Tartu (16%) and Viljandi (14%). Most popular starting ponts of the vacation were also Tallinn (62%), Pärnu (34%) and Viljandi (22%) followed by Germany (14%), Finland (14%) and Tartu (12%) and Rakvere (8%).
41% of respondents were overnight visitors, who mainly used to stay over recreation centre of Junsi, Energia and Vanaõue farm or camping ground and campsites. Visitors mentioned accommodations were mainly valued positively. Visitors valued contentedly also availability of information in Soomaa National Park, although some negative feedback was given to signposts layout and information. The most popular information sources were internet sites (soomaa. com and soomaa. ee) and verbal information from Pärnu Tourist Information Centre and friends, visitors also received information from booklets.
Soomaa National Park’s most important pre- journey expectations and travel experience to visitors was nature environment. Respondents valued highly opportunity to be quiet and uncrowded area. Most important visit factor were also opportunity to do some water sports like canoe trip, which was in a second place in factors what visitors liked the most in Soomaa.
The most unpleasant factors were weather and bad road conditions. Some of respondents dissatisfied catering in flood period and in addition, visitors were missing local food shop.
Available services was regarded mostly canoe trips and hiking. Visitors also mentioned good service in Soomaa National Park and hiking trails in National Park. The biggest difference between Estonians and foreigner’s visitor’s experiences appeared in the local transport options. This aspect was Estonians medium and foreigner’s lowest result.
Recent research results were compared with 2005. completed Soomaa National Park’s visitor’s satisfaction survey pilot project.
Age, gender proportion and foreigners origin were main aspects that respondents different from each other
In 2012. visited Soomaa mostly 31- 45. years old visitors, in 2005 visited Soomaa under 30. years old visitors. Also in recent survey has decreased student’s percentage 12% less then 2005.
In both researches most of respondents were from Tallinn, Viljandi and south Estonia’s biggest towns. Foreigners were mostly from Germany, Finland and United States of America. In 2005. was one of the popular country also Netherlands.
Nature, canoe trips, silent and calm, Karuskose’s bridge, smoke sauna and Russian sauna were the most popular aspects in visitors satisfaction survey that visitors were pleased. 2005. was mentioned also campsites, dugout canoe, hostel Soomaa, watchtower, local people, catering, weather, emptiness, reliable service and a feeling of freedom. 2012. was carried out also hiking trail, fifth season, tour guides, snowshoeing, lack of people, rivers and bogs, local food and Soomaa National Park’s Centre.
Factors, that visitors were not satisfied in both research’s were weather, road conditions, mosquito’s, the need for a local store or eating place, lack of signposts and local transportation and periodically a lot of people.
Visitor’s motivational factors were similar in both researches in the following aspects: beautiful nature environment, active vacation and new unknown destination. These aspects were given the highest score in both researches. Soomaa is attractive to visitors for its outstanding natural beauty, active recreational opportunities, and as a interesting destination, so it’s understandable why these aspects are the most populaar aspects the ohter.
Visitor’s motivational factors showed also some differences. In 2005 Soomaa suitability for the short vacation and Soomaa’s culture got lower scores than in 2012. In both research more than half were first- time visitors, for them main goals of travelling was vacation and often first- time visitors came to Soomaa alone. 2005 and 2012 visitor’s used mostly car to reach Soomaa, followed by bus and rent bus. Estonian’s came after first pleasant trip to Soomaa back with the company’s journey, class excursion or study tour. In both research foreigners were rather first- time visitors.
Share of overnight stays compared to 2005 research has fallen by 17%, which can explain by the low season. 2005. Visitors preferred the most hostel Soomaa to stay over, 2012 visitors preferred Junsi’s recreation centre and Energia’s and Karuskose’s farm
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
koamabayili/VECTRON-author-checklist: VECTRON author checklist
We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used

Author Under Sail The Imagination of Jack London, 1893-1902
In Author Under Sail, Jay Williams offers the first complete literary biography of Jack London as a professional writer engaged in the labor of writing. It examines the authorial imagination in London's work, the use of imagination in both his fiction and nonfiction, and the ways he defined imagination in the creative process in his business dealings with his publishers, editors, and agents. In this first volume of a two-volume biography, Williams traverses the years 1893 to 1902, from London's "Story of a Typhoon" to The People of the Abyss. The Jack London who emerges in the pages of Author Under Sail is a writer whose partnership with publishers, most notably his productive alliance with George Brett of Macmillan, was one of the most formative in American literary history. London pioneered many author models during the heyday of realism and naturalism, blurring the boundaries of these popular genres by focusing on absorption and theatricality and the representation of the seen and unseen. London created an impassioned, sincere, and extremely personal realism unlike that of other American writers of the time. Author Under Sail is a literary tour de force that reveals the full range of London as writer, creative citizen, and entrepreneur at the same time it sheds light on the maverick side of machine-age literature.Intro -- Title Page -- Copyright Page -- Dedication -- Contents -- Acknowledgments -- Introduction -- 1.
