SVIZRA 3: In Foreign Lands, Trees Speak Arabic

USAMA AL SHAHMANI left his native Iraq and is living as an asylum-seeker in Switzerland. Worried about his brother in Baghdad and bewildered by the inscrutable behaviours of the Swiss (such as their strange propensity for walking in the woods), he initially struggles to get to grips with life in this new land. He grapples with feelings of loss and questions of identity, torn between his adopted country and the culture he was forced to abandon. But, little by little, with the help of a couple of kind strangers, he starts to find his feet and discovers a sense of home through the natural world

The World according to Usama Bin Laden

Usama Bin Laden is a dangerous opponent, and so are those who might succeed him should he be killed. Bin Laden’s ideas and goals, however, remain little explored or understood. To grasp them, it is necessary to examine the regional and historical context, his experiences, and the sources of fundamentalist thought upon which he draws

A model-based approach to acoustic reflector localization with a robotic platform

    No full text

Constructing a spatial map of an indoor environment, e.g., a typical office environment with glass surfaces, is a difficult and challenging task. Current state-of-the-art, e.g., camera- and laser-based approaches are unsuitable for detecting transparent surfaces. Hence, the spatial map generated with these approaches are often inaccurate. In this paper, a method that utilizes echolocation with sound in the audible frequency range is proposed to robustly localize the position of an acoustic reflector, e.g., walls, glass surfaces etc., which could be used to construct a spatial map of an indoor environment as the robot moves. The proposed method estimate the acoustic reflector’s position, using only a single microphone and a loudspeaker that are present on many socially assistive robot platforms such as the NAO robot. The experimental results show that the proposed method could robustly detect an acoustic reflector up to a distance of 1.5 m in more than 60% of the trials and works efficiently even under low SNRs. To test the proposed method, a proof-of-concept robotic platform was build to construct a spatial map of an indoor environment.

This dataset is made available with IROS 2020 paper: https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/abstract/document/9341437

code could be found on Github: https://github.com/irtiq7/iROS2020</p&gt

Kata Kunci : Intrusion Detection System, Windows,Snort dan Rules Snort PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF NETWORK INTRUSION PREVENTION SYSTEM USING SNORT IDS AND HONEYD ON WINDOWS Usama YudiLimpraptono Sotyohadi [email protected] ABSTRACT Snort, an open source software that supports all operating systems such as Linux, Windows and Solaris, Snort is an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) detection system that can be developed into an Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) prevention system by combining IDS and a firewall by running snort in inline mode too. some network administrators use this software. snort is very useful for network administrators to improve the network security system because it can be configured as desired. Snort can be configured to save its output to the Snort log database which can be seen at any time which packages are considered an attack. In this thesis the author will configure the snort on the Windows 7 operating system, why choose Windows because in previous studies mostly use the Linux operating system. Here the author configures it as a prevention system that whenever a package is identified as an attack or suspicious it will be rejected. Snort works with its rules that will match the package in the snort's rules database. if it is in the form of an attack the system will send an alert to block it so that the packet is not forwarded to the victim but the snort will record it in its database log. When Snort NIPS is active, attacks like Ping of death, DOS attacks and Port Scanning are prevented Keywords : Intrusion Detection System, Windows,Snort and Rules Snort

Acoustic-Gravity Waves Interacting with a Rectangular Trench

    No full text
A mathematical solution of the two-dimensional linear problem of an acoustic-gravity wave interacting with a rectangular trench, in a compressible ocean, is presented. Expressions for the flow field on both sides of the trench are derived. The dynamic bottom pressure produced by the acoustic-gravity waves on both sides of the trench is measurable, though on the transmission side it decreases with the trench depth. A successful recording of the bottom pressures could assist in the early detection of tsunami
