The present article analyses certain linguistic and artistic aspects that distinguish the religious inscriptions of lydian-phrygian origin. The high level of Greek knowledge shown in these inscriptions has been considered as evidence of the (profound) level of hellenisation of the people living in these regions of Anatolia. According to this author it is possible, however, to propose a different hypothesis that explains this situation in a different manner, taking into account the socio-cultural realities of these rural populations that had maintained a marked attachment to their own traditions throughout the centuries and with religion playing a dominant role. Lozano Arminda. Writing home : memoirs of a working-class student
This collection of personal essays, inspired by Richard Rodriguez's Hunger of Memory, raises questions about the separation that becomes apparent through writing, education, and transitions between class. The author uses her personal experience of writing in, and attending a private university to explore the interactions of class, literacy, and education. The memoirs portray a journeya search for a literal and writerly "home." While some of the memoirs in this collection focus on the author's personal experience as a writer in the academy, others illustrate the possible tension between family and education. Through the explication of emotion and experience, the author suggests that the comfort and familiarity of "home" and identity in writing - and in life - are internal, rather than external
Gritty Girls Undone: The Unraveling of Gender Fluidity in Pat Cadigan\u27s Synners
This project seeks to analyze a significant gap in current scholarship: critique of representations of gender fluidity in cyberpunk author Pat Cadigan\u27s novel Synners (1991). The thesis argues that while Cadigan\u27s novel is an important experiment, it lacks consistency in postulating a working gender-fluid society. Drawing upon the work of Judith Butler, Kaye Mitchell, Karen Cadora, and other important feminist critics, this thesis analyzes Cadigan\u27s attempt at positing a fictional world in which gender is not fixed such that individuals can move back and forth between masculine and feminine positions. In Synners the female characters are represented as assuming dominant masculine roles, while male characters display those traditionally feminine. While this strategy works well in the first part of the novel, Cadigan\u27s finale collapses. I conclude that the novel, while not wholly successful in its attempts to imagine a gender-neutral world, is an important example of feminist cyberpunk\u27s explorations of gendered identity

The bourgeois pink of revolution: Antonio Candido and the mission of intellectual in modern Brazil
In this work situated in the boundary between the thematic scope of the studies about the Brazilian thought and the Sociology of Culture and Intellectuals we investigate the Antonio Candidos political action, both in theoretical and practical perspectives, in the period anteceding his institutional migration from Sociology to Languages and his later consecration as an intellectual. Particularly, we seek to investigate the original and fruitful way by which the author tried to reconcile socialism and democracy, as well as political activism and academic study, in a historical moment when these elements appeared to him as contradictory pairs and in a concrete reality different from the one that served as basis for the development of the European theoretical matrix in which his generation had been formed. We examine texts published by the author in the period and also the bibliography regarding cultural and political initiatives of which he was part at the time for purposes of contextualization. We thus try to demonstrate how the author found solutions that laid the bases for a possible orientation of political action for the fraction of the social class with which he was identified, the small and middle bourgeoisie of intellectuals and artists committed with social equality. This platform, also called \"radicalism of the middle classes\", is linked to the author\'s diagnosis of the obstacles that the Brazilian historical process and its colonial past forefoot to the modernization of the country and to the emancipation of its dominated social groups. And it aims for favoring the political alliance between middle classes and dominated groups through the \"mission\" attributed to intellectuals as a way of making the necessary transformations for the construction of a more modern and egalitarian country in Brazil
The federalism in the Greek Orient
The appereance of federalist tendencies in the Greek world, which reached their peek in the hellenistic period, was not only conscribed to those States of the continental area (the best known being the aquean). Federalist structures were developed in Asia Minor as well by autoctonous, non-greek population such as the carians and lycians. Within this context, the purpose of this article is to analyse the specific federalist formations which went beyond the typical religious objectives and had a relevant political weight. Such is the case of the Lycian Confederation, the only one amongst all minorasiatic federations to have gained State status. Its different stages of development will be analysed focusing on the origins of the lycian federal constitution, only known in certain detail dLiring imperial times. In contradiction to Larsen's research, which (supposes) acknowledges the Greek influence, and in particular that of the Aquean institutions, the author postulates an autonomous evolution of the Lycian Confederation. This can be explained throLigh similar, and previously existant, autoctonous federal political formations whose testimonies can be found nowadays in the geografical surroundings of Lycia
The article focuses on Tanta gente, Mariana (1959) with the aim of analysing the ways in which the author, through the trajectories of the protagonists, contributes to designing a geography of subalternity feminine. Both the space and its inhabitants are mirrors of a hostile context that confines these women inexorably out of place. The eponymous novel and “A Menina Arminda”, in particular, provide a reflection on the deaf revolt of all those women who, escaping the pre-established paths, refuse to conform to the roles of wives, mothers and good housewives.O artigo centra-se na obra Tanta gente, Mariana (1959) com o intuito de analisar as maneiras com que a autora, através das trajetórias das protagonistas, contribui a desenhar uma geografia da subalternidade feminina.
