Full text linkArtykuł omawia wykorzystanie dokumentacji fotograficznej archiwów kościelnych w Słowniku biograficznym księży diecezji sandomierskiej XIX-XX w. Leksykon opublikowany został w latach 2014-2019. Zawiera on 1901 biogramów duchowieństwa sandomierskiego. Ponad połowa z nich uzupełniona została reprodukcjami fotografii, prezentującymi wizerunki poszczególnych kapłanów. Większość z nich odnaleziona została podczas kwerendy w Archiwum Diecezji Sandomierskiej oraz Bibliotece Seminarium Duchownego w Sandomierzu. Autor analizuje poszczególne dokumenty źródłowe, które zawierały obiekty zdjęciowe. Dodatkowo ukazana została metoda wyboru ilustracji oraz perspektywy badawcze. Artykuł może stać się wskazówką dla autorów, którzy będą tworzyć podobne słowniki biograficzne.This article discusses the use of photographic documentation of the church archives of Biographical dictionary of priests from the Diocese of Sandomierz of the 19th-20th centuries. The lexicon was published in years 2014-2019. It contains 1901 biographical notes of the Sandomierz clergy. More than half of them were supplemented with photo reproductions presenting the images of individual priests. Most of them were found during searches in the Archives of the Diocese of Sandomierz and the Library of the Theological Seminary in Sandomierz. The author analyzes individual source documents that contained photographic objects. Additionally, the method of selecting illustrations and research perspectives were presented. The article may become a guide for authors who will create similar biographical dictionaries
Removal of the Crucifixes in 1958 in the Sandomierz poviat
No full textThe paper presents the course of decrucification action in Sandomierz County located in former Kielce voivodeship. The action was planned by communist authorities and legally based on the Circular no. 26 of the Ministry of Education dated 4 August 1958. In order to present the course of the action, the author needed a query of source materials: KP PZPR and Department of Education of PPRN in Sandomierz, security force act and local Bishop Curia. The author shows all stages of decrucification action carried out on a country level. The first one were preparations, consisting of meeting KP PZR executive, trainings for school directors and state institutions. Another stage was to remove crosses from common schools and state institutions, which did not take place without argument. At the end of the decrucification action, summaries and evaluation concluded that removal of crosses had gone without major problems. In order to present a full picture of the described action, the author presented an outline of the introduction process of Circular 26 by Ministry of Education on 4 August 1958 and discussed the school network of Sandomierz County. The paper is another attempt to show the ways communist authorities fought the Catholic church after the II World War

No full textThis source edition presents a document created by the officers of the Security Service at the Voivodeship Police Headquarters in Kielce in October 1961, containing information on the clergy of the Sandomierz diocese. It was kept as part of a case file entitled “Wisła” (surveillance of the diocesan curia and the seminary in Sandomierz). The document is a typical example of “counter-intelligence features of a case.” In addition, it contains a directional operational plan of undertakings”. An analysis of the source allows
us to determine the scale of surveillance to which the priests of the diocese were subjected. The present edition of the document contains a number of footnotes, which explain the more difficult formulations used by security officers, briefly approximate the figures of the priests named in it and elaborate on the state/Church relations in the Polish People’s Republic

With the Left Hand. Polish Theoreticians of Concrete Poetry as Concrete Poets (Józef Bujnowski, Tadeusz Sławek, Piotr Rypson)
Abstract: The present article, inscribing itself into the field of literary anthropology (as projected by Danuta Ulicka) and attempting at a neo-avant-guard re-interpretation of Polish post-war poetry (inspired chiefly by H. Foster's propositions), is dedicated to the oeuvre of three notable scholars of concrete poetry in Poland. Even though the theoretical propositions put forth by Józef Bujnowski (especially those presented in 1970s), Tadeusz Sławek (1980s) and Piotr Rypson (1990s) would determine the directions of the reception of concrete poetry over three subsequent decades, their intermedial, visual and auditory poetic experiments either remain unknown or have been forgotten. Bringing them back to the forefront of the academic attention and subjecting them to an analysis, the author of this article argues that taking such text into account in the diachronic study of the Polish literary culture does not only enrich the existing narratives oscillating around Polish concrete poetry and allow their reinterpretation, but also makes visible a number of research problems, of which the most important are related to the role played by authors who simultaneously are involved in literary scholarship and in writing, especially in the context of the neo-avant-guard shift of the borders between institutionalized scholarship and art.Keywords: concrete poetry, essayist literary scholarship, limits of art, limits of scholarship

Piotr Skarga – “Swordsmen of the Counter-Reformation” towards other confessions
No full textPiotr Skarga was a Jesuit theologian, preacher, hagiographer, Catholic polemicist, one of the greatest prose writers of the Polish Renaissance, the author of, among others, famous the Kazania sejmowe. Thanks to the historical and literary legend created during the partitions of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and surviving to modern times, he became a symbol of a great priest – a patriot. There is a black legend of Piotr Skarga, in which he appears as a huge nietolerant and almost eager for blood of dissidents. There is no lack of objective studies on the other hand, along with a critical analysis of the works of Piotr Skarga
