    Bu çalışmada, Ege Bölgesinde yetiştirilen Rio Grande, Rio Fuego, Interperl, Brixy, Alta ve Shasta domates çeşitlerinin, fide gelişimine farklı tuz konsantrasyonlarının etkisi araştırılmıştır. Bu amaçla fideler, kontrol dahil olmak üzere 2, 4, 8, ve 10 mS/cm tuz konsantrasyonuna sahip sulama suyuyla 2 ay boyunca sulanmıştır. Fide döneminin 3 farklı aşamasında örnekler alınarak tuzluluğun gelişime etkisi saptanmıştır.Tuz konsantrasyonunun artmasıyla fide boyu, gövde çapı, gövde kuru ve yaş ağırlığı ile kök yaş ve kuru ağırlıklarında önemli düşüşler olduğu saptanmıştır. Fakat kök boyunda ve yaprak sayılarında önemli değişimler olmamıştır

    Fruits play an essential role in the human diet, being the major source of dietary nutrients and preventing many chronic diseases. Nowadays, consuming prepared food is commonly preferred by consumers since they are time saving and more convenient. Within this scope, the fresh-cut market, mainly including fruits and vegetables, has broadened substantially in recent years. Fruits, which have a suitable environment for the growth of microorganisms, are also highly perishable products with a short shelf life because of mechanical operations. Therefore, serving the product as fresh-cut produce increases concern about the safety of these products, which has become another issue that the suppliers must consider. Recently, consumers have become more conscious of food safety since the transmission of pathogens can cause foodborne diseases. Therefore, information on fresh-cut fruits (FCFs) and recent outbreaks caused by these products are reported in this review. Data collected for each outbreak included the implicated food, year, pathogen, location, and number of cases. According to data, five outbreaks caused by FCFs were reported in recent years, resulting in 466 illnesses, 167 hospitalizations and 1 death. Mainly Salmonella spp. was found a common threat for the minimally produced fruits in these outbreaks. Preventive approaches were also included in the review to maintain the safety of FCFs

    Bu çalışma tüplü ve tüpsüz üretilen biber fidelerinde farklı fide dikim boylarının erkencilik, verim ve meyve kalitesi üzerine etkilerini belirlemek amacıyla yürütülmüştür. Çalışmada üç farklı biber çeşidi (dolmalık, çarliston , yağlık) ve iki farklı fide yetiştirme şekli (tüplü-tüpsüz) uygulanmıştır. Dolmalık biber çeşidinde tüpte yetiştirilen bitkilerde erkenci ve toplam verim değerleri tüpsüz yetiştirilenlere oranla daha yüksek bulunmuştur. En yüksek erkenci ve toplam verim değeri 15 cm boyda dikilen bitkilerden elde edilmiştir. Meyve kalite kriterleri incelendiğinde uygulamaların etkisi farklılık göstermektedir. Çarliston biber çeşidinde, tüpsüz yetiştirilen bitkilerde erkenci ve toplam verim değerleri, tüplü olarak yetiştirilen bitkilere oranla daha yüksek bulunmuştur. Tüpsüz yetiştirilen ve 15 cm boyda iken şaşırtılan bitkilerde erkenci ve toplam verim miktarı daha yüksek bulunmuştur. Meyve kalite kriterleri uygulamalara göre değişmektedir. Yağlık biber çeşidinde, tüpsüz olarak yetiştirilen ve 25 cm boyda şaşırtılan bitkilerde erkenci ve toplam verim değerleri en yüksek bulunmuştur

    This paper proposes a method to determine the optimal parameters for the drying of soybean using a kinematic vibration dryer. Among the main parameters of the investigated vibroconveyor are heat and mass transfer, physical and mechanical. The paper presents a mathematical model of the dependence of parameters of the soybean drying process of soybean built based on experimental data obtained by organizing an effective experiment plan with a sufficiently large number of factor levels. To determine the rational parameters for drying soybean, it is important to build the most accurate and adequate mathematical model, which will determine the most accurate values of the required parameters. For this purpose, it is recommended to conduct an experiment with as many levels of factors as possible. The article proposes an experiment established on a dedicated balanced orthogonal plan, which is optimal according to the D-efficiency criterion. Based on the experimental data, an adequate mathematical model of the dependence of the drying characteristics of soybean (moisture of the processed material (%), temperature inside the product layer (°C) on the parameters - vibration amplitude (mm), distance from the conveyor surface (mm), radiation power (Wt), weight (g·min-1). Following the analysis of the constructed mathematical model, optimal parameters of the developed vibroconveyor infrared dryer were substantiated. The main characteristics of the vibroconveryor mechanism of interoperational transportation of bulk products in the working area were also determined, and a technical and economic analysis of the developed oscillatory system was conducted. © 2022 Vira Malkina et al., published by Sciendo

    Photobioreactors as potential tools for environmentally friendly and sustainable buildings

    Global warming is a critical risk for the balance of nature, and its effects are increasing due to gases like CO2. One approach for CO2 capture is bringing together microalgae and buildings in esthetic bio-facade systems for obtaining environmentally friendly benefits. The aim of this study is to investigate the microalgae photobioreactors (PBR) as a potential bio-facade unit. Bio-facade concept focused on the multiple uses of water and nutrients, as well as CO2 capture, to highlight the sustainability and practicality. Chlorella vulgaris is selected as a model microalga due to its low doubling time and high biomass productivity. Experiments covered the dilutions of microalga medium (10%, 20%, 40%, 80%), recycling the cell separated medium and addition of CO2-enriched air (5% and 10%) focusing on their effects on various key factors like biomass and photosynthetic activity. PBR integrated laboratory scale house unit has also been constructed lastly. According to the preliminary results, up to 80% dilution, up to three cycles of medium and 5% CO2-enriched environment provided the high level of activity for bio-facade system. Interior air quality, changing of temperature and amounts of CO2-O-2 with increasing of the biomass were investigated in PBR integrated laboratory scale house unit which depended on the outcomes of preliminary experiments (20% dilution and 5% CO2-enriched air). The results of unit showed the positive effects of the microalga integration with regards to its capability as a biofilter and a biocurtain for the sustainability. [GRAPHICS]

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
