Active Fault Tolerant Control of a Wind Farm System
In order to enhance the 'sustainability’ of offshore wind farms, thus skipping unplanned maintenance operations and costs, that can be important for offshore systems, the earlier management of faults represents the key point. Therefore, this work studies the development of an adaptive sustainable control scheme with application to a wind farm benchmark consisting of nine wind turbine systems. They are described via their nonlinear models, as well as the wind and wake effects among the wind turbines of the wind park. The fault tolerant control strategy uses the recursive estimation of the faults provided by nonlinear estimators designed via a nonlinear differential algebraic tool. This aspect of the study, together with the more straightforward solution based on a data-driven scheme, is the key issue when on-line applications are proposed for a viable implementation of the proposed solutions
Outlook on product design and consumer characteristics in purchasing attitude to smart products in sportswear

In the process of adopting products, the importance of design and aesthetics for the consumer and the role of purchasing attitudes in
such products should be examined. In this study, it has been investigated how consumer purchasing attitudes, which are evaluated in
terms of emotional, cognitive, and behavioral aspects, are affected by the importance of product aesthetics for smart sportswear
products. At the same time, it has been understood that the importance of product design and purchasing attitudes may be different
for people with different demographic characteristics. The data obtained from 779 people were classified and arranged by the analysis
and used. It has been observed that the importance of product aesthetics positively affects emotional, cognitive, and behavioral
responses to purchasing smart wearable products in the sportswear category. While significant effects were found for education,
marital status, child ownership, and income among demographic variables, no significant results were found for age, gender, car
ownership, and employment status. When purchasing smart products in sportswear, when the importance of product aesthetics and
the marital status of cognitive and behavioral reactions differ in people with different education levels, it has been concluded that the
emotional and behavioral reactions of the behavioral reactions according to the status of having a child, and the importance of product
aesthetics and behavioral reactions among those belonging to different income groups
Why did it work this time: a comparative analysis of transformation of Turkish economy after 2002
Turkey had several unsuccessful stabilization efforts during 1980s and 1990s. Thanks to policies that were put into practice after the 2001 crisis, which constitutes a turning point for Turkish economy, fiscal discipline was restored, single digit inflation was reached, and yet growth rate was doubled compared to the previous decade average. As a result investment climate improved and the economy benefited from substantial amount of foreign direct investment and other long-term capital inflows. However these developments had some adverse side effects as well. Real appreciation of domestic currency, deterioration of trade balance, and increasing private indebtedness generated vulnerability for sudden stops. Beside, increasing global integration and very rapid shift in the economic circumstances caused difficulties for traditional sectors. This paper analyzes the Turkish experience after 2001 and identifies underlying dynamics of the restructuring program, while denoting the costs of this transition. Turkish case provides evidence in favor of disinflation programs combined with sound fiscal policies in spite of some adverse effects in the short run.Turkish Economy, Crisis, Stabilization Policy, Macroeconomic Performance
Investigating consumer evaluations about the purchasing of innovative textiles in terms of product interest and benefits
To obtain a sustainable competitive advantage, companies in the national and global markets should direct their activities to new goods and services that create differences. Economic units with high technology and capital accumulation have the opportunity to work more efficiently and create innovations in the market. Nowadays, the main economic resource beyond capital, labor, or natural resources is knowledge. So far, innovation continuously appears in the markets with technological developments in information and communication-intensive sectors such as informatics. \"Innovation\", which has become the most important competitive tool in today\"s economy, is also referred to as innovation. According to the most widely accepted approach of Schmookler (1966), \"An enterprise makes a technical change if it develops a new product or service for itself or uses a new method or input for itself. The enterprise that makes a certain technical change first is the one that makes the innovation, and this action that it does is innovation.\" (Oguzturk, 2003).According to Evans et al. (2010), attitude is a mental state that creates behaviors towards a stimulus. This stimulus can be any product, person, service, brand, idea, physical object, advertisement, event, or symbol as an attitude object. According to the three-component model of attitude that was first added to the literature by Rosenberg and Hovland (1960), attitudes are defined as generalizable structures that consist of beliefs, feelings and behavioral tendencies towards an attitude object. In this model, thoughts and beliefs about the attitude object constitute the cognitive element; emotion and mood represent the affective (or sensory) component, and action intentions represent the behavioral component. Eagly and Chaiken (1993) stated in their studies that it is necessary to understand the underlying cognitive, affective and behavioral processes in order to predict how much the attitude will change. In the process of shaping the evaluations that can occur in different forms, the direct and indirect effects of product interest and benefits on consumer attitude (sensory, cognitive, behavioral evaluations) will be examined in this research
Fault diagnosis of a wind turbine simulated model via neural networks
The fault diagnosis of wind turbine systems has been proven to be a challenging task and motivates the research activities carried out through this work. Therefore, this paper deals with the fault diagnosis of wind turbines, and it proposes viable solutions to the problem of earlier fault detection and isolation. The design of the fault indicator involves a data-driven approach, as it represents an effective tool for coping with a poor analytical knowledge of the system dynamics, together with noise and disturbances. In particular, the data-driven proposed solution relies on neural networks that are used to describe the strongly nonlinear relationships between measurement and faults. The chosen network architecture belongs to the nonlinear autoregressive with exogenous input topology, as it can represent a dynamic evolution of the system along time. The developed fault diagnosis scheme is tested by means of a high-fidelity benchmark model, that simulates the normal and the faulty behaviour of a wind turbine. The achieved performances are compared with those of other control strategies, coming from the related literature. Moreover, a Monte Carlo analysis validates the robustness of the proposed solutions against the typical parameter uncertainties and disturbances
Hardware-In-The-Loop Assessment of a Fault Tolerant Fuzzy Control Scheme for an Offshore Wind Farm Simulator
To enhance both the safety and the efficiency of offshore wind park systems, faults must be accommodated in their earlier occurrence, in order to avoid costly unplanned maintenance. Therefore, this paper aims at implementing a fault tolerant control strategy by means of a data-driven approach relying on fuzzy logic. In particular, fuzzy modelling is considered here as it enables to approximate unknown nonlinear relations, while managing uncertain measurements and disturbance. On the other hand, the model of the fuzzy controller is directly estimated from the input-output signals acquired from the wind farm system, with fault tolerant capabilities. In general, the use of purely nonlinear relations and analytic methods would require more complex design tools. The design is therefore enhanced by the use of fuzzy model prototypes obtained via a data-driven approach, thus representing the key point if real- time solutions have to implement the proposed fault tolerant control strategy. Finally, a high- fidelity simulator relying on a hardware-in-the-loop tool is exploited to verify and validate the reliability and robustness characteristics of the developed methodology also for on-line and more realistic implementations
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
The indirect effects of servant leadership behavior on organizational citizenship behavior and job performance
The relationship between leader and followers plays a vital role, particularly in educational institutions where a keen understanding of human character and high level of social interaction ought to be facilitated. For this reason, in stark contrast to contemporary leaders who see people only as units of production or expendable resources in a profit and loss statement, servant leadership focuses on meeting the needs of followers, making them reach their maximum potential and so perform optimally in order to achieveorganizational goals and objectives. This study examines the effects of servant leadership behaviors of private college principals on teachers’ organizational citizenship behavior and job performance. Using 300 respondents from the private education institutes in Turkey, servant leadership behavior is examined for its indirect effects on organizational citizenship behavior and job performance by its impact on organizational justice. Organizational justice acts as a mediator between the variables in question. All the resultsare in support of the studied mediation effects. Implications of the findings and suggestions for future research are discussed
Literature Review on Selection Criteria of Store Location Based on Performance Measures
This paper presents the results of a literature review for understanding the selection criteria of store location in the retail context. The review provides overall insight into prior studies that specifically emphasize on factors influencing store performance. Store performance has been evaluated by using various measures such as store sales, market share, retail patronage, store traffic, store profits and so forth in different studies. The intention of the review is to (1) classify the store location-selection criteria, and (2) provide researchers with a theoretical model on which future research on store performance may be oriented.
