Datenanalyse in Batterieproduktionssystemen
Energy storage technologies, especially batteries, play a fundamental role in transforming the mobility and energy sectors towards a higher share of renewable energy sources. However, costly materials, insufficient product quality control, energy-intensive processes, and a lack of understanding of underlying interrelations within the battery production chain lead to high costs and high environmental impacts in manufacturing these devices. Therefore, an approach to identify and quantify these underlying interrelations would increase the understanding of battery production. This derived knowledge would then help control and operate production towards lower costs and environmental impacts. Applying data analytics approaches in manufacturing is very promising in addressing these challenges. Data analytics approaches of low maturity level allow identifying and quantifying new interrelations from acquired data. Data analytics approaches on higher maturity levels allow even the derivation of improvements based on their prediction. Data analytics approaches further benefit from advancements in digitalization, the overall increase in computational power and a higher degree of data availability due to more interconnected devices (internet of things). However, conducted literature study shows that current data analytics approaches in battery production systems focus on optimizing specific manufacturing processes, neglecting the entire process chain. Furthermore, these approaches are of a low maturity level and provide only single-use applications and not continuously deployed solutions usable in production operation and planning. Approaches of data analytics in other production systems, rather than battery production, have the needed data analytics maturity and show continuously deployed solutions in production operation and planning, but their applicability to battery production is insufficient. Against this background, a data analytics concept for battery production systems was developed regarding product quality and energy efficiency that continuously deploys a data analytics solution in production planning and operation. This concept integrates identification and acquisition of relevant data sources in battery production and the consolidation and storage of acquired data. Furthermore, the data analytics approach and its deployment provide a high level of data analytics maturity. The developed concept has been prototypically implemented in the facilities of the Battery LabFactory Braunschweig and has been applied to three use cases. The first use case addresses production planning concerning product quality. It shows possible product performances that can be achieved using the same equipment and processes within the established process space and without additional upgrades. The second use case demonstrates the application of quality gates in production operation. It predicts the final product properties of the battery cell before it is produced based on intermediate product structures. This prediction enables the assessment of intermediate product quality concerning the quality of the battery cell to support an early stage defect detection. The third use case addresses the planning of processes by identifying and quantifying energy efficiency levers, thus enabling the operation with reduced energy demand.Energiespeichertechnologien, insbesondere die Batterien, spielen eine wichtige Rolle bei der Verkehrswende und der Energiewende Richtung erneuerbarer Energien. Dies ist auf teure Materialien, unzureichende Produktqualitätskontrolle, energieintensive Prozesse und ein mangelndes Verständnis der zugrunde liegenden Zusammenhänge innerhalb der Prozesskette zurückzuführen. Ein Ansatz, der diese Zusammenhänge identifiziert und quantifiziert, würde das Verständnis für die Batterieproduktion verbessern. Mit dem neu gewonnenen Verständnis könnte der Betrieb und die Steuerung der Batterieproduktion verbessert werden und dazu beitragen die Produktionskosten und die Umweltauswirkungen zu senken. Die Anwendung von Ansätzen der Datenanalyse in der Fertigung ist vielversprechend, um diese Herausforderungen zu bewältigen. Datenanalyseansätze mit einem niedrigen Reifegrad können Zusammenhänge innerhalb der Daten identifizieren und quantifizieren. Datenanalyseansätze mit einem höheren Reifegrad erlauben sogar die Ableitung von Verbesserungen auf der Grundlage ihrer Vorhersagen. Diese Ansätze profitieren von der fortschreitenden Digitalisierung, der Steigerung der Rechenleistung und der höheren Verfügbarkeit der Daten, durch mehr vernetzte Geräte (Internet der Dinge). Die durchgeführte Literaturstudie zeigt, dass Ansätze der Datenanalyse in der Batterieproduktion sich meist nur mit Verbesserungen ausgewählter Prozesse und nicht mit der gesamten Prozesskette beschäftigen. Darüber hinaus fehlt es ihnen an dem notwendigen Reifegrad der Datenanalyse und einer kontinuierlich einsetzbaren Lösung für den Produktionsbetrieb und -planung. Ansätze der Datenanalyse in anderen Produktionssystemen haben zwar den nötigen Reifegrad der Datenanalyse und haben durchgängig einsetzbare Lösungen im Produktionsbetrieb und in der Planung, zeigen jedoch eine geringe Anwendbarkeit auf die Batterieproduktion. Darauf aufbauend wurde ein Datenanalysekonzept für Batterieproduktion entwickelt welches die Produktqualität und Energieeffizienz adressiert und seinen Lösungsansatz kontinuierlich im Produktionsbetrieb und -planung einsetzt. Das Konzept integriert die Identifikation und Erfassung relevanter Datenquellen in der Batterieproduktion sowie die Konsolidierung und Speicherung der Daten. Weiterhin bietet das Konzept den Einsatz der Datenanalyse auf einem hohen Reifegrad an. Das entwickelte Konzept wurde prototypisch in der Battery LabFactory Braunschweig implementiert und beispielhaft auf drei Anwendungsfälle angewendet. Der erste Anwendungsfall adressiert die Produktionsplanung hinsichtlich der Produktperformance und zeigt die mögliche Produktperformance auf, die mit gleichen Anlagen und Prozessen innerhalb des etablierten Prozessraums ohne zusätzliche Aufrüstung erreichbar ist. Der zweite Anwendungsfall zeigt die Anwendung von Quality Gates im Produktionsbetrieb. Die finalen Produkteigenschaften der Batteriezelle werden basierend auf den Strukturen der Zwischenprodukte prädiziert bevor diese produziert wurde. So wird eine Bewertung der Qualität der Zwischenprodukte hinsichtlich der finalen Qualität der Batteriezelle zur Unterstützung einer frühzeitigen Fehlererkennung ermöglicht. Der dritte Anwendungsfall befasst sich mit der Planung von Prozessen durch die Identifizierung und Quantifizierung von Energieeffizienzhebeln, die einen Prozessbetrieb mit reduziertem Energiebedarf ermöglichen
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
