    No full text

Lying and the related feeling of shame are typically associated with the color red. However, there is a broader chromatic range associated with lies, which encompasses white, black and various colors in between, depending on the gravity of lying. Due to complex interactions of social and historical factors, this scale manifests itself differently from culture to culture and, therefore, from language to language

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Questioni epicuree

The essays in this volume are an important contribution to the study of Epicureanism: they are placed in a time of rebirth of interest in this philosophy. The studies are organized into several sections following the partition of Epicurus’s philosophy (canonic, physics and ethics) and including also essays on the textual tradition, as well as on the textual forms of text of the Epicurean works. The authors are specialists of Epicureanism: the international component and the presence of young scholars are the main feature of the volume, which is the result of a network of exchanges and debates inspired by the most genuine Epicurean philia. The peculiar characteristic of the collected contributions is the interdisciplinary nature of the contents and the methodologies, according to the firm belief that only an approach of this kind – which closely links philosophy and papyrology, literature and philology – may be crucial for the safe understanding of the Epicurean thought
