Underground pedestrian network for urban commercial development in Tsim Sha Tsui of Hong Kong
Tsim Sha Tsui is one of the most important CBD areas in Hong Kong. From early 2000s, a new underground pedestrian network was being developed to extend the original Tsim Sha Tsui Metro Station to access a broader scope. This paper introduces statistical analyzes on land use, pedestrian flows, pedestrian trajectories as well as qualitative investigation on planning strategies, urban renewal and real estate development to answer the following research questions: How people use this underground space network as a second level of regional pedestrian system parallel to the surface street network? How this underground pedestrian system distributes people to improve accessibility of commercial land use? How newly-developed large-scale shopping malls directly connected to the underground space distribute pedestrians to the community more efficiently as well as benefit to their own profits? Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Example datasets used to demonstrate the R package tidyproteomics.
The analysis presented in this document is use to demo the code for the R package tidyproteomics. The underlying data is based on previously published and publicly available data [1]. Raw data was analyzed using ProteomeDiscoverer 2.5, FragPipe 19.1, and MaxQuant 1.6.10.43 with basic settings for mass tolerance and PTMs. The exported results are provided here.
Tidyproteomics is a suite of tools designed to facilitate the analysis of proteomics data with a focus on reproducibility and transparency. The project aims to provide a user-friendly platform for proteomics data analysis. To achieve this, tidyproteomics has been developed using open-source software and is available for anyone interested in proteomics analysis. "Closing the R&D Gap, Evaluating the Sources of R&D Spending"
Both spending and tax policies have been implemented in the United States with the goal of stimulating private sector research and development (R&D). Karier questions whether current R&D policy, especially the research and experimentation tax credit, can contribute to closing the gap between nondefense expenditures on R&D in the United States and such expenditures in other countries, such as Japan and Germany. He also explores possible changes to our current R&D policy to make it more effective.
Volatility Dynamics in Foreign Exchange Rates: Further Evidence from the Malaysian Ringgit and Singapore Dollar
Singapore dollar are analyzed in this paper. Our approach can simultaneously capture the empirical regularities of persistent and asymmetric effects in volatility and timevarying correlations of financial time series. Consistent with the results of Tse and Tsui (1997), there is only some weak support for asymmetric volatility in the case of the Malaysian ringgit when the two currencies are measured against the US dollar. However, there is strong evidence that depreciation shocks have a greater impact on future volatility levels compared with appreciation shocks of the same magnitude when both currencies measured against the yen. Moreover, evidence of time-varying correlation is highly significant when both currencies are measured against the yen. Regardless of the choice of the numeraire currency and the volatility models, shocks to exchange rate volatility are found to be significantly persistent.Constant correlations; Exchange rate volatility; Fractional integration; Long memory; Bivariate asymmetric GARCH; Varying correlations
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Distributional properties for the generalized p-value for the Behrens-Fisher problem
The generalized p-value method introduced by Tsui and Weerahandi [1989. Generalized p-values in significance testing of hypotheses in the presence of nuisance parameters. J. Amer. Statist. Assoc. 84 (406), 602-607] has been successfully used to provide small sample solutions for many hypothesis testing problems when nuisance parameters are present. Simulation studies show that generalized p-values have similar distributional properties as ordinary p-values. It is desirable to study theoretical properties of generalized p-values.
