Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Karakterisasi Gasifikasi Batubara Tipe Updraft Dengan Variasi Equivalence Ratio
Gasifikasi adalah proses perubahan fase bahan bakar yaitu dari bahan
bakar padat (batubara) menjadi gas flammable ( CO, CH4 , H2) secara termokimia.
Faktor utama yang mempengaruhi besarnya komposisi flammable adalah
equivalence ratio (ER) . Semakin besar ER maka semakin besar pula oksigen yang
masuk ke gasifier sehingga mempengaruhi besarnya panas yang dilepaskan dari
zona partial oxidation ke zona lainnya. Karena sensitifitas proses gasifikasi
terhadap ER, maka perlu dilakukan penelitian untuk mengetahui ER yang tepat
pada saat proses gasifikasi sehingga didapatkan karakteristik kinerja proses
gasifikasi yang optimal.
Pada penelitian ini digunakan gasifikasi tipe updraft dengan bahan
feeding batubara sub-bituminous, secara eksperimental. Penelitian dilakukan di
perusahaan Gending di Sidoarjo Jawa Timur. Penelitian dilakukan dengan
melakukan 5 (lima) variasi ER yaitu 0.2; 0.27; 0.31; 0.36; 0.4. Pengaturan variasi
ER dilakukan dengan merubah kecepatan putar blower melalui dimmer sehingga
ṁ udara yang masuk akan bervariasi yaitu 157.71; 212.9; 244.5; 283.9; 315.4
kg/jam. Setiap variasi dilakukan feeding batubara sebesar 80 kg batubara dengan
waktu operasi selama 60 menit. Pemasangan thermocouple dilakukan untuk
mengidentifikasi zona partial oxidation, reduction, pyrolysis dan driying. Untuk
mengetahui kuantitas syngas digunakan pitot static tube sedangkan untuk
mengetahui kualitas dari syngas maka dilakukan pengujian dengan orsat
apparatus dan H2S analyzer.
Dari hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan didapat hasil sebagai berikut
Temperatur zona partial oxidation berkisar antara 724-865 oC. Temperatur zona
pyrolisis pada kisaran 219-496 ºC. Temperatur zona pengeringan (drying)
menunjukkan kisaran temperatur 129-251ºC.Suhu burner berada di kisaran 632-
704 0C. Kuantitas berupa debit produk syngas terus meningkat saat ER semakin
besar dan memiliki rentang 207,096 m3/jam- 358,701 m3/jam. Kualitas syngas
terbaik dimiliki ER 0,31 dengan kandungan flammable gas 21,6 % CO 2,0 %
CH4, 11,3 % H2, H2S 40 ppm dengan HHV sebesar 4963,940 kJ/m3 dengan
efisiensi gasifikasi 79,821% dan memiliki kuantitas syngas sebesar 292,878
m3/jam .

Gasification is a process that changes the fuel from solid fuels phase (coal) into
flammable gases (CO, CH4, H2) thermochemically. The main factors that affect the
amount of flammable composition is equivalence ratio (ER). The greater ER means the
greater oxygen supplied into the gasifier that affect the amount of heat released from
partial oxidation zone to another zone. Because of the sensitivity of the gasification
process to the ER, it is necessary to investigate the exact ER during the gasification
process to obtain the characteristics of the optimal performance of the gasification
process.
In this research use updraft gasification with sub-bituminous coal as fuel,
experimentally. The study was conducted at the company Gending in Sidoarjo, East Java.
The research was conducted by five (5) ER variation are 0.2; 0:27; 0:31; 0:36; 0.4. ER
variation arrangement by changing the rotational speed blower via a dimmer so that the ṁ
(mass flow rate) will vary at 157.71; 212.9; 244.5; 283.9; and 315.4 kg/h. Each variation
carried by 80 kg of coal feeding and operation time 60 minutes. Installation of
thermocouple is used to to identify zones partial oxidation, reduction, pyrolysis and
driying. To determine the quantity of syngas used pitot static tube, to know the quality of
the syngas then tested with orsat apparatus and H2S analyzer.
The results of the research that has been done is the partial oxidation zone
temperatures ranging from 724-865 °C. Pyrolisis zone temperature in the range of 219-
496 °C. Drying zone shows the temperature range 129-251ºC. Burner temperature in the
range of 632-704 0C. Quantities form syngas increase while the ER getting bigger and has
a range of 207.096 m3/hour - 358.701m3/h. Best quality syngas owned ER 0.31 with
flammable gas content 21.6% CO, 2.0% CH4, 11.3% H2, H2S 40 ppm with HHV of
4963.940 kJ/m3 with an efficiency gasification 79.821% and syngas has quantity 292.878

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
