During the period from 8th Century to early decades of the 14th Century, Dai Viet was in the course of prosperous development with reigns of Tran Thai Tong (ruled from 1226-1258), Tran Thanh Tong (1258-1278), Tran Nhan Tong (1278-1293), Tran Anh Tong (1293-1314), Tran Minh Tong (1914-1329), and Trang Hien Ton (1329-1341). We can say that this is time of prosperity and advance of Tran Dynasty. The Tran Kings’ piety upon Buddhism had a great impact on thought and government policies, especially the spirit of equality and humanity. Kings of Tran express a great care on life of the people, try to relieve their toils, reduce their duties, help the poor, and enhance the social security.116 From Tran Du Tong onwards, all was not as before anymore. Research on social security by Buddhism in Tran dynasty can be presented in many aspects, but this article just focuses on clarifying the social security through Buddhism’s care on material and spiritual life of the people.W okresie od VIII wieku do wczesnych dekad XIV wieku - za czasów panowania: Tran Thai Tong (rządził od 1226-1258), Tran Thanh Tong (1258-1278), Tran Nhan Tong (1278-1293), Tran Anh Tong (1293-1314), Tran Minh Tong (1914-1329), i Trang Hien Ton (1329-1341) - Dai Viet był w na drodze rozwoju.

Understanding the transmission dynamics of a large-scale measles outbreak in Southern Vietnam

    No full text
OBJECTIVES: Southern Vietnam experienced a large measles outbreak of over 26,000 cases during 2018-2020. We aimed to understand and quantify the measles spread in space-time dependence and the transmissibility during the outbreak. METHODS: Measles surveillance reported cases between January 2018 and June 2020, vaccination coverage, and population data at provinicial level were used. To illustrate the spatio-temporal pattern of disease spread, we employed the endemic-epidemic multivariate time series model decomposing measles risk additively into autoregressive, spatio-temporal, and endemic components. Likelihood-based estimation procedures were performed to determine the time-varying reproductive number Re of measles. RESULTS: Our analysis showed that the incidence of measles was associated with vaccination coverage heterogeneity and spatial interaction between provincial units. The risk of infections was dominated by between-province transmission (36.1% to 78.8%), followed by local endogenous transmission (4.1% to 61.5%). In contrast, the endemic behavior had a relatively small contribution (2.4% to 33.4%) across provinces. In the exponential phase of the epidemic, Re was above the threshold with a maximum value of 2.34 (95% CI: 2.20-2.46). CONCLUSION: Local vaccination coverage and human mobility are important factors contributing to the measles dynamics in Southern Vietnam, and the high risk of inter-provincial transmission is of most concern. Strengthening the disease surveillance is recommended, and further research is essential to understand the relative contribution of population immunity and control measures in measles epidemics.sponsorship: We would like to thank the VLIR-UOS for awarding T.H.T.N. a scholarship to study the Master of Epidemiology at the Univer-sity of Antwerp, Belgium. The economic efficiency of a trawl fishery in Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa province, Vietnam

Vietnamese fisheries have long traditional development. They are operating under an open access fisheries regime with small scale, multi-species and multi-fishing gears. The number of fishing vessels, the total engine power and the total yield have been increasing continuously overtime; meanwhile the CPUE (catch per unit effort) have been reducing seriously. Vietnamese fisheries are facing overexploitation and declining resources especially regarding the inshore resources. One of the reasons leading to these problems is trawler operation, especially with onshore bottom trawlers. However, trawlers also account for a huge proportion in the total number vessels and the total catch. Thus, this study focus on evaluating economic efficiency of trawl fleets in Vietnam – the case of trawl fleets in Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province. 57 trawlers in Nha Trang, accounting for 13.7% of the total trawlers were investigated on costs and earnings data. The empirical results have shown that the owners of heterogeneous trawlers earn an average profit of 89.4 million VND corresponding to a profit margin of 12.8%. On average, all economic indicators are positive although there are some trawlers showing losses. The medium group (60 ≤ Hp < 90) is the most efficient group. The gross revenue was chosen as a proxy for fishing effort because of lack of catch information. The regression analysis shows that the numbers of fishing days, the circumference of the trawl mouth and engine power are the most important factors impacting on economic efficiency of Nha Trang trawl fisheries; meanwhile, the number of fishers is insignificant. Salter program application has shown that profit still generated in open access fisheries regime, particularly in the case of trawl fleets in Nha Trang. The study also shows the over investment on particular trawlers in Nha Trang which may lead to economic inefficiency

    Syntax of Vietnamese Aspect

    No full text
The aim of this thesis is two-fold: to develop an articulated Vietnamese clause structure in two syntactic domains: VP-external and VP-internal in the spirit of generative grammar, and to see how this functional architecture is supported empirically from the perspective of second language acquisition. To address theoretical issues, on the one hand, it brings together interesting semantic and syntactic contrasts of aspectual morphemes in Vietnamese, i.e., the distributional and interpretative independence of Vietnamese tense and aspect as well as the way they interact with other syntactic phenomenon such as negation, quantification and definiteness. On the other hand, it reveals to what extent the mechanisms that Vietnamese recruits to encode aspect are different from those employed in Indo- European languages and other areally-related languages, especially including Chinese. Based on a detailed semantic-syntactic investigation of Vietnamese aspect, the thesis sets out the properties that need to be acquired by Chinese learners. It distinguishes between those properties which are acquirable without difficulties and those that are ‘problematic’ in order to verify the proposed Vietnamese functional clause. It also sets out to validate some recent hypotheses in the realm of second language acquisition. The thesis is organized as follows. Chapter 1 sets out the theoretical approach of the thesis. Chapter 2 systematically reviews a set of semantic and syntactic studies on aspect that are relevant to the discussion. Chapter 3 lays out previous research on Vietnamese tense and aspect as points of departure for my proposals. Chapters 4 and 5 are devoted to an analysis of how tense and aspect are realized in Vietnamese both pre- and post-verbally. Chapter 6 provides a brief comparison between Vietnamese and Chinese aspectual systems, focusing on the particular properties investigated in the following chapter. Chapter 7 presents a set of experiments examining Chinese learners’ acquisition of Vietnamese aspect-related constructions, these shed light on current generativist hypotheses about second language acquisition. Chapter 8 concludes the thesis

An analysis of exosomes from keratinocytes and fibroblasts

    No full text
In recent years, many studies have provided evidence that exosomes secreted by cells contain various components, including microRNAs [1]. It is thought that exosomes have important roles in many biological processes. However, the role of exosomes and their components, especially miRNAs, in wound healing is poorly understood. In order to understand whether or not primary human epidermal keratinocytes and dermal fibroblasts, two important cell types contributing to wound healing process, release exosomes and what species of wound healing-associated miRNAs accumulate in these vesicles, this project will use a combination of methods to isolate and characterize exosomes, to profile exosomal cargo’s, especially miRNAs in exosomes. The results showed that keratinocytes and fibroblasts released exosomes into conditioned media and these exosomes contain some target miRNAs

According to the official statistics, over 225,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students are unemployed in 2016, a double increase compared to 2010, are alarming figures of learners’ employability in Vietnam. Within the scope of HAPIE project (www.vuheie.org) between Vietnam and United Kingdom, this research aimed to assess the awareness and attitudes of learners and teachers in enhancing the quality of human resource training in Vietnam towards international standardization. We surveyed 503 opinions of lecturers, pupils and students in Nha Trang city about ability to find a job after graduation. The result showed that 43.8% of pupils and students chose experience before graduation which is the most important factor when applying for a job, while the most prioritized factor is ‘suitable speciality’ when choosing a certain job in companies (36.2%). However, 52.4% of those are willing to choose another works which are not relevant with their major if not finding the right specialized job. As regards lecturers, 73.6% said that using appropriate teaching methods can enhance students’ employability. Nevertheless, 52.9% of them had no comments about the development of new syllabus, especially the programs related to the Innovation and Entrepreneurship (73.6%). This indicated that such contents are rather limited at university. From this point, this research proposes policy solution to improve students’ employability that contributed to high-quality human resource training in Vietnam towards international standardization
