Atticus’ motivation in defending Tom Robinson in Happer Lee’s to kill a Mockingbird
ABSTRACT
Literature is a term used to describe written or spoken material. Broadly speaking, "literature" is used to describe anything from creative writing to more technical or scientific works, but the term is most commonly used to refer to works of the creative imagination, including works of poetry, drama, fiction, and nonfiction. Fiction is a work of the imagination or invention, which contrasts with non-fiction (which is usually thought to be based on facts). Written works like novels, short stories, plays, and poems are fictional.
Related to the explanation above, it was interesting to conduct a psychological analysis entitled” Atticus’s Motivation in Defending Tom Robinson in Happer Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird”. In this thesis, the researcher wants to apply psychological analysis as the approach of the analysis on novel “To Kill a Mockingbird” There are three statements of the problem. The first is how Atticus Defending Tom Robinson, the second is Atticus’s Motivation Defending Tom Robinson based on Abraham Maslow’ theory, And the last one is the results of Atticus Defending Tom Robinson are.
The researcher observed it by using Abraham Maslow’s theory, because this research will describe psychological condition of the main character on novel “To Kill a Mockingbird”. The contains of novel is related much with psychological approach, Atticus as the main character is someone who wants to gain the actualization need, five basic needs by Abraham Maslow’s theory and others needs.
The result of this research is that the researcher finds some proves about whether Atticus as the main character includes in the five hierarchies of needs or not, and that is true that Atticus’s reasons to defend Tom Robinson is motivated by some needs based on Abraham Maslow’s theory. Especially: 1 Self actualization needs, the reason of Atticus Defending Tom Robinson is a motivation of self-actualization needs that are spritual kind. Atticus tries to do good to all humans that is regardless of race or ethnicity, 2. Esteem needs, Atticus is motivated by Esteem Need in Defending Tom Robinson. Atticus wants to get respect from the socity because his legislature status in Maycomb. and 3. Safety need, Atticus Finch defends Tom Robinson is motivated by the safety need. he wants his children future not to get a revenge from the black men, because Atticus has faith that one day blacks will have power and will revenge from what the white men had done against them
Problems in care: searching for staff in a post-Brexit Britain
With the Brexit negotiations ongoing, the full impact of the 2016 EU referendum on the UK social care sector is yet to be decided. In this article, Tom Robinson examines the shifting lay of the land for care homes looking to hire staff from overseas </jats:p
International audienceLeft wing rock1 musicians and fans tend to believe that rock music changes the world; left wing journalists believe that the media change the world, and left-wing teachers believe it is education. So far, so human. But is it possible to analyse the political effects of rock processes and products? This article will explore this topic with reference to one rock group, the Tom Robinson Band, which came to promine nce briefly in the late nineteen seventies. 2 The Tom Robinson Band proposed fast-paced mainstre am rock music, not in any real sense “underground” but mixed it with very clear stances, both in lyrics and in activism, on political issues such as racism, abort ion rights, unemployment, and fables about evolutionary insurrections. They released two albums - Power in the Darkness and TRB Two, before disbanding to move onto other projects. In this analysis, I will be looking not only at the “message” conveyed in the repertoire, if indeed such vocabulary is appropriate, but also at the experiences proposed by the song.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
