No full text"This book contends that the concept of fairness should be embraced and developed as a middle ground between strictly utilitarian and fundamental rights-based approaches to intellectual property (IP) law. Annette Kur, Nari Lee and Anna Tischner provide elegant arguments as to why this should be the case, and offer insights into how fairness as a legal notion can fulfil the role of mediator between the property aspects of IP law, market regulation and general welfare. They explore the terms and concepts of fairness in EU legislation, analyse the overarching network of goals and values set by EU law, and address the predominant theories that inform the notion of fairness and the use of empirical methods as a tool for its concretization. Ultimately, the book presents a conceptual framework of fairness to form a toolkit for legislative and judicial decision making and applies this to emerging challenges in IP law, such as AI regulation. Showcasing multifaceted perspectives, relevant doctrines and positive norms, this book is a valuable resource for scholars and researchers of European law and intellectual property law. 2025-10-11 Premierowy koncert “Swoje se myśli, czyli Tischner nie tylko po góralsku” / solista – saksofonista
No full text11.10.2025 Bartosz Noszka (saksofon) wziął udział w koncercie „Swoje se myśli, czyli Tischner nie tylko po góralsku”, który odbył się w słynnym polonijnym centrum kulturalnym Copernicus Center w Chicago (USA). Koncert służył popularyzacji dorobku ks. prof. Józefa Tischnera przybliżając jego postać i myśli, także jego sposób postrzegania świata, pełnego poczucia humoru oraz serdeczności, jaką darzył ludzi. W koncercie udział wzięli wokaliści i muzycy (12 utworów słowno-muzycznych), w tym: Trebunie – Tutki, Weronika Skalska, Natalia Szczypuła, Hanka Wójciak, Piotr Szewczyk, Rafał Żur oraz zespół instrumentalny pod kierownictwem Krzysztofa Odrobiny w składzie: Krzysztof Odrobina, Kosma Kalamarz, Maciej Gruchacz, Michał Dziewiński, Sylwester Malinowski, Bogusław Zięba, Bartosz Pernal, Bartłomiej Noszka, Tomasz Adamczyk, SONOS Kwartet w składzie: Marta Huget – Skiba, Filip Huget, Anna Grzybała, Joanna Urbańska-Mikszta. Narratorem-aktorem prowadzącym koncert był Piotr Cyrwus, którego wypowiedzi zbudowano z tekstów zaczerpniętych z twórczości Tischnera. Po części także tych, które zostały napisane w gwarze góralskiej. W planie multimedialnym wyświetlany był materiał filmowy zarejestrowany w miejscach, które wyznaczyły najważniejsze etapy życiowej i twórczej drogi J. Tischnera. Przewodnikiem po tych miejscach oraz związanych z nimi ludziach będzie Kazimierz Tischner – brat ks. Tischnera. Plan multimedialny został wzbogacony o materiały archiwalne, fotograficzne i filmowe, z udziałem ks. Tischnera.
W koncercie „Swoje se myśli, czyli Tischner nie tylko po góralsku” B. Noszka wykonywał partie solowe jak i zespołowe. Improwizowane partie solowe wykonał w następujących utworach: Jo cłek wolny (Trebunie Tutki), Swoje se myśli (Krzysztof Odrobina), Nutko moja (Trebunie Tutki).
Miejsce koncertu czyli Copernicus Center w Chicago to najważniejsze polonijne centrum kulturalne na świecie; posiada salę koncertową Mitchell Kobelinski Theater o pojemności 1852 miejsc siedzących. Koncert odbył się pod Honorowym Patronatem Pani Reginy Jurkowskiej Konsul Generalnej RP w Chicago.

Richardson, Barbauld, and the construction of an early modern fan club
No full textMPhilMuch has been written about the life and long works of the eighteenth century epistolary novelist, Samuel Richardson, but the prospect of his position as the first celebrity novelist – responsible for courting his own fame as well as initiating his own fan club – has largely been ignored. The body of manuscripts housed at the National Art Library in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London provides the modern scholar with evidence of the skeletal beginnings of an early fan club. This thesis aims to show how these manuscripts were turned into a saleable commodity by the publisher and entrepreneur Richard Phillips, while under the guiding hand of another, slightly later, literary celebrity, Anna Laetitia Barbauld. In order to restore Richardson’s reputation amongst a new nineteenth century audience, Barbauld was required to construct her own idea of him as an eighteenth century celebrity author, and in doing so the insecurities of a self-professed, apparently diffident man, are revealed. Barbauld’s capacious, but heavily edited selection of letters is analyzed in this thesis, providing ample evidence that Richardson’s correspondents were more than just eager letter writers. By using Barbauld’s biography of Richardson this thesis aims to show how she manipulates the genre of life writing in her construction of him.
This thesis offers an alternative reading of how the Richardson manuscripts are viewed, redefining them as not simply a collection of letters, but as a collective entity, deliberately selected and archived as evidence of an early modern fan club, and its celebrity managing director

She is the author and designer of All Messed Up: Unpredictable Graphics (Laurence King, 2004) and co-editor and co-designer
of Influences: A Lexicon of Contemporary Graphic Design (Die Gestalten Verlag, 2006) with Anja Lutz. She writes regularily for magazines such as Print, Eye, Creative Review, Varoom and Idea Magazine and her work has also been published in shift!, dot dot dot and +rosebud.
She teaches at the London College of Communication on the BA Graphic Design and MA Design Writing Criticism programmes. She has also held workshops and lectures across the U.K. (including Tate Modern and the V&A Museum), as well as in India, the U.S., Australia and Malaysia.
