    Results of dynamic simulation of the lateral stability of a light van when curvilinear movement

    The article presents the results of developing a methodology and implementing dynamic modeling in the SolidWorks Motion 2016 software environment for changing the body roll angle of the Gazelle Next van during active maneuvering and turning using a lever-electromagnetic stabilization system in comparison with a lever stabilizer system. A dynamic modeling technique was developed to analyze the change in the roll angle of the Gazelle NEXT all-metal van in the driving mode when turning and intensive maneuvering with a lever and using a lever-electromagnetic stabilization system). As a result of the research, a decrease in the roll angle of the Gazelle Next all-metal van was revealed in driving modes with active maneuvering and cornering using the lever-electromagnetic stabilization system relative to that installed on the example of the Gazelle NEXT — lever. The proposed method of dynamic modeling proved the effectiveness of using a lever-electromagnetic stabilization system when turning and active maneuvering, compared with standard lever stabilizers based on a comparison of the roll angles of the first and second options

    The work is devoted to the issue of increasing the lateral stability, handling and safety of a car with a lever-electromagnetic system of transverse stabilization. The road safety of vehicles should improve with the rapid development of vehicle dynamics. Knowledge of vehicle roll stability data is important for the development of vehicle stability systems that will improve road safety. As a result of a review of trucks and passenger vehicles, it was found that the normal anti-roll bars are used to increase lateral stability. At present, higher-class passenger cars have begun to use active stabilizers (anti-roll bars), which provide more efficient alignment of the car when cornering. The main disadvantage of a conventional anti-roll bar is the reduction in suspension travel and does not provide the necessary smoothness when cornering and when maneuvering. These movements can lead to dangerous traffic situations. Thus, unfavorable driving conditions are manifested in terms of vehicle stability and controllability, as well as a smooth ride, which determines the level of comfort during heavy cornering and maneuvering. A new vehicle active safety system has been proposed, which makes it possible to increase lateral stability. The given method of substantiating the design and operating parameters of the lever-electromagnetic lateral stabilization system, which increase the lateral stability of light-duty vans, and the results of a study on the example of a GAZelle NEXT cargo van when cornering and maneuvering are given

    Analyzes the change in the body roll angle during curvilinear motion according to the calculation and modeling options in the Matlab&Simulink system. The increase in the values of the required relative to the set angular stiffness of the suspension is investigated. The values of the roll angles of the van body are determined taking into account the required and set angular stiffness of the suspension. Mathematical models of the processes of the electromagnetic system of transverse stabilization have been developed in order to analyze the change in the roll angle of the GAZelle NEXT van with an electromagnetic stabilization system and with a conventional stabilizer during curvilinear motion. As a result of the research, it was found body roll reduction using an electromagnetic stabilization system for curvilinear motion. According to the results, the values of the roll angles obtained in the calculations in the mathematical modeling of the angles for the required stiffness, an assessment was made of the error in the deviation of the roll angles for the options. As a result of the curvilinear motion simulation, the effectiveness of using an electromagnetic stabilization system compared to conventional stabilizers was proven based on a comparison of roll angles

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
