Spectrosc. 73, 475-493 (1978).Author Institution:We use the C3C_{3} and C4C_{4} symmetric-top representations 1,2^{1,2} for rapidly rotating spherical-top molecules to approximate the clustered values of F3F_{3} and diagonal F4F^{4}- coefficients with 3-J symbols. These coefficients then specify the intensities and wavenumbers, respectively, of absorption lines for the ``forbidden’’ pure rotational transitions in the vibrational ground state of tetrahedral XY4XY_{4} molecules. We predict the absorption to be strongest for those states which correspond to rotation about the C3C_{3} axes, and which satisfy the selection rule ΔK=0,±3\Delta K = 0, \pm 3, Model spectra for ΔJ=+1\Delta J = +1 (far-infrared) and ΔJ=0\Delta J = 0 (microwave) transitions will be shown

    Planktic foraminiferal biostratigraphy and 87Sr/86Sr isotopic stratigraphy of the Oligocene-to-Pleistocene sedimentary sequence in the southeastern Calabrian microplate, southern Italy

    No full text
    Integration of foraminiferal biostratigraphy, 87Sr/86Sr isotope stratigraphy, and traditional physical stratigraphy has provided a refined age control of a poorly known Oligocene-to-Pleistocene sedimentary sequence nonconformably covering the crystalline basement complex of the Calabrian microplate, a continental block which rifted off the southern margin of the European plate during Neogene time. The results of this study provide a framework for future sequence-stratigraphic and paleotectonic studies in the area, and prove the effectiveness of an integrated paleontological and geochemical (87Sr/86Sr) approach in the study of fossil-poor sedimentary sequences. -from Author

    Maximum Ride Book 1: The Angel Experiment by J. Patterson

    Patterson, James. Maximum Ride Book 1: The Angel Experiment. New York: Little Brown, 2005. Print. This book has all of my favorite things to read about. Action, adventure and people who can fly.  I also like books with people who have powers too.Max and her family are experiments. They are 98% human and they can fly. There are other experiments too! There called Erasers and they\u27re part human and part wolf but all predator.I would change nothing. Nothing. And nothing about this book. I would rate it at five! IT’S THE BEST! If there was a choice of 100, that’s what I would choose. Highly recommended: 5 out of 5 stars Reviewer: JaydaMy name is Jayda. The type of books I like to read are action/adventure. I like to read about people who can fly. My favorite author is James Patterson because he makes books I like to read. Right now I am reading a James Patterson book. It’s called Maximum Ride

    Maine Debtor-Creditor Law by Dennis M. Patterson

    No full text
    Dennis M. Patterson, Esquire, has written a brief, practical guide to selected areas of collection practice entitled Maine Debtor-Creditor Law. Two immediate observations come to mind: first, that I plan to keep a copy of the book in my office library for future reference; second, that I am disappointed that the author omitted reference to several challenging issues that confront the attorney having a regular collection or foreclosure practice. This latter observation is both an indication of the usefulness of the book\u27s treatment of the areas covered and a hopeful invitation to the author to expand on his subject matter in future writings

    ORDER, DISORDER, AND CLUSTERING IN ROTOR SPECTRA: A COMPARISON OF SPHERICAL AND ASYMMETRIC TOP DYNAMICS.DYNAMICS.^{*}

    Author Institution: Physics Department, Georgia Institute of Technology Atlanta; University of California, Los Alamos National Laboratory Theoretical Division Los AlamosThe techniques used to elucidate spherical top spectral clustering effects1effects^{1} can be applied to other types of polyatomic molecules including those of low symmetry. Dynamical effective energy surfaces2,3surfaces^{2,3}, can be drawn using the molecular constants in a general rotor Hamiltonian, and the surfaces can be used to calculate and understand the spectra and dynamics of the rotors. Spectral clustering effects such as rotational mixing of nuclear spin species are possible in asymmetric top XY2XY_{2} molecules as well as in the spherical tops XY4XY_{4} and XY6.1,3,4XY_{6}.^{1,3,4} The energy surfaces provide simple ways to calculate, predict, or rule out many such effects for a wide range of molecular species. We hope to show these surfaces in 3-D. ^{*}Research supported in part by NSF grant PHY-8207150. 1^{1}W. G. Harter, C. W. Patterson, and F. J. daPaixao, Rev. Mod. Phys. 50, 37(1978). 2^{2}W. G. Teaching English : some remarks on the emergence of the sympathetic teacher in the English classroom

    No full text
    The chapter explores the concept of the teacher-student relationship within the English classroom and proposes that this relationship has a specific purpose in building a civil society by inculcating practices of self-reflection, empathy and ethics. The topic is explored through the example of teaching Australian literature, specifically, Tim Winton’s Lockie Leonard, Human Torpedo to secondary school students. Ian Hunter’s work on literature education and the construction of socio-ethical practices provides a conceptual framework for the chapter
