Growth of borehole breakouts with time after drilling: Implications for state of stress, NanTroSEIZE transect, SW Japan

    No full text
Resistivity at the bit tools typically provide images of wellbore breakouts only a few minutes after the hole is drilled. In certain cases images are taken tens of minutes to days after drilling of the borehole. The sonic caliper can also image borehole geometry. We present four examples comparing imaging a few minutes after drilling to imaging from about 30 min to 3 days after drilling. In all cases the borehole breakouts widen with time. The tendency to widen with time is most pronounced within a few hundred meters below the seafloor (mbsf), but may occur at depths greater than 600 mbsf. In one example the widening may be due to reduced borehole fluid pressure that would enhance borehole failure. In the three other cases, significant decreases in fluid pressure during temporal evolution of breakouts are unlikely. The latter examples may be explained by time-dependent failure of porous sediments that are in an overconsolidated state due to drilling of the borehole. This time-dependent failure could be a consequence of dilational deformation, decrease of pore fluid pressure, and maintenance of sediment strength until migrating pore fluids weaken shear surfaces and allow spallation into the borehole. Breakout orientations, and thus estimates of stress orientations, remain consistent during widening in all four cases. In vertical boreholes, breakouts wider than those initially estimated by resistivity imaging would result in higher estimates of horizontal stress magnitudes. Because the vertical overburden stress is fixed, higher estimated horizontal stresses would favor strike-slip or thrust faulting over normal faulting

A STUDY ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETIES IN MEIKTILA TOWNSHIP, MANDALAY REGION ( Kyaw Thu Win, 2019)

    No full text
Co-operatives play significant and important roles in economic development in many developing countries; but the experience has been mixed. Myanmar has had a relatively long history of Co-operative development, having marked its century celebration of Co-operatives in January 2005. Credit Co-operatives have therefore played a key role in broadening financial access to rural community. The objectives of the study are to identity the growth of co-operative societies in Meiktila Township and to analyse the performance of co-operative societies in Meiktila Township. Descriptive Method and cluster random sampling were used for studying. The growth was identified on the increasing numbers of co-operative societies, membership and share capitals. The performance of selected co-operative societies was analysed on the ratio of profit on capital, on working capital and on capital plus working capital with the ratio analysis. The growth of the co-operative society was found in increasing number of societies, membership and share capital. The development of co-operative can be found in which the development of the amount of capital, working capital on net profit. The co-operative societies in Meiktila Township had been developing within the study period from 2009-2018

A Study on the Impact of Myanmar’s Exchange Rate Unification on Trade Balance (1990 To 2022) ( May Thu Kyaw, 2024)

    No full text
This study examines the impact of Myanmar's exchange rate unification on its trade balance from 1990 to 2022 using an Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model. The analysis focuses on how the unification of exchange rates affects trade flows and the overall balance of trade. Key variables include the official exchange rate, GDP growth rate, foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows, and inflation rate, with the trade balance as the dependent variable. Long-run results show that an appreciation of the exchange rate and higher inflation negatively impact the trade balance, whereas increases in GDP growth and FDI inflows have positive effects. Policy reforms also show a substantial positive impact on the trade balance. Short-run results indicate that a strong adjustment mechanism, with exchange rate appreciation and inflation has negative impact on the trade balance, while GDP growth and FDI inflows improve it. These findings underscore the importance of exchange rate policy and economic reforms in shaping Myanmar’s trade performance, highlighting the need for a stable exchange rate system to support sustainable trade growth

    No full text
This research examines the influence of ethical sales practices on customer loyalty at CB Life Insurance, emphasizing the mediating effects of customer trust and satisfaction. A quantitative research approach was adopted, targeting customers who renewed their insurance contracts. Using Yamane’s (1967) formula, a sample of 177 customers was selected, with 143 valid responses collected through simple random sampling. Multiple regression analysis revealed that ethical sales behavior significantly and positively influences customer loyalty. Further analysis demonstrated that customer trust and satisfaction act as significant mediators in this relationship. Ethical sales behavior strongly predicts customer trust and satisfaction, with trust and satisfaction, in turn, significantly enhancing customer loyalty. The results confirmed the statistical significance of the indirect effects, with trust and satisfaction mediating the relationship. These findings provide implementing rigorous agent training programs, establishing clear ethical guidelines, conducting regular performance evaluations, and fostering a customer-centric culture to enhance ethical sales practices in fostering trust, satisfaction, and loyalty. CB Life Insurance can build stronger customer relationships through ethical conduct

    No full text
This study explores public awareness of motorcycle-related road traffic accidents and examines key factors influencing helmet use in Pathein Township, Myanmar. It aims to identify the key factors influencing helmet use in Pathein Township, Myanmar. A descriptive quantitative method was applied, using structured questionnaires to collect data from 270 motorcycle riders across urban, semi-urban, and rural areas. Although most respondents are aware of the benefits of wearing helmets, actual usage remains low. Major barriers include misconceptions, low-quality helmets, inadequate law enforcement, and cultural attitudes. Interestingly, holding a driving license did not correlate with safer riding practices. To improve helmet compliance and reduce traffic-related injuries, the study recommends a multi-faceted approach including public education, stricter enforcement, quality control of helmets, and active community involvement. These findings can help guide policymakers and stakeholders in developing strategies to enhance motorcycle safety in Pathein Township and potentially across other regions in Myanmar

The study focuses on investigation of co-integration between revenue and expenditure of government and GDP growth. The study aims to find to examine the relationship and causality between government revenue and expenditure. The Ordinary Least Square (OLS) regression results show that an expending expenditure raise government revenue, and both are positively related in Myanmar. According to the Granger Causality test, Government expenditure cause revenue and revenue also cause expenditure. According to Auto-regressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) bound test, the government expenditure have positive influence on GDP growth in the long run and negative influence in the short run. The government revenue has effect on GDP growth negative in the short run and positive in the long run. Besides, they have co-integration and long-run relationship in Myanmar economy
